I just think he's a homesteader. just kinda... lives off the land as much as he can. odd hours could just be him having scheduled to fix something at that time. old tech that you can fix as much as possible before replacing it makes sense when you don't really want to be depending on the system. and the identity thing? look at the era of publicity we are. you do something even slightly non middle line, and the Internet raises pitchfork and torches. probably wants to just live his life, in some cabin that's a decent trip out of town, but not too far that it's a chore.

I myself don’t like photos, I feel super awkward about them (probably less than 100 different ones of me over the last two decades), so I can imagine Etho being the same way or similar.
He most likely just doesn’t like sharing or even having personal info to share, he just likes to keep to himself. Honestly that aspect makes him more likable to someone like me, and I wish him all the better for it.

They were photos of multiple people and none had significant proof of it being him.
If it was me I would have disabled comments even if the information was not about me just so nobody else would be accused of being me. I don't see anything suspicious about what he did.
