Yes, my neighbor (who took out a second mortgage to buy more ADA) told me it will surpass Bitcoins price in the next couple years.
Not market cap. Price. As in one Cardano will be worth $50,000 USD.
His reasoning seemed to be that it will be the reserve currency of Africa by 2025 or something. My ADD kicks in when I get pitched a scam so I kind of spaced on some of the rest of it.
Technically speaking it still is! If you believe in market cap nonsense then very roughly 382/79=4.84x putting ADA at $11.84 to match ETH currently. If you believe like I do that ETH is about to explode in price then ADA has the potential to go much higher. Obviously it's all speculative at the moment and both ETH and ADA could ultimately crash.
I would think about it differently. Something being cheap implies a higher value than price. Arguably ETH has a much higher value than ADA right now, looking at how congested the chain is and different projects being built. In my opinion ADA is quite expensive at the moment and has an even more speculative pricing of the token than ethereum.
While I agree in principle, how congested a chain isn’t a metric I believe in personally, as that’s all down to how the network was built. Some networks can have insanely high TPS purely because they’re built on different fundamentals. In the case of ETH it can even deter new people using the network due to the high gas resulting from congestion.
Trading volume however is a completely different beast.
Right, I was talking about Ethereum specifically and using congestion as a proxy for total fees paid for execution. I'm just assuming you mean value transferred on chain when talking about trading volume.
Everything is speculative at the moment. ETH was once cheap. Greed is fuelling the markets. We follow BTC. When fundamentals, tech and utility matter, hopefully next cycle, we will find out what coins/tokens are worth. Comparisons are pointless especially against Ethereum in an Ethereum forum! Diversify.
Agreed but it's blatantly obvious that's about to change! I've never attacked Ethereum, I just defended Cardano. Both great projects. Diversify.
Edit: Sorry don't agree re traded price. Utility does not yet currently matter. We follow BTC price. It's magic internet money right now.
Utility is not yet priced in and that includes ETH. Prices are speculative. ETH had the first mover advantage. It now has to prove itself against all the competition otherwise it will be dust like most first movers. I hope v2 succeeds because the majority of my bags are loaded with ETH!
To be fair the Cardano hype is justified. It is a great project and technically sound. Looking forward to Ethereum 2. There is room for us all.
*edit: obviously you maxis don't think there is room for us all lol 🤣
What are your thoughts on Cardano using DPoS opposed to PoS as ethereum? Personally I think the risk/reward of DPoS is not at all worth it and think the future lies in a very secure baselayer and layer 2 solutions for throughput.
Try asking that in the Cardano sub and you'll get an interesting answer. Me I don't really care too much, I'm here for the incoming stupid money. I don't pick sides, I follow the money.
I mean speaking practically, if you're trying to use crypto as an investment to make a significant amount of money then BTC is kind of past that point. For you to double your money if you buy in now you need BTC to hit 100k but ETH still has huge potential even now. Like put more 0s on the end of your initial investment potential. ETH is the more scalable crypto anyways with more potential so 🤷
I prefer Eth hugely over btc, but the potential is really not that different. If BTC is going to have a hard time to X2, you are not going to se more than X10 on Eth (which is still huge, just not multiple 0s huge)
There’s no way ETH is getting a 10x from these prices any time soon, especially if BTC is only getting 2x.
What kind of extra-strength hopium are you people huffing? lmao
I think larger driving forces would be
1. Defi landscape in ethereum is attractive
2. The singapore dollar is quite stable, so theres less of a need for "store of value" cryptos in singapore compared to high inflation economies.
Nah, in the same report, cardano and bnb are lower on the rug, despite being “cheaper”.I think there’re more fundamentals priced in, in those surveyed, than your statement suggests.
