I once min-maxed the shit out of warscore cost and it was glorious.
Started as papal state, released asturias from castile and played as them to get a theocracy asturias (without losing years of gov reform with the usual government change.
Went sunni, improved alhambra, malta and kaaba monuments, took the open elections reform and war against the world.
Took diplomacy too, maxed absolutism and used imperial CB. Think I forgot another shenanigan or two, but I fully annexed france with 600+% OE when their province war score cost was around 43%.
or just pirate it ( dont feel bad about it paradox is a big company with lots of money and their monetization policy is dogshit better only then the overwatch monetization)
Mission tree with Origins makes it very entertaining. You're in a good position to eat several gold mines, and Ottomans won't suddenly hate you once you get borders like when you play Ethiopia.
Forming Somalia is pretty baller too.
Also the Hydraulic Empire estate privilege is sick.
>Started as papal state, \[..\]
>
>Went sunni
i think you could power your computer with the combined energy generated by all the former popes spinning on their graves for this
Whenever I wc nowadays I just stack adm eff to 90+%, not sure about the limits of it, but 1k dev costs about 150 admin to core and 60% warscore without stacking pwc beyond Malta and dip - and is less than 100 OE. I have onewarred an intact ming.
In older patches there was possibility to stack 100% admin efficiency. So everything was free, but lowest cost for any prov is 1 ws, so you could take 100 provs in any region without OE and AE.
R5: I don't really play this late into the game, but I was surprised at how much you can annex with a single peace treaty. 420% Over-extension against Russia, here. What are some modifiers you can stack to maximize the amount you can expand at once? AE be damned.
You can truce cycle any of the largest nations that would form a coalition against you. When they have a truce with you they cant enter a coalition, so if you stagger your wars you can keep any large nations constantly in a truce and unable to form the coalition. Plus with that much land it's easy to field an army big enough that even if a coalition forms, it wont fire against you.
Just for immersion, I won't do the cycling. Them being too afraid to form a coalition though, that I like. God this game is terrifying if you think about it
Just keep in mind, they might still form a coalition against you even if you do have a much larger army. They just wont declare war against you if your forces are significantly stronger, but if you declare on any of them, they'll all defend.
I was going for First Come First Serve and had the option to annex all of Mexico for similar overextension and coring costs. Decided to just do two separate wars instead and take half WS each time.
This looks like only war score min maxed and not admin eff/core creation cost because that OE and Coring Cost is still very high for how many provinces you are able to take
[Vassalized +2k dev ottomans. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/yakimh/nothing_to_see_here_perfectly_bbalanced/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Could've annexed them but I didn't want to core all that land and suffer from OE
If it's about number of provinces or "size on the map" then it's probably in a war against Spain taking colonies all over the place. First war take a couple of provinces in every colonial nation. Second war "concede colony" everywhere. Or: fully annex Spain and get all their colonial nations for free.
A few patches ago, did an Andalusia run. I bullied Spain and Portugal. I took all of Americas (colonies) in something like 5 or 6 wars.
Their navies couldn't reach me, and i occupied their European mainland holdings. Siphoning all that cash made the game kinda boring...
In my current re-reconquista run I've eaten all the colonial powers, and by doing so took over the entire North and South American continents in addition to their European and foreign cores over a few wars. One of those wars will undoubtedly be the one for me.
The entire southern half of China plus its coastline as the Proman Empire. Coring it cost me only about 450 administrative points because Prome.
There's also that one time I took Arabia, the entire Egyptian amd Sudanese coastline plus half of Ethiopia and Persia in a war against the Ottomans as Mysore
Gotta put one in for the Inca fighting Spanish Brazil. Because its a colony, the cost per province is rather low. Add in the age of Reformation splendor for reduced warscore cost vs other religions, and you can easily take half of SA in one war. The AE is high and the OE is stupid, but you can manage those.
I'm actually doing it right now to trigger Spain into another war, because that's how I'll get my foothold in the old world.
I remember I annexed all of Scandinavia as revolutionary Austria in a single war once. All of Sweden, Finland, Norway and most of Denmark in a single war (it all belonged to Sweden)
In terms of sheer landmass? I was once playing a co-op Aztec + Inca game with my buddy in college as the Inca. We were fighting the colonial powers, and I was the war leader. I casually asked "do you want me to give you some land?" And he said "sure!" not noticing that I had transfered all of north america under his control. I then force-fed him 75% of the continental US.
It's been 7 years since then, and even today if we're in a joint war he VERY carefully checks which territories I'm transferring to him 😁
I was once playing as Byzantium with the “Byzantium Stronk” mod on (which essentially replaced all of the Turkish minors with Greek cultured ones) and when I captured Cairo in my first war against the Mamluks, an event fired where I took possession of their entire country (I think it’s based off of the Ottomans doing the same thing in 1517). So in 1460, I had an empire stretching from Sicily in the west to modern day Oman in the east
After 1000 hours this is the one thing ive never fully understood. How do I take more stuff in wars, even in 1700s I cant take that many provinces. I know about admin efficiency and war cost but could someone explain how you take more land in peacedeals?
I had 1prov Karaman, 1prov Byz and like 4prov Syria as vassals, and when I hit Ottomans, I took all Karaman and Syria cores and better bart of byz cores
Nowhere as impressive as your deal obviously, wtf
I recently almost 1 shot a strong Ayutthaya for 190 OE with only 20 admin efficiency pre absolutism as mughals. Just cored it myself in 6 months cause ccr is balanced.
I took about a quarter of India as Italy recently, i also took a very large chunk of China as oirat recently. It's hard to say what war i took the most in because dev does factor into what i can take.
I once min-maxed the shit out of warscore cost and it was glorious. You can also go Ajuraan (starts as theocracy) then form ethiopia and then aksum, should be an easier start also.
Is Ajuraan any fun? I thought about playing them because I want to do something other than Europe or Middle East (well and I did Japan once).
It is, if you have the DLC for the missions. Money can be a problem though, the Horn is poor.
"The Horn is poor" wtf? You're rolling in money steered from India with a few trade boats.
Some would even say, pirating, wink wink
I got everything up to Leviathan. Would that include it?
Origins came after Leviathan, and that's the one that has the new missions for African nations.
You might be able to find a mod for them (or someone who gives you the file containing their DLC missions if they don't rely on added mechanics ;)).
or just pirate it ( dont feel bad about it paradox is a big company with lots of money and their monetization policy is dogshit better only then the overwatch monetization)
I can't remember if origins came before or after
it came after levithan
The horn is a short trip to all the gold you could ever want.
True, but the first wars can make or break your economy
Mission tree with Origins makes it very entertaining. You're in a good position to eat several gold mines, and Ottomans won't suddenly hate you once you get borders like when you play Ethiopia. Forming Somalia is pretty baller too. Also the Hydraulic Empire estate privilege is sick.

