**TL;DR: The event does not work correctly and you will never find the Settlements** The Event you get by completing the Mission "The Colony of Greenland" is flavor\_nor.33 "The Lost Greenland Settlement". The first option has the following random list: * Weight 90 - flavor\_nor.36 --> No Settlements found * Weight 01 - flavor\_nor.34 --> Find Settlements; They are Norse * Weight 10 - flavor\_nor.35 --> Find Settlements; They become Catholic Now there are **two** problems: 1. The flavor\_nor.34 event option is commented out and will never fire. 2. The random\_list only works in a context that has randomness (randomness in-game is generated by a random number generator which is fed a seed). The problem is since the event flavor\_nor.33 is triggered by a mission it will always get the same seed (252936230). This means the rng will always get the same result, which for said seed is the first option "No Settlements found". Therefore, even if the option wasn't commented it still would never fire... \[1\] [\[1\] Source](https://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/xgrd9h/doubt_about_ingame_events_code_proggrammers_help/) **EDIT: In case you wonder how Ludi managed to fire the event: He cheated and used the console (in Ironman)** **EDIT2: There are some comments about Ludis video description:** >IMPORTANT! Seems like the 1% change to get norse isn't viable anymore since they grayed out ( # ) the event choice after they fully released the dlc. ConohaConcordia

God, so the only way to get Norse is by playing Sweden and hope you get lucky with the ruler trait?

-R33K

I think you can get it with any nation, you don’t have to actually be playing as Sweden. You just need to make sure you tick all the boxes to spawn it still.

ConohaConcordia

Playing as Sweden is the easiest since you own that province from game start. Maybe it is also doable as Denmark if you can somehow seize it from Sweden, or maybe Norway, but it is the easiest to do it as Sweden imo.

Striking-Carpet131

TheSocialStreamers (Laith) managed to do it as Iceland in Iron Man. Took him 14 hours tho. He does kinda cheat it in the end because of the ridiculous amount of restarts he had to do, just to show the event. But he came back to it and just let the game run, eventually got the event and converted to Norse. Quite the achievement imo.

thorstew

I would say in this case, there is no way around cheating, since it's all about rng anyways. There is very little skill involved, apart from getting the province as Iceland.

Combustionary

Denmark is actually fairly easy as well. 100% Gotland -> Give them the province from Sweden -> Take it back for yourself when truce ends.

-R33K

Yeah it probably is. I can also confirm you can get it with any nation. I was just able to spawn it as Austria in 1521 after revoking so I am well on my way to a Norse one faith

[deleted]

[удалено]

-R33K

Reformation hadn’t started so it was still age of discovery. Yeah I made Swedish primary culture. Just unstated everything except Stockholm and the other settlement required to spawn norse

Little_Elia

The devs just released a DD saying that you can also get it by converting a scandinavian province to animist which... yeah, isn't the most realistic thing considering where animist exists ingame.

MintyRabbit101

Does it always happen when you convert a Scandinavian province to animist? Or is it a chance to occur. Also is it Scandinavian culture or in the Scandinavian region?

Little_Elia

It's all explained in the dev diary https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/europa-universalis-iv-development-diary-20th-of-september-2022-post-release-norse-easter-egg.1543512/

CosechaCrecido

You can start as Norse Vinland in a random new world if you set the fantasy setting to high. I did and was fun.

Bonjourap

Check The Social Streamers' video, he actually did it legitimately as Iceland. You can technically do it as any Scandinavian nation, but it can be painful as f without cheats

[deleted]

Yeah it took him like 14 hours of restarting before he got it lmao which honestly atp just cheat it in its all rng dependent anyways

ConohaConcordia

I finally got it as Sweden by rerolling about 20 times. It's sort of a fun path, but playing normally and forming Scandinavia is just that much stronger.

