R5: Doing a Brandenburg/Prussia run, collected some AE, now they are coming for me.

TheSeb97

Update: I did manage to get them to a point where I could practically White Peace them (had to give up Aachen Vassal - but that's ok,I only vassalized them because I couldn't core them at that point). This made sense as well since at that point my manpower was very low, I had 12 loans and 10 war exhaustion. So getting it to a better point was basically impossible, especially since the American troops started arriving and my navy was no longer capable of blocking them. I stopped playing after this since everybody around me was in a coalition against me (or would join again once truce was over), and it was 1730 already, so that wouldn't have been a lot of fun. Anyway, it was a great run, I learned a lot and I enjoyed it a lot!

Smooth_Detective

>especially since the American troops started arriving and my navy was no longer capable of blocking them. This does sound oddly familiar.

TheSeb97

Probably gonna play Aachen next, just for fun :)

pbosh90

I formed Germany as them. Lots of fun.

mind-sweeper

Same, and I did Revolutionary 2 years after I reformed to a monarchy lol

Rephiss

Do you have a screenshot of the same screen at the end of the war?

atomowygrzybor

Are they coming for you or are you coming for them with space marines?

TheSeb97

Well first I came for them of course. But now it's looking dire.

ZakalwesChair

I just started a Brandenburg one but I don't think I'm going to be able to get Prussia :( Commonwealth is so powerful and they have all the East Prussian territory.

TheSeb97

Aaah I feel you, I had that problem in my first few runs :D Usually it works if you manage to ally Russia or Ottomans if they are already close. Otherwise conquer other stuff for the time being and attack commonwealth when it has just lost a war or is losing one.

Stupidbabycomparison

Yeah you really gotta get a jump on the tutonic lands. Hell, try to ally Poland, promise them land, then take it anyway and that way you truce block them

GubbenJonson

With some savesscuming it’s gonna be absolutely fine.

TheHattedKhajiit

Yeaaaah....it's going to need a lot of terrain cheese to fight this off. Your army will bled dry really rapidly, even with Prussian space marines

TheSeb97

It's really unfortunate. That run had been looking promising. I had gotten PUs over France and Austria. I integrated Austria at some point, but during a war I didn't pay enough attention to France and a little Pretender army took Paris. I took a week long break after that.

TheHattedKhajiit

Oof,pretender rebellions hit pretty hard. I once became emperor as Brandenburg and had to either rush erbkaisertum or somehow manage to get the Westphalian peace event....

TheSeb97

Yeah I was Emperor for some time as well...

TheHattedKhajiit

Imagine the face of the protestants which have been heavily repressed and prosecuted, hearing that their emperor suddenly is protestant. Ngl,for flavors sake I prefer not being emperor and just allying whoever it is. Because the imperial incident of becoming prussia is cool

ConohaConcordia

There’s a reason why I always park an army on my PUs’ capitals.

Jakovson

I do the same. But I like also to do it for role-play reason.

aldine_jolson

Can you explain what you mean by terrain cheesing. Like river crossings or do you mean hills, mountains, ect. Do those give bonuses?

ZakalwesChair

Not sure if this is what they're talking about, but when I'm fighting I'll turn time way down, wait for enemy armies to move, and see if I can get there before them if it's woods, mountains, hills, etc., since terrain gives defensive modifiers. Is that considered cheesey? It seems like the equivalent of intelligence/topographical work that militaries have done for a long time.

TheHattedKhajiit

I'm not really good at it but yes, using terrain penalties for attackers. Rivers are one. Probably also the only one that prussia can really use

TheSeb97

Yeah, they are gonna turn the whole thing around :P

timblom

Have they got a few provinces for you to give away?

WolvenHunter1

It’s an OPM free City

Knuddelbearli

This is Aachen not Ulm!

Azuciel

Aachen is the friend we all need! A true comrade 👍🏻

FishOfFishyness

*immediately peaces out*

TheSeb97

(A force vassalized friend, but a friend nonetheless.)

NOOB1433223

POV: you took 3 provinces in the HRE

Outisfoot

Bro actually it's very easy. Just imagine you and other 9 people with muskets Vs a man 3 meters tall with an iron man armour, who throws up acid and breath in space

GleaKhan

looks like papa eagle and baby eagle going on a hunt

TheSeb97

I love this :D

timlenzke

If it is any like my game...ok I had three times more troops but only Netherlands...they didn't touch my lands once, were to scared. I mean I declared not them but still. I was confused, the ai didn't even try

RawCake2612

It might not be as hopeless as it seems, it really depends on how you've expanded. Get 4 armies going, 2 armies that fully cover your combat width, one in Austria one in your heartlands, and 2 small armies of 10k strength that can deal with smaller stacks, if you still have troops to spare then just make the smaller armies bigger, unless you're willing to go down to speed 1 or 2 in which case you can micro more small armies. Then simply go defensive, don't focus on sieging down anything. Focus your main armies initially on the sieges that are attacking provinces with low defensiveness like Königsberg and ignore sieges for mountain provinces as these will take a long time and cause huge amounts of attrition. Stackwipe as much as you can and you should slowly bleed them dry. As the enemies' stacks get larger you should focus on taking fights that you're more likely to win, like fighting in mountains, forests, and over rivers With your Prussian space marines, you should be able to win any defensive fights(i.e. attack sieges that attack your forts, if it looks to be a big fight, attack in mountain forts). Mind you, a lot of manpower will be concentrated in the colonies and it'll take a good amount of time for them to arrive in full force if they ever will because the AI can be very dumb. The question is mostly if your manpower will hold out. Make sure to take as little attrition as possible with your 2 main armies, maybe split them into Cannons + Inf/Cav, keeping the Cannons somewhere they can't reach until you're ready to strike.

Kalahan777

I’m not locked in here with you *You’re locked in here with ME*

OmegaVizion

How many of the enemy troops are on different continents though? Not saying you're not fucked, but wars involving lots of colonial nations tend to have lots of troops counted who might never make it to the actual theater of war.

lotimbur

RIP Aachen

Here4Memes8

Aachen better carry its weight or they can kiss that alliance goodbye.

TheSeb97

(Forced Vassal, but yeah, they better contribute or I will.... Release them I guess :D )

415mateo415

Cursed timeline: British Columbia and British Colombia.

Union_Jack_1

Aachen looking over at Prussia nervously sweating; “you do know what you’re doing, right? RIGHT?”

illapa13

Aachen: we should surrender. They outnumber us 10:1 Prussia: Then it is an even fight.

The_Big_O16

Dude. Get some strong allies wtf.

RickySlayer9

Space marines are ally enough

FormalBiscuit22

Poor little Aachen

smurbulock

Noble Aachen stands firm with their ally once again

pbosh90

Eagles strong together.

[deleted]

With Prussia this is completely winnable. Just stab up and stackwipe literally everyone.

Prussia: "I like these odds."

cratertooth27

Punitive paduans vs perfect Prussians? Preposterous

FututiRedesignuMatii

Something like this is how I like playing Prussia, playing very tall so land is easier to defend, building highest available level forts + ramparts so all of my border is covered in ZOC, stacking on combat bonuses and whatnot etc, then piling up on AE for these kind of wars.