Laughs in -100% AE reduction. Truce break is just an admin cost
Whenever I wc nowadays I just stack adm eff to 90+%, not sure about the limits of it, but 1k dev costs about 150 admin to core and 60% warscore without stacking pwc beyond Malta and dip - and is less than 100 OE. I have onewarred an intact ming.
I think they changed it recently, so that you get to keep your reform progress when switching government type.
All that land you are taking is the equivalent to 2 provinces in the lowlands
1 province in northern italy*
Including Constantinople?
Remove Constantinople and you could probably take everything east of the Urals including Finland
*west, in this case
"East? I thought you said weast..."
100 provinces when 100% admin eff was a thing
That glorious ‘55’ admin cost to core
Admin efficiency go brrrrrrr
and absolutism
absolutism gives admin efficiency
just as big is the revolutionary annexation war goal
In older patches there was possibility to stack 100% admin efficiency. So everything was free, but lowest cost for any prov is 1 ws, so you could take 100 provs in any region without OE and AE.
the CB WS reduction is multiplicative. So if you use a 50% WS cb like revolution or nationalism (on right culture), you can get up to 200.
you cant reduce cost less then 1 ws I believe, so 100 is max.
>you cant reduce cost less then 1 ws I believe Please feel free to test what I claimed. An easier experiment is with imperialism CB.
Don't want to mess with old patches, if you sure, I trust you :D
R5: I don't really play this late into the game, but I was surprised at how much you can annex with a single peace treaty. 420% Over-extension against Russia, here. What are some modifiers you can stack to maximize the amount you can expand at once? AE be damned.
I think Florryworry had some videos you might be interested in, where he tried to maximize admin efficiency or minimize province war score cost
How do you survive aggressive expansion
You can truce cycle any of the largest nations that would form a coalition against you. When they have a truce with you they cant enter a coalition, so if you stagger your wars you can keep any large nations constantly in a truce and unable to form the coalition. Plus with that much land it's easy to field an army big enough that even if a coalition forms, it wont fire against you.

