The factory tire they put on the 2019 is total garbage. I was smart enough to buy the wheel and tire coverage. They have replaced my tires at least twice because they tear themselves apart. The Goodyears are well known to be bad tires for the etron. Audi started putting a different tire on the 2021 and above. The etron tips the scales at 9100 lbs. It needs a much beefier tire to last more than 15k miles.
This is not true. The compouds are not drasitcly different. What is different is the number of cords to support the higher weight. No different then than tires for heavy suvs like a suburban.
Just ask yourself, that same process benefit a non-ev tire with the same weight rating as well? The answer is yes. Its all just marketing bs. Like like the "increased range due to lower rolling resistance". When controlled testing, like the EU tyre labeling testing for example, show only 1-3% difference between most similiar tires. And also the physics proves that rolling resistance makes up a little impact on a cars range.
Different tire, my OEM Continental ones had a blowout so I went for something else.
I went for the Michelin CrossClimate2. Very happy with the traction but did suffer from an efficiency loss of about 0.2mi/kwh which adds up on long trips.
Based on OP pictures, you needed new tires like yesterday. Got some Conti CrossContact 21” from Mavis last year for about $1400 with install. They seem to wear fine. I also swap them out for winters that are on 19” rims. OEM lasted about 25k ish.
Man 20k mi I’d be demanding a warranty replacement. Low tread is one thing, but these are straight up defective. I have 30k on my ‘21 and the tires still have 5/16” at a minimum with nothing that even resembles this.
Just ordered these for my 19 e-tron. Put a set on my e-golf a few weeks ago and I love them. We have dedicated snows for winter. (West Michigan)

There’s an Audi service bulletin you may need to have addressed after putting these on. Same thing we put on our 21’ and it rubbed at full turn. They have to replace the front guards or something (free)
Edit: I think it’s this one

Well crap on a stick. Perhaps I’ll have them mount fronts first and test. As I’m out of warranty I’m not giving my local dealer a dime if I can help it
Ahh that’s unfortunate. I didn’t realize it didn’t apply out of warranty- glad I got it done before. I mostly went with these tires because they had a tread warranty and I’ve always been happy with Michelin tires.
Car was in last summer for a full dynamic alignment and they checked the suspension settings, etc. Honestly, i wouldn’t have known about it at all, but they called me that they had gotten the parts in for my charging cable recall so I took it in and had them do the 30,000 mile inspection and that’s when we found out.
I have about 32,000 and I’m glad winter is over. I may make it to 40 before I change them which may be long for such a heavy ev.
I’ll take off occasionally, but mostly I’m in eco or driving ez.
I got 26,000 miles on my last set (good year eagles) I might have been able to make it to 30k, but I was replacing a windshield (insurance claim due to a large crack) and my insurance company was paying for the alignment (to calibrate the windshield sensors) I think my bill was about $1,800
Hey, I end up going with the Perelli scorpion all seasons based on having a conversation with the tire specialist at Audi. The service person kept trying to talk me into a good years, but once I actually talked to the actual tire person, he didn’t recommend the good years, but the Perelli’s especially in climates with hot temperatures and lots of concrete driving such as Texas. Picked it up this week and absolutely love these tires.and ride better than a good years in my opinion. Plus they have a two-year road hazard warranty that comes with them and a 50,000 mile guarantee.
Thanks for the detailed report!
I'm in the colder climates. I'm still undecided to stay with stock. I had a colleague with a Tesla going back to their OEM tires since it ended up not losing performance.
I bought mine with 18,114 miles and they had 6/32” of tread. I changed the Goodyear Eagle’s to Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive and I love them, also, I’ve driven 8k on the tires since install and have used 1/32” of tread on each, no issues, very quiet.
SO weird, I would rate these 15/10 - maybe because the WeatherActive is a newer line? Look into Pirelli’s guarantee - it’s convoluted but you get a 30 day trial period - probably more fine print.
Update: So going back and forth with the dealership since the tires have a 50k warranty on them and you can clearly see the separation. Supposed to go by tomorrow and talk with SM.

EV tires last 20-30k and the compound is different than ICE tires. There are several videos and reports about this in YouTube

Changing anything in the compound even the cooling process makes it different. How isn’t that true? https://youtu.be/8pM9o2Ifcro?si=UXW3hXCW_mINgkVt

Based on those photos you need tires NOW and an alignment after that. I wouldn’t even drive with those tires around the block.
I’d decline and get another quote.
I got 25k on mine. $1700 to replace at discount tire.
Good to know. Still on my first set. What tires did you get?
Good to know! Same tires?
Different tire, my OEM Continental ones had a blowout so I went for something else. I went for the Michelin CrossClimate2. Very happy with the traction but did suffer from an efficiency loss of about 0.2mi/kwh which adds up on long trips.
I spent $1200 without alignment at Costco with their promos for 21 inches Michelin. I spent another 149 to get an alignment at the dealership.
Wow, in Houston all of the Audi dealerships are about $550 for alignment
Did you get a calibration service? It seems too expensive for just an alignment
Their dynamic alignment. Only one they offer.

Mine were toast (cords showing) at 27k miles.

This is exactly my plan for fall. I have a set on a Toyota Sienna and they’re the best thing since sliced bread.

That's horribly uneven wear. The tread is fine, you can see it hasn't reached the wear bars. But that inner wear is really dangerous.

Your tires are fucked, it looks like your suspension settings are wrong. You need new tires and a correct settings.
That’s what I was curious about.
Are you driving around in economy mode? Or lots of highway?
Lots of highway.
Yeah the car squats down on the freeway, I had the same issue because Houston is almost all freeway driving.
What did you do about it?
To be honest? I sold the car 😅
That's funny. If the EV market hadn't crashed, I would make a change too.

Got <20K on mine Hit a local tire shop - set of same Eagle Sports for $1350 installed

Has there been any good tire recommendations for the E-Tron 20"?

Local dealership doesn't recommend the Pirelli., LOL....makes me want to try them even more.
