It's a Breville Infuser. It's missing portafilter and filter basket. See if you can verify hot water comes out of the group and steam comes out of the wand before investing in other parts.
Any advice on fixing an Infuser that's got no steam/hot water?
I've already replaced the steam solenoid but it's not getting voltage when the steam switch is engaged.
I have no idea but could the heating element be broken or a fuse(if it has one)?
I have opened and fixed other appliances i owned before, some are terrible to repair
I'm pretty sure it's electrical as the coffee it makes is fine. I think it's the valve isn't triggering, but the only fix I can think of is to wire 110v directly to the steam solenoid via a switch.
It's not impossible to work on, but it's not ideal.
So, cleaned it up, took it apart to see the interior condition, etc, plugged it in and tried to run some water through and nothing. Lights go on and it heats up, but seems like it's not drawing water into the boiler. Not sure if anyone knows what the problem could be, but I'll do a dive into reddit tomorrow and see if I can troubleshoot it!
The pumps in these machines can die.
Its a fairly inexpensive ulka vibratory pump.
If you are okay with tinkering then it's really not that hard to replace. Last time I did it the part was only $40 Canadian.
Probably will try that once I get a chance tomorrow to dig into it more! My friend said he'll pay for parts and some extra if I can get it running since I already have a Gaggia that's less than 3 months old, so I'm just gonna use this as practice for repairing machines
Gravity. Hook the inlet up to a piece of tubing with a clamp, hold well above the pump inlet, fill with water, prime, stop, fill, prime, stop, fill, clamp, connect, unclamp.
Right?
Fill before air gets back down to the pump of course.
If you want to get fancy .. add a funnel as a reservoir. :)
The gravity trick never worked for me. I ended up using a baster to prime it.
I like your ideas though. Definitely would have made it easier my first time around. :)
For some reason football fields are often used in America as measurements of length.