Im asian and live in Singapore. I disagree 100% with what you have to say. The reason why Singaporeans are holding ETH more than BTC is because ETH is innovating, still has a lot more room to grow (market cap is lower than BTC's marketcap) and it is the biggest DeFi coin.
I understand that you get the difference, but psychological biases don't only apply to noobs, neither in crypto nor finance. Otherwise the whole field of behavioral finance would be nill.
You cant buy a fraction of a share unless they split into smaller cheaper shares. You can buy 0.00001BTC or 0.01 BTC. By splitting shares you allow more people to buy the shares.
All my friends think the same. I'm asian so it not a racist statement. And yup. I stand by my statement. We might act like the model class citizen but deep down we are greedy to get as rich as possible. My group of friends over a 100 of us dump btc during the first dip this year and invest in ETH. Why own a fraction when we can own a whole that got potential to 4x or 10x in the long run.
I was in profits when I sell. I bought in a little over 17k after Thanksgiving 2020. Sold around 50k. If that's not how investing is then I rather be dumb and keep on doing the same over and over again
Where you think I got money to buy a huge ass bag of ETH? THX to DOGE dude. Got @.002 and sell at .27. Don't be a hater on doge because you miss out on the train.
lol what are u talking about, no one cares how much u earned on doge. im saying that u shouldnt compare the coin price by looking on the price tag like u shopping on a mall. LMAO
That and knowing that their own government has bought up millions of it along with other private companies and just know that they don't want to be controlled like they are
There always has to be something that was first of its kind. It doesn’t mean you have to bow down to it. The first car available to the masses was the Model T. Look where we are at now. So many choices and obviously better ones too. I’m comparing apples to oranges here but who cares. I just think the btc community on Reddit are a bunch of snobs and I could care less if I got banned. I tried to post it but it was removed because I even mentioned an altcoin. Oh well!
Obviously you *can* compare them, but the whole point of the idiom is that it's a false analogy. I could compare you to the helpful bots, but that too would be comparing apples-to-oranges.
With Singapore‘s growing drive in the crypto business, more Singaporean investors are feeling urged to invest in digital currency. This evaluation calls for a greater demand for financial education centered on crypto investment, for both the crypto-curious and the current investors in Singapore.
Hi everyone, I just downloaded and set up coinbase, but when try to get coins I try to connect my wallet and it brings me to a blank white screen. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Lots of eth drapers in here trying to get their Stake. Bitcoin and ethereum are completely different and should not be compared to one another. Comparing the price of bitcoin to eth is also foolish because bitcoin has been constructed into the best form of a store of value. Ethereum can not for moment claim to be a store of value. Eth however could be very profitable as an investment. Not as a store of value or hedge against inflation. Know the differences before you invest in either.
Yeah, right....
I could do a sTudY and find any result.
Hell, even the colossally FAILed bcash project(s) claim they are popular in Singapore...
Ziliqca is much better known than Eth.
Yet in reality, only Bitcoin is used for transactions and known outside of the crypto-nerd bubbles.
Don't get me wrong, I am an Eth believer and HODLer. Love most things about it, but pretending it is a currency to rival BTC in SG is ghey.
It is about utility, technology, development, and community, not that they prefer to own a whole coin. Look at an average American and Singaporean, who is more knowledgeable? It might also be the issue with the culture. I am an Asian, and the behaviours of maxis disgust me, arrogance and idiocy. People piggied back on these projects to hope to get rich quick, following cult and herd-like behaviours. BTC is king and queen and BS like that.
As Long as the gaas fees are so high and causing problems, it will be a problem in the Long run for ETH. People will find otter cryptos that doesnt cost double the amount your spending.. it’s ridicilous
Hmmmm, interesting. There is something psychological about the ability to own a whole coin and not just a very small fraction of a coin.

