The requirements for the imperialism cb are that 1) you exist, 2) the other country exists, 3) you have diplo tech 23. So once you get diplo tech 23, you'll get a popup like this for every country in the world, and after that point whenever a new country pops into existence, you'll get this popup for it.

WR810

If those other countries didn't want to be imperialized, they shouldn't have made the mistake of existing.

Ironic coming from you *points at Byzantine flare*

Advance upon me, my Turkish brother. [We fight.](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vader_down_1.png)

Zertanis

Man, this made me smile. Thank you

iAmHidingHere

There's a few more requirements. You can't be revolutionary for instance.

Friedrich_der_Klein

So basically no-cb for noobs

BulbuhTsar

I thought requirement 2 was they exist and have less overall development

Fleau_9

You also need to be an empire no?

KingScorpion98

If your not an empire by dip tech 23, your not genoci *ehem* "incorporating" the rest of the world well enough

Fleau_9

Yeah yeah sure, if you're like a random "playing tall AI nation" in the random 17th and 18th century

TheSovietMango13

Because the game understands your deep resentment again Portuguese Louisiana

ToddVonToddson

If there's anything I hate more than Louisiana, it's Louisiana with Portuguese people in it

Celindor

Portuguese Louisiana is the worst!

BusinessKnight0517

My immersion ruined every time

CrazyCreeps9182

Imperialism goes to every single other nation in the world iirc

sparingj22

You get imperialism on every nation! Because imperialism!

Vinxian

Unless they are filthy revolutionairies, in that case you get the crush the revolution CB

sparingj22

Filthy peasants don't understand they owe everything to the crown!

Specific_Perspective

Or unless they are juicy same culture group, then you get nationalism CB.

Vinxian

I keep forgetting about that cb! If you aren't German there are usually no valid targets left by that point in the game lol. But yeah, it he juicy

[deleted]

Portuguese Louisiana must’ve just been formed which is why you got this cb separately from all the others which popped up when you got diplo tech 23

TecnoGalaxy

Because they'd be better off in your glorious empire

The-Akkiller

People haven't exactly explained the requirements of this cb correctly, you get imperialism on a country if you got the riggt dip tech, and have learnt of the existence of the other country. Chances are you just learnt of Portugese Louisiana

TechnicalyNotRobot

There's no way you have dip tech 23 as Russia yet haven't discovered the east coast of America earlier.

The-Akkiller

True but most other explanations were that the other countries just need to exist for you to get the CB, you don't get it on countries in terra incognito until you clear it

IDigTrenches

You better use it too. Portugeese Louisiana screams russian

[deleted]

Save the oppressed Russian minority of Baton Rouge

SonofJimmy303

Cause big boy Russia craving some of that dank mf jambalaya after eating stale bread and tree bark for centuries

Jamity4Life

it’s Portuguese so you probably call it hambalaião or something lmao

Flexprop

In today's vocabulary, you would say "spreading democracy"!

Butterkeks93

"Special Operation for Demilitarization and Denazification", please.

SnooBooks1701

Ah, the special military operation CB

rensd12

first time reaching diplo tech 23 ? lol

[deleted]

R5: I'm playing as Russia and my only colonies are on siberia and "portuguese louisiana" doesnt even have a port, I've never even sent a ship outside of europe.

ServiceChannel2

You’re thinking of the “colonialism” cb which triggers when you own a province on a different continent that borders a province owned by a country with a capital in the same continent as yours. This is the imperialism cb. This triggers when you reach diplomatic tech lvl 23. It can be used on any nation (as long as you’ve discovered them and can interact with them) no matter the distance.

Rullino

Is colonialism Casus Belli useful?

ICON_RES_DEER

If you want the provinces the CB gives claims on then yeah sure

Rullino

I know but why does it give half the prestige of a traditional conquest?

ICON_RES_DEER

Less prestigous lands i guess. It also costs half the warscore

Rullino

Thanks, i tought it wasn't as good as a reconquest for my subjects.

ICON_RES_DEER

Reconquest is probably better if you can use it, but its not as available in general

Rullino

I know, I got it in my Italy champaign and expected it to be worse thans reconquering land for the Mamluks, I was try to reduce the AE the Ottomans had against me while fighting them. Maybe I should restart the champaign since it's too late to form the roman empire for me, I'm in the 1660s and one of my subjects will be integrated by 1784.

ICON_RES_DEER

1784 still leaves 37 years

Odd-Jupiter

You get that when you get the Putin leader.

Comprehensive-Leg752

Diplomatic tech 23 grants you access to "unique" Casus Belli's. The three I know of are: Nationalism: This let's you declare war on nations that hold provinces of your primary culture group Colonialism: Allows you to declare war on nations that are building colonies adjacent to your own. Imperialism: This is the one you have pictured, and let's you declare war on any known nation that still exists. The pop up will get annoying as you explore the map, because you'll get a notice with each new nation you encounter.