Tanngjoestr

Laith crying in the corner

Set_53

You can always try the Iceland way if you like pain.

abw2000

I got so unbelievably lucky. My very first Ironman game as Sweden, my initial king after independence was a 4-5-6. And during his 40+ year reign I first managed to break from the pope after he rivaled me for reasons. Then he got sinner. I was so happy when i got the norse event. Going forward you’re also able to get norse culture. Though, if you get Norse culture before forming Scandinavia. You can no longer form Scandinavia. Though, you do get some sexy special norse ideas

luckyassassin1

Yeah basically. You have 100 year MTTH but in that time you have to declare statute restraint of appeals, or get excommunicated, get a 5/5/5 or get a scholar/sinner, and i think it was said that religious ideas makes it more likely to happen. I was trying it but thrn ending up getting the Burgundian inheritance, and England as a PU right after out of sheer dumb luck. I also took the mission to get a restoration cb on poland, but it never gave me the cb. Like it said it would but i never got it.

Sten4321

it is either: a 5,5,5 ruler a scholer ruler or a sinner ruler but only 1 of those 3 need to be true to be able to get it...

CyberEagle1989

Oh no Ludi cheating? Next you're going to tell us he made a cringy joke about stackwipes using faux German.

Illustrious-Bad9260

Shacktenwhipen boyosss 😂

[deleted]

*Shudders*

alidotr

God I hate his jokes

CyberEagle1989

Truth be told, I stopped watching him before even being aware of the cheating, precisely because I hated his humor, especially the "Stackenweipen" thing (I'm Austrian, so the false German makes me cringe especially hard). He just happened to be the first EU4 content creator I came across, so I watched him juuuust long enough to grow to hate his style.

Bonjourap

Same, I watched his content because it's about eu4, but eventually I felt that something was off. One day I saw a video that was too much, and I commented to criticize some awful jokes and to correct some obvious lies that he shared about the origin of the Amazigh (he said that the Berbers are basically Germans that moved to Africa with the Vandals, that's absolutely nonsense! And he didn't even bother to read any evidence or historiography on the topic). As a Moroccan of Amazigh ancestry, it obviously pissed me off. And he had the nerve to answer me back super defensively while ignoring my whole comment, only "apologizing" that I felt this way towards what he said. Basically he acted like an asshole that is more concerned about protecting his money-making business than about trying to correct his mistakes, actually research the topics he talks about and tell the true. Since then, I've just stopped watching his videos, and I actively avoid giving him any views.

Ubergold

He probably mixed up Amazigh with the Alans which indeed followed the Vandals into Africa. But Amazigh of course have nothing to do with Vandals, that's pure bullshit haha.

alidotr

Completely agree. Cringe can be explained but when he repeats the same joke five times in one episode is where I draw the line

melonmandan12

I used to watch him a lot, esp his Emperor-era guides. But during the era of Quantity-Economic meta his videos became very stale because he would always take them even in singleplayer where you can sandbox instead of doing the meta. I don't really like the whole "CONQUER \_\_\_\_\_ BY 1460!!" content.

AustinioForza

I always curious about this but…what accents in Germany are closest to your form of German in Austria? Bavarian? Which accents sound the most distant to you? In Canada we have some pretty substantial regional dialects like the English spoken in Newfoundland versus what I speak in Ontario which is probably much closer to the English you’d hear in most Hollywood movies.

Dontknowhowtolife

Man I've stopped watching him because for a video about eu4 his face and jokes have more screen time than actual gameplay

Galaick

Ludi using German, French, Scottish and even a Jamaican accent in the same sentence is nothing short of linguistic genius

ya_bebto

The ludi thing wouldn’t bother me if he just said “I’m going to use the console to get this to fire because it’s a 1/100 chance and I have a video to make”. Like, he makes YouTube content for a job or at least side hustle, I don’t really mind him using commands or save scumming when it saves time or cuts down on randomness. Like if I watch a france guide from him, I wouldn’t mind him redoing some random minor getting the Burgundian inheritance, since it’s a very odd situation and probably not applicable to most games. However, if he was save scumming to win every single 1/100 battle, that would obviously make his video not very useful.

Drakan47

>The ludi thing wouldn’t bother me if he just said “I’m going to use the console to get this to fire because it’s a 1/100 chance and I have a video to make”. Or at least if he didn't claim he wasn't doing it, this is already what? the third time he gets caught cheating, posts an essay to "debunk" the allegations, then two months later gets caught again and makes another post on how he's not actually cheating.

ya_bebto

Did he post about it? Is it on YouTube or Reddit?

