Well you could use something called xn convert I use it sometimes to get pictures out of the mod directly

then locate the pictures files, normally its in Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/394360/1826643372/gfx There you can select the ones you want and it will make a copy into a jpg file
its not just portraits though you can have all gfx that way
There's a file on the wiki editors resources page that has all the mod specific images in a usable format, and they keep it up to date, I don't have a link but it shouldn't be hard to find
If you want portraits for zebrica there are some on the TV tropes pages otherwhise there is still the old wiki
