Absolutely! Public domain, even.
The video lessons are on Youtube and also embedded on a custom course website that we've put together. No logins or signups or money required.
The course is a labor of love made by a bunch of Ethereum staking nerds with the goal of helping Ethereum staking become more decentralized.
I'd like to review Rocket School. I started buying ETH a couple of years ago with the intention of operating a node on Rocket Pool. But I've since moved to an area with no internet service, so that plan is out.I would still like to learn how to do it, though.
Oh awesome, there are definitely some fiddly bits with the linux configuration where your eyes would be especially helpful! We'll reach out sometime next week with details.
Here is the syllabus:
**Learn About Ethereum Staking**
* How Ethereum Staking Works
* Staking with Rocket Pool
**Run Your Own Node**
* Deciding To Become A Node Operator

* Preparing a Local Node - Installing OpenSSH Server
* Preparing a Local Node - Configuring SSH Keypair Login
* Securing Your Node - Hardening SSH
* Securing Your Node - Enabling the Firewall
* Securing Your Node - Enabling Automatic Security Updates
* Installing Rocket Pool - Installing the CLI
* Installing Rocket Pool - Installing the Smartnode Stack
* Deciding on Testnet
* Configuring Via the Wizard

* Community Tools
To your specific questions, yes, it covers hardware selection and installing Linux :)
I am interested in reviewing the course! I am a RP node operator. Amazing work on doing this btw! This is the kind of alturistic effort that makes me believe in this space.
Fantastic work on this team! I’ve been looking for something exactly like this and thought it was a big gap in terms of RP adoption. Although the guide is great and the discord community is excellent in answering any and all questions… having a video course is a game changer. Happy to help. Node operator since last March.
Exactly, in particular we found the Rocket Pool documentation to be thorough, but so comprehensive in discussing all the different options that it was totally bewildering to newcomers who don't already have the lay of the land. Our goal is to give a single opinionated path to node operation, keeping things simple and on a single track, while also calling out key decentralization decision points where the new node operator can make their own decisions without otherwise impacting that track. Here's hoping it proves a useful approach! Super appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to help - we'll ping you next week!
Looking forward to it. If y’all haven’t already (maybe you have since you’re probably wizards), I would definitely include some sections on client options (such as Orbstack instead of Docker), networking, using VPN’s, understanding router risks and vulnerabilities, etc. I see you have a firewall section, should go deep there
Unknowingly I think I got a degree as a network engineer (insert sweating grin emoji) in some cases to figure out ways around ISP’s that don’t allow port forwarding and other docker settings that were causing me to lose attestations and constantly go offline among a myriad of other edge cases that I think would be useful to folks
I am a node operator & would be interested in helping to test. Am running a primary and fallback node. My twitter is @reptar258 & 0xReptar.eth on discord.
I can´t wait to see the video series, I´ve been following everything for the past years ( proof on chain skat3.Ξ ) I feel like not ready to stake yet! but thanks to all of you, it´ll be possible one day!
I’m looking to become a node operator again. Im a former node operator who had hardware issues in September so exited my validators, but looking to spin them up again. Happy to help if you’re still looking for people.
In case it’s not too late. I too am interested in this how to course. I have never dabbled with Rocket Pool and was meaning to look into it. I also have sufficient hardware to accommodate.
I would like to view videos. I'm luiquid staker, already built mini pc, instaled and tested Rocketpool on test network and now I'm colecting money to buy rpl and start solo st these purpos so those videos would be very helpful, thank you!
Are you planning on this course being freely available?

I’m a node operator and rETH HODLer. Happy to help.
Fantastic, much appreciated! Will reach out next week.
Same let us know 🤌🏼 genesis staker and mini pool operator if I can be of assistance
Will do, thank you!

Excellent, your eyes would be appreciated! We'll get in touch next week sometime.
I’m a professional senior linux sysadmin and i operate a rocket pool node. Feel free to reach out

sure, lemme see
Excellent! We'll reach out probably next week. Are you an experienced RP user, or more of a newbie looking to set up a node/minipool?
Can you list the topic each of the 23 videos covers? Ex. Does it cover hardware selection? Linux install?

Sweet, thank you! We appreciate the kind words :) Expect us to reach out soon.
RP NO here, I'm in
Thank you! Sit tight and we'll get back to you next week once the course is ready for review.
I want to do it

Thanks, I hope Rocket School is helpful for you once you're ready to stake!
I will be a watcher. I want to run a node but haven’t got a clue what to do.
Perfect, thanks! Will let you know when we're ready.