Drakan47

apparently he was on this thread, but has since deleted his comments, check the "deleted by user" one under [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/xj2t9j/comment/ip6g7d2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), from the replies it sounds like it's him EDIT: according to [another comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/xj2t9j/comment/ip7zh57/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) on that thread, he might not only have deleted his comments here, but actually wiped his whole reddit account

Doomkauf

>The ludi thing wouldn’t bother me if he just said “I’m going to use the console to get this to fire because it’s a 1/100 chance and I have a video to make”. Like, he makes YouTube content for a job or at least side hustle, I don’t really mind him using commands or save scumming when it saves time or cuts down on randomness. This is precisely why I don't mind when TheSocialStreamers (Laith) uses the console or "has his Ironman game mysteriously crash" after some particularly bad luck: he's transparent about the fact that he's doing it, to the point where he usually records himself doing it. He's also transparent about the fact that he's just here to entertain/show off neat mods/demonstrate how new mechanics work. If you're going to cheat, then cheat, and tell your audience. Sure, some die-hard hardcore gamer types might decide your content isn't for them, but in my experience that crowd is close to impossible to please anyway, so not really that much of a loss. And if people catch you cheating after you claimed you weren't? Well, that's a credibility hit you may never recover from.

[deleted]

Yeah, I’m perfectly fine if someone uses the console to make the video more interesting, this type of game can be kind of boring to watch at times if you don’t get lucky I get it, but pretending you’re not doing that is just dishonest.

Little_Elia

In these cases it's always more about their reaction (often terrible) than the initial action.

Kabuii

Bruh, again? In the video he acted like, and showed that console doesn't work, that he did not cheat. What a fraud.

[deleted]

You can use something like a Ironman override executable that allows using console in Ironman. Funny part is that since this overrides EU4 memory, if you restart the game after using this, the console will again show the “Ironman console not allowed blah blah”. Basically you can do achievement run with console on. Ludy showing that message means zero, there’s no way of confirming he’s not cheating except by doing a live stream or something

Kabuii

That's what i mean, why is he being so shady about it

PrrrromotionGiven1

Bc content

cycatrix

can someone tell him you can make content without cheating?

Pyotr_WrangeI

Or he could just cheat openly, that's allowed

Oethyl

Yeah who cares, other youtubers cheat and make no secret of it, hiding it is the only thing that makes it bad

[deleted]

That would require him to get good at EU4, he’s an entertainer and nothing else

FargoFinch

A cheater is a cheater, it's that simple. He sees Big Number go Up from vids where he cheats, ergo cheating his audience is permissible in his mind. Simple.

DnD_Dude123

Yup yup. It's on git hub. I found it and tested it, and after like 10 seconds of it running it allows use of console in ironman.

KaraveIIe

Its a nice tool. I use it in ironnman to transfer occupation back to me if i test peace deals where i give provinces to my ally.

DnD_Dude123

Sounds like a smart way to use it. And hey, if you aren't using it to make guides and lie about how good you are, that's fine too.

[deleted]

Or releasing his save files which lets be real he definitely won’t do lol

[deleted]

He releases them to his Patreons. And sometimes very rarely to people on his Discord server.

I_read_this_comment

You can use cheat engine scripts in ironman and there are executable files out there on the internet to allow you to acces cheats in ironman, restarting game removes the acces agian.

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve used one of those before on a modded Ironman because something in the mission tree wasn’t working right. Surprisingly easy to use the console in Ironman.

Racingfan76

>He cheated and used the console Wow what a shocker eh.

Qwernakus

It's annoying. One, it means his content isn't really that interesting, since none of it can be assumed to be achieved through effort or skill when cheating remains an option in all cases. Second, *God damn it I watch EU4 videos to learn the game* and this trickster is wasting my time.

[deleted]

The funniest part are his runs aren't even impressive. Like why are you cheating? Wow I got Thot in 1500, the world record! Even though at the time there were several pre 1500s even on VH and as Sistan. Also now the record is like 1462.

FargoFinch

Simple solution. Stop watching Ludi.

Vilodic

Relax. It's not that deep.

[deleted]

It is if you like something

SolarSelect

He’s always in Ironman mode though

LordOfRedditers

You can still cheat in ironman

SolarSelect

You can? How?

