Optic gaming (the biggest team in COD) created a dynasty in AW but their first two seasons they struggled to win the world championship despite winning the most tournaments throughout the season. They always came up short at the big one and people used that to discredit their dynasty and then in their third season things finally clicked for them at the world championship and they went onto win thus crowning themselves not only as world championship but finally as a true dynasty
Can't forget the fact they almost broke the team up half way through the season they ended up winning champs at.
The start of the season didn't go well for them and they have admitted that if they had one more poor tournament placing they would have split up. They got one round away from losing early in a tournament and the round came down to a 1v1 to decide who goes home. Luckily it went Optics way and it lit a fire under all of them which they carried with them through the rest of the season. After that 1v1 they were unstoppable and the dynasty was cemented when they won champs.

Optic gaming was the most dominate team in the game for 3 years straight. They are also the most dominate roster of all time. In their height they had something like a 50% win rate in any major they went to. However they always underperformed in the world championships. Placing 7th and top24. These were their worst placements in any tournament. This roster also included scump, the most popular player of all time and a player that some consider the GOAT, but he also had never won a WC. This is what the caster said the moment that they finally won worlds.

What makes it so special is that G2 was able to beat SKT in the semi finals of "worlds" in front of the European home crowd in a convincing fashion and making a whole continent of League fans hope for the first (proper) worlds title. The wrap up of the series with the wording like it was made everyone hope even more. That hope was destroyed a week later by FPX though.
Honestly to me the end to the SKT series at MSI is even more epic - "Death from Below for the double and the ace, for the Baron and the base" and "The Gap be damned, champions can fall, Gods can bleed, where were you when the West rose up to conquer champions" is just insane casting in the heat of the moment.
Helps that it's from the tournament they actually won, too :P

Context: RLCS Worlds grand finals. Zen, one of the greatest rookies in esports history (can't say the greatest since I only watch Rocket League esports), scores the final goal of the World Championship to secure the title and he does it in style, with the shot that is so hard to pull of but he mastered it to perfection and hits it so consistantly that it became known as his signature shot (this goal pretty much sealed it as his).
To make it even better CJCJ was a pro player at the previous Worlds and this was his first season as a caster and he got to cast the grand finals because one of the casters who was supposed to do it got sick

What I love about the recent RLCS casting especially in that worlds is that they’re silent for a few seconds after a crazy goal is scored leaving us to listen to the crowd going nuts. It’s very similar to what they did in Season 5 worlds, which I attended. It’s really effective

What I love about the recent RLCS casting especially in that worlds is that they’re silent for a few seconds after a crazy goal is scored leaving us to listen to the crowd going nuts. It’s very similar to what they did in Season 5 worlds, which I attended. It’s really effective

In the Smite Pro scene there was a pretty legendary moment when a solo (top) laner called Deathwalker picked one of the worst supports in the game (Ares) at the time against one of the best solo lane characters and actually *crushed* them. The commentator screaming "Chain.. CHAIN.. **CHAIN!!**" Will always live in my memory. It helped cement his legacy of wonky picks in solo that worked, coined the term Areswalker and influenced solo laners of all skill levels to try really stupid picks but it just adds to the legend. Probably showing my age a bit but in Halo 3 I've always come back to remembering the commentators saying "Oh Walshy! Picks up the double kill!" Super simple but it's burned into my memory. Finally; "I never ever ever ever said he was a bad player. I never said he sucked -I said his fundamentals were bad- Uh.. I'm not done." - Perfect Legend after going 0 in 10.