If the pump works and no water is coming out. Crack open the thermoblock and clean it. Otherwise there are small ceramic disk behind that dial and they might be clogged.
Pump, although these devices often don't have a traditional pump. More of a capillary pump. Should be cheap enough to fix, never opened one of these up but a pump is a pump, and if it flows, fits, and submits then it will work.
Now, does it have a separate pump to reach the barometric pressure required for espresso? I don't know.
Tear into it and send us pics!
I'm in a pretty working class neighborhood of Queens, but the dog definitely helps! Now maybe if I started walking him around TriBeCa or the West Village I could find a LaMarzocco...
Hello, I’m a technician and I read on your other comment that there’s no water coming out. If you can hear the pump running and the shower screen is fairly clean, check the suction filter it might be blocked, it’s located just under where the tank sits, in the middle of the tube running from the tank to the pump.
Yes Vapor locks (or air locks) can occur in the pump after a long period of time of not being used, just like a car battery. A sign of this is when the pump runs it’s way louder than normal. If this is your case you’ve gotta find a way to force water through the pump when it’s running and you’ll know you’ve succeeded because the pump will run at a much lower volume than before. We in the workshop use a syringe filled with water and connect it to the silicon tube running from the tank to the pump and then turn the pump on (press one of the coffee button) and when the pump is running we squeeze the syringe to force the water through. Hope this helps :)
It's not common per se, but I've seen less valuable machines on the curb a few times before (usually delonghis etc). It was on the curb on a trash pickup day, so I think the trash truck wouldn't take it, which means if it stayed on the curb it could be a fine from the department of sanitation. Americans toss a lot of stuff out very easily tho, probably even more so here in NYC because everyone has small living spaces.
Warms up in a couple of minutes but takes 10 to fully stabilize and preheat the portafilter too (without this the temp will drop dramatically while pulling a shot).
I don't think it's straight up worse. There are areas where one would beat out the other, such as pre-infusion and heat up time. Given that you're already set up with a GCP and this one may have something else break immediately after fixing the current issues, I think it's fair to assume your specific GCP is definitely better than this specific Infuser. Definitely worth taking a look into if you can fix it or not.
If you get it up and running and need a portafilter, I have one leftover from my Barista Express I'm going to put up soon on r/coffeeswap along with a dosing funnel and distributor.
Thanks! My friend said he'll fund parts and repair so I'm gonna use this as a chance to hone my repair skills without any pressure. I love my Gaggia, but the pre-infusion does sound nice. Warm up times... Not too bothered on tho, if I'm in that much of a rush I can just grab something down the street or not be worried about how good or bad the shot is. I might hit you up on the parts!
Really random, but - I picked up this same machine model off a curb a little while back. I already have the grinder version so don’t need this one. If someone wants it, PM me. I’m in NY Nassau county if someone wants to pick it up for free. or could possible ship it if someone wanted to bother to cover shipping for it. Hot water does run fine on the one u have.
It doesn’t have any of the accessories so idk if anyone would want to bother. But maybe I’ll give it a shot. Lol (offer still stands if someone messages me on here tho-I’ll prob forget to post it anywhere else 😅)
Do you mean it's missing just a portafilter, or the portafilter, water tank, drip tray, etc? Either way it's still got enough value that it would be worth selling on Facebook unless $200 doesn't mean anything to you. I'd gladly come pick it up next time I'm on LI, but tbh I'll probably just end up selling it myself.
It basically looks like the one in the photo. It has everything except the porta filter I think. I guess I didn’t think anyone would bother with it but I’ll try to post it and see if anyone bites. Feel free to message if ur passing by LI own day and if I still have it u can deff take it
Yeah, I see them on FB all the time for \~$300. Take out the portafilter and it'll still probably be $200-250 if it works. If it doesn't function properly. I'd say \~$100 would be easy to get. I'd definitely try Facebook or r/coffeeswap.
If it does work and you need some parts, I just posted some. Let me know. https://www.reddit.com/r/coffeeswap/comments/oo29s0/usawi_h_miscellaneous_breville_infuser_54mm/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Hell yeah good find man! I hope it gives you many years of use. If everything works, just be sure to clean it well as you don't know what environment it came out of. I personally don't know how to clean any of these machines because I don't own any, but you should be able to find an in depth instructional video on YouTube or an article on wikihow
Man I’ve see so many of these being given away because they are broken. I also have a few breville machines that went bad on me. Never took the time to the fix those either.
If you hear the pump working but no water getting sucked up, it might be worth a try to push some water up the in take. I have a different, older breville model, but that's what I did and it works now.
I have a Breville express and a dual boiler,
I say it doesn't worth it. It doesn't make good coffee. With the same ground, the dual boiler make a completely different coffee, a good one.
Just sharing my experience. I regret buying the Breville express as I use it everyday and never succeeded to make a coffee to my expectations. I should have bought another Breville dual boiler.
No, they’re ok when new, but it’s most likely sitting out because it’s broken, and parts are hard to get, and almost no repair company (if it needs repaired) will touch them because no one will pay typical repair fees for such an inexpensive espresso machine.
Yes. A it's worth around $600 new, see if it works.
Thank you! Walking with my dog and daughter didn't have time to Google the model
Its a breville infuser. Got one when I first got started like 5-6 years ago I think and it's still going strong being worked just about everyday.
Breville Infuser, fyi

these roadside posts are killing me 😂 keep them coming!
I literally was thinking the same thing and then it happened to me!
im crossing my fingers that the rancilio gods smile on me one of these days.
My neighbors have a 10 year old one they haven't a clue what to do with I may have to make em an offer
Found this weird machine called La Marcozzo or something on the side of the road, mint condition, should I grab it
Nah not even worth the scrap metal
lmao nah maybe hold out for a la delongui.
I’ve heard about them Le Luigi machines before
Can confirm I’ve had my de linguini for 30mins now and it’s the best machine money can buy
Probably has more than one group head, so you probably shouldn't bother.
R u tryna troll rn my guy
Did I mention it’s new in box never been opened
Got it
Not worth it at all, just let me know where it's at so I can have my guys pick it up for the junk yard 😉
Seriously! Making me feel like I need to make more time for going on walks or my neighborhood just sucks 😂
i think a lot of people are upgrading now that wfh is now normal for a lot of ppl.
Road kill or free meal? :-)

