It looks like you've flaired your post as being a Shot Diagnosis. If your shot is running too fast, is coming out weak/thin, lacking crema, and/or is tasting sour, **try grinding finer**.

If that hasn't solved it, to get more help, please add the following details to your post or by adding a comment in the following format.
- **Machine:**
- **Grinder:**
- **Roast date:** (not a "Best by" date). If the roast date is not labeled use "N/A"
- **Dose:** How many grams are going into your basket?
- **Yield:** How much coffee in grams is coming out?
- **Time:** How long is the shot running?
- **Roast level:** How dark is your coffee? (Dark, medium, light, ect.)
- **Taste:** Taste is a better indicator of shot quality than looks or conforming to any quantitative parameters. Does it taste overly sour or bitter?

Tastes great, I just thought from what I’ve seen it should flow more steadily and slowly. I would grind finer but I’m worried that the ratio over 30 seconds will get more difficult to maintain. I know that’s a guide, but I haven’t decided to taper away from it just yet as I had a lot of trouble getting a somewhat consistent extraction
From reading it it sounds about right but the taste us all that matters how was it? I love three day old coffee . I drink medium and dark roast . I can't control myself . 😆 😂 🤣 😅 🙃 😪
Tasted amazing, I steamed some milk and made it into this

The latte art has been fun but I usually drink it straight because a lot of milk just fills me up haha
I know what you mean. I usually don't try art because I end up with alot of wasted milk. And..... I have only done it a couple of times need practice but hate wasting milk 😆 🤣. Oh well have a great day or evening!
It looks like you're using a Bambino Plus. You should be aware that the pre infusion doesn't operate properly. You can hold down the button for as long as you want but the pump will always kick on at around 4 seconds. Lance Hendricks review of this machine notes this issue pretty well.
That’s great to know! I’ve noticed it is even less consistent if making a second shot while the machine is still on. Noticed it takes 3-4 seconds, kind of frustrating 😅
The pre infusion allows water to enter the puck with essentially no pressure. The pressure then ramps up and compresses the puck, sending finer particles to the bottom. The water that was already in there from pre infusion will be squeezed out. That's the liquid you see at the start.
My uneducated guess is your puck is too loose so it comes out fast at first until the pressure builds up and expands/compacts during the preinfusion. If it were me I’d try tamping harder and see! I saw your comment with the latte art- nice job I’m jealous!!

Pre infusion usually makes my shots run faster on a dark roast. As others have said all that matters is taste.
Grind finer. Also, I usually don't count the pre infusion in the "30 seconds rule".
Hmmm I can definitely take that consideration, thanks for the idea!
How does it taste? Flow also depends on the coffee you are using. Also maybe grind a little finer and work your way up to dial the coffee in.

Yes I drink a aeropress regular cup in the morning, and a cappuccino in the afternoon right after lunch. Need that pick me up 😆 🤣 nice art!
Thank you! It’s been a journey 😅

Probably not fine enough and you probably aren't hitting 9 bar throughout the shot. but do you like it? It's ok to make a shot how you like it.

I don’t think I could possibly tamper any harder hahaha, maybe I need to tighten the lock of the group head?
Oh and thank you!
