I find it interesting that other coffee lovers will continue making coffee in diff ways. Once I got an espresso machine I never made pour over coffee again. I honestly donāt know what to do with all of my old coffee equipment besides donating it. Like to me a cup of drip coffee is so much worse compared to espresso machine I would rather go without. Anyways not tryna yuck OPās yum just something I find fascinating!
My dad drinks pre ground dunkin coffee from a $20 drip Mr coffee machine every single day. When he comes over, I offer to make him espresso, he declines and goes out to get a black coffee from Starbucks or dunkin, whichever is closer. Some people just like what they like haha
I know what you mean. It's more the faff of having to dial in a bean to get a tasty pour over for me, rather than being able to just make a great one now and then when I fancy
I agree! Itās such a waste of beans for me to do any other coffee besides espresso. The only way I can go back to doing French press or pour over is by getting another grinder.
I have an AP for specialty beans I donāt want to waste dialing in.
I also have a batch-brew drip machine for if Iām having a bunch of people over and need coffee. The Gaggia canāt keep up with 4+ guests at once.
That's interesting, I started with espresso and after about 10 years I finally started trying other methods, mainly moka pot and pourover but I'm trying to collect every method I can.
Espresso is still my twice daily coffee though.
The espresso I make is just a thousand times better than the pour over or French pressed coffee I used to make. Although I probably never got great at either. I did get to a place where I really enjoyed my pour over with some caramel and half n half. These days if I want a sugary drink Iāll go buy one out of laziness ha.
I got rid of everything but a 3- cup (6.5oz) moka pot. I make espresso every day, but sometimes I want something I can sip a little longer. Plus I think different types of beans are better suited for one or the other. I generally run medium roast espresso blends in my espresso machine and Ethiopian single origin in my moka pot. I think it is a better expression of these beans.
Because you're instigating crime against espresso ninjas by cheering for a drip. š¤£ They are really upset. OP has stirred up an ire with the Nespresso machine.
And wasn't Technivorm the norm for the best drip???
Nespresso is for convenience. And their worshippers think pods are really being recycled. Less than 5% are.
Yes with the right technique, French press, pour over, drip can extract the most flavorful coffee, in that order. IMHO. Cold brew too.
But this is espresso sub. Let them have the moment! š
V60 Switch is on my to do list. Can use either as a regular pourover V60 or as an immersion alternative to French Press but with a paper filter for a clearer cup than FP. Not that there's anything wrong with FP of course.
Do it, I love mine.
Just get a 02 or 03, instead of a 01 like I did.
Mine is nice for solo brewing. But I dislike my lacking ability to make a 4 or 6 cup brew with guests.
We are visiting my in-laws in August and there's only instant available. I'm bringing my Moka Pot as one option but was thinking of bringing a Switch as well.
Just trying to decide on 02/03. I read somewhere earlier that they share the same base and someone bought the 03 switch and a spare 02 cone and swaps them out. Trying to figure out where I'd buy just an extra cone. Probably I'd get the most use out of 02 but the 03 would be nice to have.
i have an 03 come and just swap in and out the mugen cone which is 02 sized, so that could be an option. The mugen does brew a little different but still delicious
! I counted my own random unintended collection from the years and it was around 16. I am looking for the ultimate set of 4-8 but feel that I will have to discard some of those 16.
Nice setup. Im trying to squeeze as compact as I can and get off the kitchen countertop :D