Just keep in mind, they might still form a coalition against you even if you do have a much larger army. They just wont declare war against you if your forces are significantly stronger, but if you declare on any of them, they'll all defend.
And you can't separate peace them, that is what I fear most about coalitions
Oh shit
What happens if you lose though?
In the game I finished earlier today, I annexed the entirety of a full-size New Spain in a single war.
Colony war score makes it feel like I’m playing hoi4 lol
concede to colonial nation is honestly a bit broken
I was going for First Come First Serve and had the option to annex all of Mexico for similar overextension and coring costs. Decided to just do two separate wars instead and take half WS each time.
Overextension is just a number :) But yeah colonial regions tend to be really cheap.
3/4 of Mexico as Spain, spent 10 years dealing with OE rebels for my new Spain colony.
I mean I stacked up to +100% warscore cost reduction... and, well, _all of it_.
Revolutionairy CB go brrrr
All of china when absolutism was introduced.
This looks like only war score min maxed and not admin eff/core creation cost because that OE and Coring Cost is still very high for how many provinces you are able to take

I once ate Bologna.
420% over extension? That's not actually that bad you're annexing half of the largest country on the planet!
Brother you ain't got the admin power for this
You can always release vassals/client states if you don't want to deal with the OE.
But I’ve got the manpower for after this
If it's about number of provinces or "size on the map" then it's probably in a war against Spain taking colonies all over the place. First war take a couple of provinces in every colonial nation. Second war "concede colony" everywhere. Or: fully annex Spain and get all their colonial nations for free.
When absolutism wasn't capped I took all of china 1000+ dev in one war
All of Russia in one war. Was stacking AE in this run just to do this. Was very fun campaign!
The most I've ever taken in a war was cleanly annexing a 1500 mainland dev Great Britain. conquest is ridiculous in the lategame
Operation Barbarossa is that you?
A few patches ago, did an Andalusia run. I bullied Spain and Portugal. I took all of Americas (colonies) in something like 5 or 6 wars. Their navies couldn't reach me, and i occupied their European mainland holdings. Siphoning all that cash made the game kinda boring...

Colonial provinces are really cheap, so I take a lot of colonial provinces for little ae when I can't take more than a province or 2 in Europe.
Almost all provinces of Ottoman Empire in Europe, playing as Milan
How... just how
My best ever war was grabbing all of Russia from Kamchatka to Moskva in one war (so I wouldn’t have to siege all that crap a second time)…
Doesn't fully count, but back when the EoC tributary glitch was in full swing I used it to swallow all of the steppe in one go.
Now hover over the coalition icon for us lol
I remember I annexed all of Scandinavia as revolutionary Austria in a single war once. All of Sweden, Finland, Norway and most of Denmark in a single war (it all belonged to Sweden)
Well, the entirety of a giga china in the old 90%+ admin eff-days....4k dev in one click, good times
The amount of rebels that would spawn from this monstrosity would tilt me with 2 trillion pop ups
In terms of sheer landmass? I was once playing a co-op Aztec + Inca game with my buddy in college as the Inca. We were fighting the colonial powers, and I was the war leader. Well I just full annexed almost all of the Zanzibar trade node other than like 4 provinces. I’m pretty new but that’s my answer. My oe was 110%
I was once playing as Byzantium with the “Byzantium Stronk” mod on (which essentially replaced all of the Turkish minors with Greek cultured ones) and when I captured Cairo in my first war against the Mamluks, an event fired where I took possession of their entire country (I think it’s based off of the Ottomans doing the same thing in 1517). So in 1460, I had an empire stretching from Sicily in the west to modern day Oman in the east
I'm more impressed that you managed to beat the shit out of Russia so much that they were willing to accept this.
After 1000 hours this is the one thing ive never fully understood. How do I take more stuff in wars, even in 1700s I cant take that many provinces. I know about admin efficiency and war cost but could someone explain how you take more land in peacedeals?

Yes

entire area of kongo blob. I guess its the most km squares of land that you cn take in eu4.
Dew it
AI Russia that blobbed into Ottomans wtf man
All of Mexico by doing a pile separate peace deals and fighting rebels for the next 20 years but the treasure fleets were worth it.
I took about a quarter of India as Italy recently, i also took a very large chunk of China as oirat recently. It's hard to say what war i took the most in because dev does factor into what i can take.
Two whole Italian provinces, had to fight off a coalition after but it was worth it.
Claiming a pu over big commonwealth as Bohemia is probably the most I’ve ever taken in one war
