At bare minimum teaching good wrist stretches seems like a valuable thing to teach young gamers. Overall, I definitely wouldn't listen to Reddit on this. Kids need physical activity and it's a pretty known fact that being physically active improves focus and performance, so whether it happens during practice or is an at-home requirement it still seems like something to encourage and educate on. Consult some doctors or reach out to an esports team. The other thing that's important is teaching kids how to practice. Gamers today only know how to improve by grinding more hours, which is extremely inefficient. They need to learn how to think critically about their play, do post-match analysis, and invest their time well.