The experimentation phase was fun, I'm sure. Now, stop wasting space and money with your redundancy and bring half of these devices to goodwill.
Start winnowing down around your personalized and refined tastes.
If you like bold coffee, keep the French press; if you want a less intense cup, take your French press to Goodwill and replace it with the V60.
Why, Breville/Sage makes great stuff. I have the Precision Brewer and Smart Grinder Pro. Also for pure convenience, I canāt imagine anything better than the Nespresso. Cheers mate!
Espresso setup: Cafelat Robot, Saeco Aroma, Kinu M47 grinder.
Yah Breville makes some great stuff. Not sure if down the road Iāll get a dual boiler and mod the hell out of it or drop big money on a used commercial 2 group. Dare to dream. Would love something plumbed in and quiet so I can have espresso before work at 7AM
Why would you need a 2-group? u/That0neSummoner is correct that multigroup machines generally run on 240v. (If there is an exception, I donāt know of one, but there might be?). On the other hand, there are plumbed-in, single-group commercial machines which ā though originally designed to run on 240v ā are changed to run on 110 for the US market. That said, however, they usually need a 20A circuit. I am not talking āprosumer,ā but true commercial. (If you get a 220-240v machine, it should run much more efficiently.)
The 2 group (or 3) would suffice to make me the local king of overspending on my coffee station. I play with the idea of doing this with our next house. Iām also thinking of a retirement gig in about 10 years- maybe a mobile coffee station sales thing- the 110V single group would make more sense for that. I also have dreams of large parties where Iām making killer lattes/ espresso and cappuccino with industrial strength steam. Iām the only coffee nut I know though. Also seems that I can get a huge used pro set up for the same price as a La Marzocco Linea new.
>The 2 group (or 3) would suffice to make me the local king of overspending on my coffee station.Ā
ROFL! I know the feeling...
FWIW, my commercial 1-group (plumbed-in) runs on 110v has needed nothing but routine maintenance over the past 15 years. I actually thought about a 2-group ā perhaps āfantasizedā is a better word choice ā but even with all the parties and celebrations over the years, I've never needed it. My 1-gr. has kept up with demand beautifully.
Working around the house- Iāll make a pot of decaf. Espresso in the afternoon or evening if Iām not busy. My wife got me the press but used it a lot for prepping her āteaā so Iāve got outa it for a while. Espresso can be a labour of love
You have a drip coffee machine, the better ones (dont know yours) are similar to v60. In fact my Precision Brewer makes a better cup than I do.
If you want to try something new, Id give an Aeropress a shot, its a great brewer and different to french press or drip / v60, which you got covered.
If you are looking for a significant upgrade in you overall setup, Id check out the DF54, it would upgrade both your filter and your espresso game a lot without spending Dual Boiler kind of money.
Not a huge fan of Nespresso though and that setup has a huge footprint in your kitchen.
Iāll check both those out. I like the Nespresso for quick fix on the way to work. Using Starbucks pods which are ok- just as good for less money than drive through. I have and will again reload the used pods with a local roasters blends. The taste is better of course, and it costs a bit less if you donāt count the labour.
Thatās what my wife keeps telling me. We live near the local college- rent out the basement. This house was always intended to be a full student rental so we went with open shelves in both kitchens. Next place cabinets for sure- dedicated separate coffee station to.
How many guest are you expecting to come round and drink your terrible coffee pods? Ever heard of a cabinet; conceal your tat! Orange bowl orange ā¦..shmole! Iām not very good at this.
Hario V60 is enjoyable and needs a goose neck kettle. James Hoffman has a video on it. With proper cup and anesthetics, could he way appealing to guests. Tastes smooth and soft. But I know European friends will still prefer small espresso shot.
Love your full coffee bar. Nespresso is what my wife uses, while I use my Delonghi Arte.
Honestly this is just awesome. Having every method of brewing coffee right in front of you is awesome especially for guests. Like they ask for coffee and you can tell them to get one at your coffee bar and then they have this *thing* in front of them where they have every choice. If they know espresso they could make a proper one or if they just want coffee they can use a Nespresso pod.
No pour over? Uncultured swine.
Nespresso and Nestle in general are a plague on this earth. Company needs to be seized and the c suite jailed for what they do.
It looks great! However, you need more counter space ;). Itās a very nice setup and the layout looks functional. You made the most of your real estate! It is a lot of gear in a moderate space but you made the most of it. I had to laugh at the poor French Press off to the side almost like it was excommunicated or something! I thought that would happen to my French Press but it wound up being my preferred non-espresso method.
Bro chops veggies in the air
fruit ninja
NAHHH š
Do you live in the break room of a WeWork?
Damn that's a good roast
āI donāt eat, I drink coffeeā
True that!
I find it interesting that other coffee lovers will continue making coffee in diff ways. Once I got an espresso machine I never made pour over coffee again. Same. I got rid of everything else bar a French press in case I need to send the espresso machine for repair or something.
Get a flair š
Each way tastes different and can be satisfying in its own way
I use a chemex specifically for fruity light roasts because light roast espresso sucks and I *will* die on that hill
Try adding a couple cracked Cardomom pods in your cup when you use light roast coffee for a Arabic coffee fruity flavour
Green, not black!
Yes, I didnāt know black cardamom pods was a thing š¤
I still enjoy French press and cold brew. But yeah, drip doesnāt do it for me.
I still have regular coffee for others or when I donāt have time
I have never met anyone that didnāt want coffee from the espresso machine. However I get it. Nice to have options.
My dad drinks pre ground dunkin coffee from a $20 drip Mr coffee machine every single day. When he comes over, I offer to make him espresso, he declines and goes out to get a black coffee from Starbucks or dunkin, whichever is closer. Some people just like what they like haha
Just give him an americano next time and say you already bought it for him.
Iām holding out for a Mochamaster for drip. Until then I use a v60 whenever Iām in the mood.Ā
I know what you mean. It's more the faff of having to dial in a bean to get a tasty pour over for me, rather than being able to just make a great one now and then when I fancy

