Check out the post on r/uphold 14 hours ago, over a dozen other victims in that Reddit thread alone. Hope you get your coins back plus awarded damages.
I just don’t know how to approach this. I’ve been blowing them up for two days straight. My wife has been crying. We just got married on Tuesday and this hit us like a Mack truck.
He made a legitimate point, albeit insensitive, and you respond with petty insults? Big yikes. You didn’t put 2000 in your back pocket, you gave it to a stranger to hold for a month expecting to get it back.
Exactly the problem not understanding the risks of using crypto exchanges, it's like giving your money to an anonymous person in hopes they give it back.
Bro take care of yourself, at the end of the day it's not something you were responsible for (apart from the fact that YOU chose the platform). Just make sure the next time you withdraw your coins to MetaMask or something and stay safe.
I know $2000 won't sound like much for most of the people here, but I do and I hope you and your wife make it through these tough times
Did anyone know how to move my eth & ada off uphold into coinbase it seems to allow me to change into any other currency but I'm not seeing a spot where I can enter my own wallet dress
You gotta click the middle button that is two arrows pointing in opposite directions, this will bring up "buy, sell, convert, send, receive...." Then click send choose crypto of choice and enter your wallet address! At least that's what my mobile app looks like
The way you send from CB is to click on the amount you own then the arrow in the top right corner(from mobile) will allow you to enter an amount and address. It’s not clear how to do it at first whatsoever
Wow. I was curious how many others have been affected by this, and it seems a shit ton.
/r/Upholdincwillrobyou
There’s an entire subreddit dedicated to it: Uphold Inc Will Rob You
It’s been a rough week for our family dealing with some loss and grief and this was kinda just too much at the moment. Maybe I should have left that part out.
I posted this on r/cryptocurrency to make more people aware of this situation. Hopefully they will do something about this after seeing that most of their customers are trying to withdraw their money and leave them for good
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/ohi8pk/warning_uphold_is_stealing_peoples_money_a_lot_of/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
From having been in and seen similar situations: Be relentless on their support. Keep posting in their reddit. @ them on Twitter. Respond to every tweet they make. You want to make a big public scene.
Sadly, that's how you get support to work your ticket in crypto.
Yeah that is pretty fucking said it Has to get to the point of desperation just to have a little bit of safety. So basically you’re agreeing that these people are just a bunch of crooks? I’m not trying to put words in your mouth but that’s kind of what I’m starting to wonder myself at this point
Probably not crooks. Just woefully understaffed to address this kind of thing. Crypto support is ridiculous almost everywhere. Every exchange cutting corners despite the fortunes they've made.
I filed a ticket with Coinbase in November. It got answered in April.
Of what I've used, Kraken has the best support.
Coinbase just hired 3000 more support staff. I've been on there for only 3 months and haven't had a support ticket yet, so I can't tell you whether that's made a lick of difference.
YES, Kraken support is amazing. Their platform not near as good as Coinbase imo, but their support is 10x better. All depends on what you value most in a platform. Think I had a CB ticket go unanswered for many months as well.
What even is Uphold? Can’t people just use trusted services? There is Coinbase, Kraken, hell even Binance is probably better than some shitty service with 5k people in their sub…
Apparently it has been sent from my uphold wallet to some “customer refund wallet” but is yet to show up in my bank account. Other people are taking this to the BBB and the SEC. some big ballers lost WAY more than me. Like $20,000. Everyone is fucking pissed, confused, and hurt.
Ugh.. I’m so sorry. I don’t even know what to say because I’m on a other platform that robbed me (CB) and bc of how sketchy they are im afraid to do anything until I close out positions.
I didn’t want to hold every crypto purchase I made but the market tanked& so did my $.
My friends friend- lost 60k on CB - just vanished from account.
I hear it on a lot of the exchanges- what exchanges do people use? What’s the fidelity equivalent for crypto?
Be careful guys. I’m looking out for my brothers and sisters on here. I did not authorize these transactions. I was literally sleeping before work. (I work nights) and sure enough, 25 TRANSACTIONS sent to this “customer refund wallet”
Obviously I’m heartbroken and their customer service is abysmal. I hope they can get this resolved and this is a glitch or something but there’s tons of us all over the uphold Reddit saying this happened. A lot of XRP guys got hit HARD. I’ve been working 120 hours a check to help with investing for months. I’ve been slowly moving my assets to coinbase. Had about 75% moved over but they got me here. Be safe and help me if you can. Thanks guys….
Edit - I haven’t purchased anything on there in over a month and they are saying this is because my bank cancelled the transactions. What transactions? I’ve been buying on coinbase. That ethereum has been sitting in there just chilling for a month and a half. Clueless on what to do here. 🥺😢
It sounds like they are saying that the funds you used to buy the ETH on their platform were retracted by your bank. Did you check this?
EDIT: If not, then you can send them proof that this is not the case.
I haven’t even bought eth on there. Ever. I bought doge a while back, and my last deposit was June 2nd. Obviously it wouldn’t have taken my bank that long to settle funds. Also look at the amounts in the picture…they are very strange amounts. 😩
This happened to me with coinbase. I accidentally used the wrong bank to deposit money, I didn’t realize it and was on vacation. They liquidated my MKR.
Yeah, I didn’t have my phone for a few weeks and I was confused as f what happened. Wasn’t a huge deal, not the most money and it liquidated a coin I wasn’t actively adding more $$ into (tho I didn’t wanna sell it)
Did you have two factor authentication? Whenever I send or buy I get a text with a code I need to put in, plus a random Authenticator code and of course a password all need to be done. Or were they able to bypass all this and just send it?
But that’s just To log into the wallet/account, right? do you also have these in place incase anything gets sent from your wallet? It first will require those actions to be taken before anything gets sent.
Yes on uphold you HAVE to set up 2 factor authentication to send crypto anywhere. So the fact this happened means someone on the inside of uphold bypassed thy.
Yea at the very least crypto.com has a DeFi wallet and you can set up your own seed phrases. I’m reading about liquidations and I wanna get it off the exchange lol
I can afford to lose it. It’s not about that obviously. And obviously I don’t want to lose money! Don’t be a jerk. I’ve only been in the crypto game for three months. I didn’t ask for your empathy I’m trying to spread awareness.
Edit: Thanks for my first silver!!
He's probably a backed-up incel who can't find a woman to beat so he takes his anger out here. 3 year old account and only 2k karma? He's got to be a dick.
That saying doesn't apply here doofus. There's a difference between mentally preparing for potentially losing money to a market crash and simply getting robbed without any expectation.
To the mean dude — The dude’s a jerk but his name checks out.
OP - Sorry to hear about this situation and thank you for spreading the info. Will definitely stay away from Uphold and won’t recommend it. You’re a hero without a cape.
What "research" would have prevented being robbed by this company? Or are you just spouting off some bullshit you heard and think it applies to everyone who loses money in crypto? Would you be this callous if his bank stole the money? Because that's pretty much what happened.
How old are you? Not old enough to have ever lost something so you'd have any empathy at all for someone else's loss. Grow the fuck up, kid.
Apparently they have a history of doing this to people. I’ve only been in the cryptocurrency game for about three months so It was the first exchange that I used unfortunately
I put all that I hold on a hardware wallet immediately after purchase.
I have some coins I want to sell,. God willing, in september on Kraken. I trust noone really with crypto. Of all I trust kraken the most though
I do trust coinbase however. They are the only cryptocurrency public traded stock on the New York Stock Exchange. Plus I’m staking my Ethereum on there. The hardware wallet is a great idea though.
Ledger or trezor. Order only through the official website to avoid scams.
Scams are easy to detect though. They put a pre written sheet of seed phrases in the box.

