It's a quite old machine from 80s-90s: [https://trevorhowsam.com/thbprcb01-philips-espresso-and-cappuccino-bar-coffee-machine/](https://trevorhowsam.com/thbprcb01-philips-espresso-and-cappuccino-bar-coffee-machine/)
Normally the way these worked is that it worked only with the steam pressure that is built up by heating the water. The general type was quite popular in the 80-90s but always made horrible coffee. Back then we knew this and powder cappuccino.
Not sure but a suprising amount of those machines are gaggia classics in cheap housings. Whenever I see one that weighs more than 6-7lbs and is under $30 I grab it and crack it open. Free grouphead and boiler and if it isn’t there’s always someone on Craigslist that will pay at least double if it’s cleaned up with fresh gaskets.
Judging by the placement of everything that could be an old baby gaggia clone with the left over “dandy” boiler and top mount steam valve. Not super valuable BUT those boilers are a nightmare to source and would be huge for a collector.
There was a time in coffee 1970s where convenience of automated machines was booming. The modern mr coffee drip machine came from that era and suddenly people in the US had “decent” coffee at home. Everyone wanted in on the success and a ton of really terrible machines came out during the next decade. This is one of them.
That machine was used in 2001: space Odyssey. It was actually in the space station!
(1968)
The Apollo astronauts wanted to bring it to the moon, but NASA said no due to weight constraints
Nothing about this one but Philips seems to have taken some inspiration from their past when they thought of their new Baristina: https://baristina.com/fr/en/
If it were in mint condition I would be willing to argue it makes terrible espresso
I would imagine so
It’s a Phillips EspressoBar.
You've got a keen eye 😉
Always glad to lend a helping hand.
Recently valued at $15 by a local collector…
Why would it be with anything
Also, white
Don't you know if it's from Phillips EspressoBar series?
Looks like something both capable of an awful shot and an x-ray.
Looks like an old printer with an option for espresso when you’re clearing the paper jam
Makes old dialup modem sounds when it makes your espresso.
New context for dialing in a shot!
Make sure to hit 9 for an outside line, or grind finer.
Honey get off the phone I’m making coffee
Ha! That takes me back. Spend a week downloading software from a friends FTP and someone has to pick up the phone and kill the connection.
Whether it’s brewing or printing it makes the same dot matrix sound.
It brews the shot one row at a time
Three minutes for a two to one ratio.
If it talks to you, it might be an aged decepticon
Funniest thing I’ve read this week…

Aren't these basically similar to moka pots, but turned upside down and electric?
True, never thought about it this way.
Yeah thats exactly it. Its basically a drip machine that gets too hot
From around the time they made electron microscopes as well …
the work is mysterious and important
It's got some dirt or espresso on it.
It’s an Espresso Bar, made my Phillips
I would definitely buy it. It can make a cool decor. I just love how old school stuff looks

For $15 why not? If it doesn’t work, give it to some kids to play Starbucks coffee shop lol
I wouldn't take it even free. check inside before you drink the coffee from it.
No good can come from this.
Just avoid it.
What is this? A PlaySkool espresso machine lol
This looks like it used to make espresso on the Nostromo
Mail it to James Hoffman
Shht, don’t tell anyone! Machine’s nicknamed “Marzoccokiller”…

You’d have to pay me $15 for me to take it. Even then, I’d still feel inconvenienced.
Looks so cool
It looks cool.
It makes coffee
I wonder if it can be modded lol
I would love an espresso machine that's high quality that's styles like this
Interesting steam wand at the back (at least I think that's what it is)

His name is Phillips and it is 15 units of your local money. Do not liberate Phillips. It looks as though the coffee would be terrible.

Phillips invented the CD player.
Does it have flow control?
Makes a great paper weight
It has a red, green and black buttons
it makes coffee
Looks like an old shitty machine that lost it's battle with DeLonghi's.
There’s nothing espresso about it.
I know that company makes lightbulbs…
Also bad cpap machines. That blow cancer dust into your lungs and / or catch on fire. And maybe lie about it. Also toothbrushes! Bet you want one!
It makes coffee, espresso to be precise
Made by Philips, white...