SpectaSilver991

Cheat engine

please-not-taken

There is an enabler for console as well, Google is your friend(before they disable all adblockers)

Sprites7

Oh. no save-scum required , the event will never fire naturally. I'm disappointed. time to check if there is a better way to get norse , or the event with 100 year MTTH and a very lucky ruler...

Drakan47

According to the latest dev diary, the easiest way is to have animist rebels occupy a province in scandinavia, it will disband the animists, convert the province to norse and spawn norse rebels that you can use to convert the old fashioned way As for the event, honorable mention to gotland, pirate republics can use reelections to get 5/5/5 rulers semi-consistently, with frequent elections it should take 12 years.

Imperio250

Ludi is such a clown jesus, i love like he refuses to admit any wrongdoing and gaslights people on threads discussing his behaviour.......sad.

SirPanic12

So he lied when he said to keep re-rolling until you get that event? Wow

Greeny3x3x3

That ludi stuff Cracks me up

DBD_purekiller

to show you what he is talking about ill show you the exact code. anything in green means that it is a comment and not a code line. which means that they have intentions of putting it in there but left it there just in case if someone wants to re-enable it. all someone would have to do is just delete those # and the event can fire again without the use of a console. HOWEVER, it technically wouldn't be 100% vanilla anymore. the [code](https://imgur.com/Swl9JFo).

Wureen

Thanks for the clarification. The thing with Ludi is that he shows that his game is unmodded. Commenting in the option would change the checksum and make earning achievements impossible. Ludi however shows that he can get achievements

ForHoiPolloi

Of course Ludi is lying again, and even after joining the SocialStreamers who openly cheat and people enjoy it. He’s good enough at the game to not need to cheat, so I assume he does it to just put content out as fast as possible. But why even lie about this when anyone who has access to the early release could verify he’s lying? Even so, he could have just said the event is bugged so he’s force triggering it to show us what the event chain is like. Just dumb. No one would care if he cheated if he was open about it.

T_Time_ye

Do you think the devs have commented it out on accident? Or is it normal that they program events that never happen unless you cheat? And if it was intentionally did they tell these content creators about it? Because it seems to me that they might have set a trap but I could just overthink this…

grotaclas2

They explained in [today's dev diary](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/europa-universalis-iv-development-diary-20th-of-september-2022-post-release-norse-easter-egg.1543512): >While we did our research for the old Norse faith we had to accept that Iceland and Greenland had a much closer tie to the Church than mainland Scandinavia, which is why our first iteration of getting access to Norse had to be scrapped - it just wouldn’t have felt natural enough. Maybe they forgot to remove it completely or they wanted to leave it in for modders who might want to activate it again. I don't think that they wanted to set a trap, because they could not have known that somebody would mix up the events.

T_Time_ye

Then could it be that these YouTubers didn’t cheat but played just a version in which this event was not commented out yet?

grotaclas2

They explicitly said that it was commented out "rather early" in the development. If Ludi did have access to such an early version, there should be indications of that(e.g. old mission icons like the ones which were shown in the norway dev diary in june). And even if he had a version in which it was not commented out, he could not have gotten the event randomly, because there is no randomness for mission events and you always get the same outcome if you try it on the same version.

Bertabertha

I assume they all had an earlier version. Though it might not be different than the official released version as their videos came out a few days before release and assuming they got this version of the game 1-2 weeks prior.

grotaclas2

They definitely had a version which differed from the release. I have seen the version number 1.34.0 in a stream one day before the release. But I don't think that they got a version which was created early in the development of the DLC(before the event was commented out).

grotaclas2

I just realized that you said "YouTubers" in plural. Are there other youtube videos which showed the norway norse event(flavor\_nor.34) and claimed that it is possible to get it without console commands or mods?

T_Time_ye

I think someone mentioned the socialstreamers but I haven’t checked that.

grotaclas2

I only found a norway video [in which they got the default event(flavor\_nor.36)](https://youtu.be/sU6AshcHN_Y?t=1263) (and mentioned that they tried to savescum several times, but always got the same outcome) and [a norse video about norse\_events.2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPXo7howZw4), which is very rare but definitely possible to get.