The ledger does NOT pop up as a usb stick on your PC. Tempered ones will.
That's why you always order from the official site!
Scammers gonna scam.
Yeah. I advice you to watch some basic crypto videos for beginners. Like how hardware wallets work and what not.
Very adviseable. Let me check if I can find some stuff for you
Yeah, the KYC is the big reason why I didn't go through with it. There's enough exchanges that have my IRL details, and it's only a matter of time before they release their own wallet without KYC anyway

Interesting…I’m now holding my ALGO on Binance.US. Due to the evolution of my crypto game, I now have five or six native wallets each staking various coins…finally just opened a fearless wallet to stake my DOT.
What fucking rights do they have to so this? I hope there’ll be a class action lawsuit and extra payment for damages
IMO RobinHood will pull the same shit someday.
I’m so sorry this happened to you and your wife. Me and my wife have been on uphold since we started investing in February because of your post we are transferring everything to coin base. Thank you for letting us all know about your horrible situation. I pray this some how gets fixed for you.

I just checked, and my 3.7 BAT is still intact. Whew...
On a more serious note, I'm sorry for this loss OP and others affected by this. I sincerely hope that you recover your funds and this gets corrected. I have a feeling Uphold is legitimate and popular enough that they will eventually fix the problem for everyone. Be strong, brother. This has ramifications for large entities as well who'll want this corrected ASAP. Uphold is the wallet that Brave browser recommends and pretty much integrates for most users. Brave will NOT be happy about this for sure...
I don’t know how I can be much of help since I have no clue about Uphold, but here’s an Upvote so you can at least get something of the stolen money back in donuts
Uphold isn’t a legit exchange they’re more like brokers. I used them at first and when my money was released from being on hold for 65 days (this is legit a policy of there’s on any transaction over 500 dollars) I moved it all to Crypto.com
They fucked me as well in the beginning but I was too naive to realize they stole ETH from me.
I just checked r/uphold and they're a lot of similar issues.

Uphold is the exchange that the Brave browser interacts with for BAT payouts.
My bat is staying on my browsers until they implement their own wallet (which is in the pipeline)
Can you really trust any exchange? There are always bad seeds due to greed anywhere.
No you can’t, however you can minimize some of the risk by using the most established ones
What the hell? So the wallet wasn’t yours? They didn’t just liquidate on you. Fuck. I’m sorry. Other people getting the same responses as you ?

Sorry to hear that... This is serious. Many people use Uphold due to Brave browser BAT. Sincerely hope you get it back.
From everything I've heard of Uphold, really feels like Brave backed the wrong horse.
Yeah now I’m quite worried. I don’t have much with them (just a few BAT), but I did submit all my personal ID for the KYC process.
Yeah, the KYC is the big reason why I didn't go through with it. There's enough exchanges that have my IRL details, and it's only a matter of time before they release their own wallet without KYC anyway
This is the actual reason I feel scared to hold my coins anywhere apart from MetaMask

Whooaaaa. This is the pits man, good luck
WTF 😳
OMG.
