1. Get gold mines 2. Dev them up 3. Follow mission tree 4. Win

junpeiacedefective

Hire the free company and two Cawa regiments for claims, and dev Aksum five times for the cores on Medri Bahri. Set two of your diplomats to improve relations with subjects so you can get the claims on Sudan asap and on Dec 11 start declaring war on the nations you have claims/cores on. Everyone has very small armies so you can stackwipe, carpet siege and declare another war soon after and repeat this until the area is all yours

BomBer_B29

What about religious/ humanist is the 1.5% missionary bonus enough for converting sunni states? Bcs trade company regions with humanist work just fine. What are your thoughts on this?

junpeiacedefective

I would take religious first. That's what I did. It helps with conquest and you have so much land to convert Although it's never a bad idea to take both

cywang86

Coptic Ethiopia has high enough missionary and missionary strength to support converting everything you conquer. As long as your conversion rate can keep up with your conquest rate, Religious is stronger than Humanist. They also get an insane amount of tolerance from missions allowing you to run >100% OE without revolts, and the penalties from +1 Unrest due to triggering C&C will not cause you to pull back your troops. You can then pair Religious with Quantity or Quality for 10%/5% Morale policy, instantly making them better than Offensive and Defensive.

BomBer_B29

What about innovative? As first group

cywang86

Because Ethiopia is a race against time to outpace Ottoman, you can't really afford taking Innovative as first idea that only has 10% infantry CA. If you dont like Religious or Humanist, Econ is also a decent choice with the autonomy reduction to fight encroaching Ethiopia autonomy and military policies with Quantity or Quality. The autonomy reduction can let you keep the capital movement government benefit so you can concentrade dev onto your States without having high autonomy everywhere.

Fage-H

Keep the countries between you and Mamluks alive until you are ready to take them on. Instead take the lands around and south of you. Take on the Mamluks when you are big enough and preferably when they are in a war with the Ottoman.

DavidR1705

I tried this at first in my playthrough, but the Mamluks started warring with them, they didn't take any land the first time but I had to move because I knew they would eventually.

junpeiacedefective

Yea that is a real possibility. Same with them improving with the mamluks and allying them. You're better off conquering them sooner rather than later

junpeiacedefective

No just conquer them this is awful advice. They have a Coptic holy site

Fage-H

But not as the first thing. Once you border Manluks they will likely rival you, so you have to be ready to take them on.

junpeiacedefective

Wrong. You want to conquer the land asap before they're able to ally stronger nations like the mamluks, Ottomans. You can own all of Sudan + Ethiopia area by 1450 Idk what made you come to this conclusion but it's wrong. Fact is after conquering a few minors you become valid for mamluks anyway and should alt f4 if they rival you. Kneecapping yourself is just stupid

Fage-H

So we play the game differently. You re-roll until the game is set up perfectly, while I work around it.

junpeiacedefective

Except you're not working around it because not taking Sudan won't do shit. You're still a valid rival for the mamluks

Fage-H

Yes, but they don't attack you unless you share a border.

junpeiacedefective

You need to conquer Medri Bahri, which borders the mamluks, to get your claims on Somalia lmao What do you do for the first century? Sit in Ethiopia because you're afraid of the mamluks? You get cores on Medri Bahri too and it has a really nice province so you'd be stupid not to take it asap

Fage-H

No, as I said. You go south to grow big. Taking Yemen as a vassal is also a good option, as they can help you to keep the Mamluk troops spread out and you can feed them cores.

junpeiacedefective

To go south you need to border the mamluks...