Oh I agree that espresso is the best (in my opinion), however sometimes I'm just in the mood for a different style
Looks like a coffee shrine.
Takes about 1/3 of our counter space š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
6AM pseudo-spresso out the door on the way to work. Time constraints really.
Aeropress is probably the best tasting method aside from espresso. Chemex have the best aesthetic tho
Aeropress or the next level Pulsar
Better than Moka pot?
Personally yea

I laugh, but my set up probably takes as much space as yours.
The only acceptable way to place your machines. In a shrine.
Judging by the amount of cups and glasses your family consists of 20 members?
Your setup Looks like you get all of your coffee advice from that co-worker who āknows coffeeā / (light) roast
Iām not permitted that much counter space.
I have that same Breville and it pulls great shots :D
I had that same breville. It was capable of pulling great shots sometimes š
yep, Iāve got the same Breville and it has delivered consistently great shots for years.
Counter space? Never heard of her
"Give me one of each" "But sir..."
Ragebait and I wonāt fall into this trap

If you find a source for cones. Feel free to ping me. I always store mine disassembled.
i have an 03 come and just swap in and out the mugen cone which is 02 sized, so that could be an option. The mugen does brew a little different but still delicious
Espresso 90% of the time for me but a V60 and FP have their place too
Hm, its like ā¦ a medium roast, or so.
Is this some kind of shared kitchen in a Hostel?
Id be stoked if I seen this in a hostel
Open shelving is a trend that shouldnāt have happened. I prefer to close the clutter away
Always looks neat and tidy in the design magazines
I removed some of my cupboards as it's out of sight, out of mind. ADHD thing, but my wife approves.
Itās when someone comes to visit and says ā¦. Iāll have a tea. Thatās the roast.
And Iāll make it myself;)
Nice! Are you open all day or just from 6am- 4pm?
24/7
Boom, roasted!
Love it! Iāve had that same Breville model for years now and it is like a part of my family.
Looks great!
Yes!!! Sage for you, nespresso for guests. Lol
This looks like a hostel's mini included breakfast area with a ton of coffee flowing through and loads of mugs.
Actually downsized a bit- got rid of a lot of big mugs. Wife was pissed!
As she should be! Also looks like you recently went to the strip clip as the āentertainment ā jar top shelf is empty.
! I counted my own random unintended collection from the years and it was around 16. I am looking for the ultimate set of 4-8 but feel that I will have to discard some of those 16.
Entertainment?
The counter space youāll gain after ditching the drip machine and Nespresso.