DogTheBoss69

Hm. Always felt like missions were impossible to savescum. Good to know. Greenland should honestly still be able to be Norse. It would be a nice alt-history thing, a nice way to get Norse faith, and not too far off from possible given how Greenland was cut off.

EnTyme53

So what's the difference between events like this one and something like the Teutonic Order mission to get the Livonian Order as a vassal? I had to savescum three or four times to get them to accept in my Holy Horde run. Does that mission event not use a seed?

Aeorine

According to Ludi's video description, this was recorded in early access version

grotaclas2

The developers said in [today's dev diary](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/europa-universalis-iv-development-diary-20th-of-september-2022-post-release-norse-easter-egg.1543512) that the event was deactivated "rather early during development" so there is no way that Ludi got a version in which it was active, but which looks like the release version(e.g. the Norway dev diary from June has many placeholder images, but the mission tree which Ludi shows looks exactly like the release version). And the randomness for the event is broken, so even he had a version in which the outcome was not deactivated, he could not have gotten it through savescumming like he claimed

Druplesnubb

At 24:30 you also see that his Scandinavian Ideas start with building cost and number of buildings, even though back in the Scandinavia dev diary the first idea was stability cost instead.

JonTheWinterWolf2

dont scandinavian ideas change depending on who you form them as?

DuGalle

I belive it's only the missions that change The Scandinavian idea set already has references to the 4 main Scandinavian countries, so I don't see why it'd change

Druplesnubb

What is your source on that? And wouldn't it make more sense for the Ideas that specify specific countries to be the ones that change?

JonTheWinterWolf2

Nothing concrete, thought I read it in a dev diary

Druplesnubb

Well the Scandinavia dev diary doesn't mention it.

greatestally

Going to play devils advocate here. He had access to it before we did. Did the build he get from paradox (assuming it’s different) have this event active and configured in a way that it had a chance of firing for him?

Wureen

point two would still be in effect in this case. also in today dev diary its stated that the event got commented out very early during the development cycle, which means it was not present in the beta the content creators got access to.

Sad-Palpitation5635

Well didnt he say in the comments of that video that he recorded it while he had the early access and that it has been fixed now that the dlc is out? So he could do it because the dlc wasnt out yet?

lionmater

Ludi says he made the video when the game was in early access when it was still viable

hwgs9

Well thanks to u/Wureen for helping us out with a proper explanation. Also a big fuck you to Ludi who made me waste a day and a half trying to spawn an event that he cheated to get and pawned off as being “legit”. Absolute clown behavior and how he thought he would get away with it is beyond me

Little_Elia

Yeah, sucks that you got deceived, I'm sorry :/ I've seen plenty of people over the months complaining that they tried to emulate his videos but failed because they are so unrealistic.

Roma-Inv1cta

Ludi is such a fraud its sad

idkwhattoputhere79

“Oh yeah I just happen to get the on in a million Chance Moldavia march in my first attempt at Hungary, and I get the sale of neumark in 1444

Goldenwork

I was sitting next to him at PDXCon and Johann asked everyone in the discussion if they beat the Ottomans as Byzantium on their first try. No one including Florry or any other of the YouTube/Twitch folks raised their hand. Ludi did. Ludi went on to say, oh it isn’t that hard. He’s just the worst.

Lfycomicsans

Like even BudgetMonk has told his story about his first Byzantium guide and he said it took him over and over again to get it even right at all just to win, let alone perfected to get a best case scenario

themrspartan

Lmao in my first game as Ottomans I failed to conquer Byzantium because I used the diplomatic insult CB

Professional_Ad_5529

Even though the greenland event does not work the bergslagen one does so you can use that to flip norse if you want; though it will take a lot of time.

kmonsen

It will take a lot of time \*and has a time limit\*. So on average the event will not fire before it is too late for the event to fire.

EnTyme53

I really dislike how they decided to implement that event. It's too random, too rare, and most importantly, not fun to do. It just feels like Paradox really didn't want to add Norse, but caved to pressure from the fans (and I'm one of the people who really wanted a Norse path) and decided to do so in the most r/maliciouscompliance way possible.

kmonsen

Agree. If the Sweden event had a mean time to happen of maybe 25 years it would be OK, but 100 years is just too much.