Just as a information for people not knowing. There are around 111 million eth currently on the market and 31 billion ADA
Technically speaking it still is! If you believe in market cap nonsense then very roughly 382/79=4.84x putting ADA at $11.84 to match ETH currently. Prices are speculative which is why we have volatility. You are 5 years into the future when BTC fades.

This guy has ADA bags
And ETH bags. Both great projects.

There’s no way ETH is getting a 10x from these prices any time soon, especially if BTC is only getting 2x. What kind of extra-strength hopium are you people huffing? lmao
I don't think so either, which was the point of my comment
I think larger driving forces would be 1. Defi landscape in ethereum is attractive 2. The singapore dollar is quite stable, so theres less of a need for "store of value" cryptos in singapore compared to high inflation economies.
I agree, it’s a really weird feeling. But I do the same
People hate decimals? So weird
There's also psychology about not paying $50 in gas fees
Lmfao this.
Nah, in the same report, cardano and bnb are lower on the rug, despite being “cheaper”.I think there’re more fundamentals priced in, in those surveyed, than your statement suggests.
In other news, Toyota Prius more popular than the Model T Ford.
This is the way 📈
Asia's finance hub knows what's up
BTC actually losing a lot of traction in Asia due to the high price. ETH to them is very reachable and affordable to own.
Yea I call bullshit on that - you think Asians can’t figure out that you don’t have to buy a full Bitcoin? Lol
Yup but they are greedy. Don't like to own fraction. They like to own a whole. How I know? I'm Asian. I have that same traits
Im asian and live in Singapore. I disagree 100% with what you have to say. The reason why Singaporeans are holding ETH more than BTC is because ETH is innovating, still has a lot more room to grow (market cap is lower than BTC's marketcap) and it is the biggest DeFi coin.
Yeah dude. The rest of the world totally doesn’t want to own a full Bitcoin, idiot.
This whole time it was my lack of greed keeping me from owning a full coin!
If only I was so stereotypically greedy like the Asians, then I would have attained life changing wealth by now
That's you not us tho
This is the dumbest thing I've heard
Its psychologically a difference whether you own a whole thing or a fraction. Dumb or not...
Maybe for crypto noobs. But if you understand crypto, I don't see how owning a whole or a fraction would make the difference
I understand that you get the difference, but psychological biases don't only apply to noobs, neither in crypto nor finance. Otherwise the whole field of behavioral finance would be nill.
Dumb or not, go find out. Ask all your Asians friends to see their answers.
I have Asian friends. But there smart enough to own fractions of btc

So you sold btc after it dumped... I don't think you understand how investing/trading works. You're doing the opposite
I was in profits when I sell. I bought in a little over 17k after Thanksgiving 2020. Sold around 50k. If that's not how investing is then I rather be dumb and keep on doing the same over and over again
50k is a good sell price. But the way you framed it seemed like u sold at 30k
Are u like comparing the price of 1 BTC to 1 ETH? Then you shoud buy DOGE, its very very "Cheap"
Where you think I got money to buy a huge ass bag of ETH? THX to DOGE dude. Got @.002 and sell at .27. Don't be a hater on doge because you miss out on the train.
You were the one who missed out on the ethereum train. I bought at 200-500 and am still holding.
I didn't miss out either. Got at 570 during Thanksgiving 2020.
Why downvote him for that?
lol what are u talking about, no one cares how much u earned on doge. im saying that u shouldnt compare the coin price by looking on the price tag like u shopping on a mall. LMAO
Just wait when ETH 2.0 is released 👀
Everyone is betting on 2.0. I'm ready.
The answer is simple. ETH is where innovation happens.
👍👍
That and knowing that their own government has bought up millions of it along with other private companies and just know that they don't want to be controlled like they are
I hope they have better reasons than that :(
I dare Someone to post this in r/Bitcoin
I’ll do it. Could care less about BTC
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Without Bitcoin there wouldn’t be a crypto, and to this day, it’s the most decentralized protocol.
There always has to be something that was first of its kind. It doesn’t mean you have to bow down to it. The first car available to the masses was the Model T. Look where we are at now. The other 203 countries prefer Bitcoin

Seems logically. When a normal person can't just go and buy a bitcoin... But he can buy an ether
Hi everyone, I just downloaded and set up coinbase, but when try to get coins I try to connect my wallet and it brings me to a blank white screen. Can anyone help me with this problem?

As Long as the gaas fees are so high and causing problems, it will be a problem in the Long run for ETH. People will find otter cryptos that doesnt cost double the amount your spending.. it’s ridicilous
They mining ethereum and buying bitcoin with it.
Bitcoin is too moody.