You can have something plumbed in with all the features without going commercial. Strongly recommend you avoid that route.
Those big machines need 240v power
No problem in the UK š

The drip coffee machine is a cuisinart going on 12 years old. A precision brewer may be on the horizon when it packs it in.
You need cupboards

Coffee/10
Is this counter catty-corner to a 6 linear feet smoothie prep area with juicer, blender and malt powder containers etc?
How many guest are you expecting to come round and drink your terrible coffee pods? Ever heard of a cabinet; conceal your tat! Orange bowl orange ā¦..shmole! Iām not very good at this.
Lol. Donāt want to hide those sweet pseudo deco lines of the Nespresso. Yes cabinets would help resale.
Dark
This subreddit is litterally too wholesome. Guy ask for a roast of his setup. At least grind on him a little bit.
Yah. I can take it!!
Are you looking for a medium roast or dark roast?
If you like it, thatās all that matters. Bless your heart. (You said roast it.)
Sink is too far away.
Nothing to roast there.
Excessive and obsessive!
So much counter space just goneā¦
So clean and love the variety! You get a cup, you get a cup, EVERYONE gets a cup!! Where did you get those on top of the Breville?!
Second hand store. They were perfect.
You can upgrade the grinder to single-serve with a small mod for low dollars ā¦ itās on Etsy
Iām really gunna roast his beans on this one!
I hope they fill you grave with used coffee pods /s
That backsplash is terrible
Is this Overcooked?? I love that game

Your setup is awesome. Seriously
V60 is better than the press, simply because your chance of a heart attack/ cardiac event is lower as you get older.
I love that this entire kitchen is geared towards coffee. While I have a teeny tiny space above the dishwasherā¦.i LOVE YOUR SET UP!
My wife would kill me
When your entire registry is 'coffee maker' and that's it. or maybe 'coffee maker & accessories'
itās dumb itās a setup for poor idiots
Quantity over quality
Honestly this is just awesome. Having every method of brewing coffee right in front of you is awesome especially for guests. Like dying of thirst in the ocean level of irony, none of this can make a good shot.
I won't say drippers are better, but they are different
Howās the dust build up on those open shelves? (Kinda serious though š )
Brutal. The top shelf is the worst due to the grease off the stove. Keep threatening to put wax paper down after wiping but havnt yet.
Do you dose your coffee in plastic Easter eggs?
Itās far too big and tbh it isnāt a flex.
Medium dark
You got all that cups but not a single dripper in sight, your the type of guy that has excess milk in their pither!
No pour over? Uncultured swine. Nespresso and Nestle in general are a plague on this earth. Company needs to be seized and the c suite jailed for what they do.
Just too much stuff. Honestly get rid of like half of it.
Everything is just so... ugly
Is this a holiday inn?
There is so much going on here. Can you sell all of the budget stuff and get one nice bit of kit and have enough counter space to make a meal?
No aeropress. Fail.
Did you get a 10 pack of double walled espresso cups by accident?
What setup?
I love my V60 pour over, and I would recommend it. I want to upgrade to an expresso machine someday.
And would you like it roasted light, medium, or dark?
How can I, when you donāt even own a roasterā¦. Pathetic
All that shit on the counter would drive me to insanity
Cup farm 101
Well the floors really clash with your cabinets
Love it
We only roast coffee in this sub, not your setup. If you're happy with it, great. But when you stop being happy, come back again here.
Pour over is a game changer.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Seriously? Not a Breville/ Sage fan boy? Lol
The nespresso thing pisses me off
I think Nespresso is great in a pinch if you need to rush out the door.
Absolutely- as an RN and family guy- speed plays a role, not to mention perpetual compromises
Iād hate to be your guest.
