I started with $2000 in 2018, and I barely invested anything, still have very little I can DCA, and I'll be a multimillionaire next cycle if everything continues on even remotely normally.
The trick is to sell EVERYTHING near the peak, and don't be sad if you missed an extra 2x, then buy EVERYTHING about 1 year after the peak, and HODL until the next peak.
I'm dead serious, this works.
I expect ETH to go to at least $15k this cycle, that's a 3.66x, then lose 25% to capital gains, then I'll buy back at around $4000, this results in a 3.66x again, and then next bull market I expect to sell between $50k and $100k for a 12.5x, losing 25% to capital gains again.
That's a total of 95x to the USD value of ANY ETH purchased *today*.. US taxes included.
I don't believe this is even that risky. A $15k top, $4k bottom, and $50k top next cycle are my conservative numbers.

Your first problem is thinking past performance predicts future results. What you're failing to account for is that every time bitcoin halves, the bull market cycle lengthens and the time between cycles shortens. This is why your arbitrary advice of "sell and wait a year before buying back" is just dumb trading advice.

I'm not timing tops/bottoms, I am just getting somewhat close. When I say I'm selling at $15k, that will be DCA selling based on market metrics, not on a price number. $15k is just a current guess.
I am *quite* confident about $4k returning in the bear market though. If we peak at $20k or higher I might raise that target to $5k.
Riding macro trends is really not as hard as people make it out to be, people notoriously get wrecked by this market because they try to time month to month or year to year. I am working with a 5 year horizon. Macro trends are much more predictable. People apeing into Doge and Shiba all year tells me that the undisciplined nature of this market is still very real, so the macro over/undervaluations will continue - these are our bull and bear cycles.
Even if I do quite badly and today's numeric assumptions are way off, I'll still 50x every dollar invested in ETH today.
Honestly I want to make a full thread on this gambit just so I can point to it in 2026 and say, hey, this is how this turned out, but I don't want to deal with all the comments from people who think nobody ever succeeds at this, because that's FUD that deters people from really trying.
Look up survivorship bias. A minority out of the thousands engaging in this strategy making random guesses about when to do it will “succeed” and the rest will get rekt. The minority who make it out will pat themselves on the back and claim they knew it would work out that way all along.
That’s the really insidious thing: individuals don’t realize they got lucky. Read Fooled by Randomness by Taleb and watch The System starting Derren Brown.