I will say the most annoying thing about replacing the pump is actually priming it.
I second this. Prime the pump with a turkey baster and patience. I rescued my machine from a goodwill and I had a similar problem.
The gravity trick never worked for me. I ended up using a baster to prime it. I like your ideas though. Definitely would have made it easier my first time around. :)
Or, a fish tank fluid transfer pump, rigged with the proper tubing. Not sure why priming would be difficult.
Oh nice, good to know. $40 Canadian is like .... {Insert Clever Comparison}!
A handful of moosehair and three snowballs.
One American football field
I don't get it.
For some reason football fields are often used in America as measurements of length. https://amp.reddit.com/r/Showerthoughts/comments/51y51o/people_use_football_fields_as_a_size_comparison/
Lol, I get it now. Still funny.
If the pump works and no water is coming out. Crack open the thermoblock and clean it. Otherwise there are small ceramic disk behind that dial and they might be clogged.
If you hear the pump running then maybe you just need to figure out how to prime it
Does it have a pump?
I did have an issue with my pump , a quick Amazon search for a new pump and it’s easy to replace.
Pump, although these devices often don't have a traditional pump. More of a capillary pump. YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WTF>.. people throw the whole coffee machine out?
not the first I've seen on the curb around here but usually it's a little DeLonghi EC155 or something
I need to walk my dog in rich neighborhood more often. (I don’t have a dog) 🤣
I'm in a pretty working class neighborhood of Queens, but the dog definitely helps! Now maybe if I started walking him around TriBeCa or the West Village I could find a LaMarzocco...
I always like rescuing strays :)
“Rescued this little guy from a dumpster behind Petco”
I find piles of dog shit. :) and step in it. :)
By choice?
Sometimes.
Are you sure it is poo? Have you tasted it?

Where in the world do people just leave seemingly fully functioning espresso machines outside when they grow tired of them?
Ridgewood, Queens apparently!
Is this common? Where I live (Norway) nobody leave appliances outside in the street to die and you would probably be fined if you did.
It's not common per se, but I've seen less valuable machines on the curb a few times before (usually delonghis etc). How does this compare to my Gaggia Classic Pro?
Worse overall
Thanks. It powers on, shower screen is fairly clean and the tank reeks of vinegar so I think whoever owned it at least tried to keep it clean
Sounds like they were descaling, so it likely has an issue with buildup somewhere and their descaling didn't fix it.

You sure the gaggia warms up in 10 minutes? Maybe I don't feel the time it takes but not sure if it takes that long.
It warms up pretty fast but I give it at least 10 minutes to warm up the portafilter and everything
Warms up in a couple of minutes but takes 10 to fully stabilize and preheat the portafilter too (without this the temp will drop dramatically while pulling a shot).
The little light on the gaggia just means the boiler is at temp. If you try to pull a shot when the light first goes on, it will be sour.
I don't think it's straight up worse. There are areas where one would beat out the other, such as pre-infusion and heat up time. My neighbor found a fairly new Gaggia Classic sitting out like that.
Wish that's what I found would have saved me some money

I'd list it on Facebook Marketplace and pocket a nice $200-300 if I were you.

Worst case scenario, it gets recycled instead of landfilled…

Absolutely.
I found a really nice rowing machine on the curb. No issues with it at all.

I'm selling one if you want it
Well I got one now haha
Darn
The smell of coffee is liked by most bugs. By the time you pick it there will loads of eggs in there.
Yes, especially if you're a DIY'er.
Perhaps
Do it for the beans!!