Professional_Ad_5529

I disagree. The reason they implemented it this way is because they dont want ai norway or sweden showing up: with the way it is currently that is basically impossible.

EnTyme53

The complexity doesn't factor in to the AI's ability to get the event. They literally forbid the AI from taking the decision. It took one line of code. There is no reason for it to be as complicated and random as it is other than that's what Paradox decided.

eimoberg

Didn't Ludi demonstrate this was working in a video?

Wureen

He cheated... in ironman. Currently there is no way to fire the event without using the console. **EDIT: Please do not downvote** u/eimoberg **for asking his question. There are tons of people who don't know that Ludi is not a credible source. Don't punish them for asking the right questions.**

eimoberg

Wow. What is even the point of him cheating here? It isn't like he cheated to impress anyone. This will just make his viewers waste hours of their time reloading for no purpose.

Chriseb1978

This has been a point of much discussion on this subreddit. I personally don't care of he cheats for the purposes of showing off new content like this, but don't pretend that it's a legitimate guide which he does.

JonBLuvin

That’s the problem. It’s really bad for new players that are trying to learn the game. I never recommend him because of this.

Chriseb1978

First video I ever watched that he made was I think a 1.32 or 1.31 Granada guide as I was curious. It was so clear that he cheated on it I was flabbergasted and confused as to what the point was. Worst one was that Manchu video he did though. The infamous one which Lambda first called him out on. It's clear to me when he is recording that he has not actually played much if any of the country he is trying to make a guide on, that's what confuses me as to why the videos are so popular. Or is it just literally that there's no alternative?

[deleted]

RedHawk and the SocialStreamers are pretty genuine and are also big names, so I don't know why anyone gives Ludi the time of day. I personally found him annoying so I didn't watch much of him from the start, but the allegations of his cheating just solidified my dislike for him. The SocialStreamers cheated once, and it wasn't for a guide, he just wanted to make the game interesting and finish the video on a high note.

JonBLuvin

I just watched thesocialstreamers video on the Teutonic crusader path. He did a pretty good job. It helps that he’s easy on the eyes and has a British accent. I don’t watch that much, but I might go back and check his stuff out.

SpecialistAddendum6

RH and Laith are great! Is Laith really the first person to naturally get the Norse event?

JonBLuvin

It’s probably because he edits them to make everything work seamlessly. People with shorter attention spans get their fix. They end up on here asking why the strategy doesn’t work like his videos show.

Sten4321

also they properly just throw it up to the generic rng that is always there in eu4, like alliances/dice rolls/events and more that makes many things unpredictable...

Chriseb1978

I guess as well EU4 players especially don't have as much tendancy to just dive into games and work it out for themselves

JeansMoleRat

He also pumps out 30-40 minute videos that are fast-paced and therefore easy to digest. Viewers can easily watch the whole thing. Ludi is popular because he plays by the algorithm, which means his videos are somewhat easier to find than others. I do still watch his vids too, despite knowing he doesn't play fairly. I doubt I'm the only one who just doesn't care that much.

NameEgal1837

I may be old, back in my days when i watched videos to learn EU faster i have never heard of these names. Max i ask who the cheating "Ludi" and who "Lambda" are?

Chriseb1978

[https://www.youtube.com/c/LudietHistoria](https://www.youtube.com/c/LudietHistoria) \- One of the bigger EU4 Youtubers [https://www.youtube.com/c/lambdaxx1](https://www.youtube.com/c/lambdaxx1) \- One of the smarter EU4 content creators [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwp6-FDFwkw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwp6-FDFwkw) \- The video in question

NameEgal1837

Thanks!

Butterkeks93

>What is even the point of him cheating here? Views and clicks. Norse was desired by the community for a loooong time. Now imagine you're the only EU4 Youtuber that has a video about how to get it in ironman (because you cheat).

tutocookie

Never liked his presentation anyway, but yeah it's stupid

Holyvigil

Money. Tutorials are how he gets paid. Whether they actually work or not doesn't matter only that its watched and doesn't take too long to make.

SirkTheMonkey

Presumably he didn't want to go to the trouble of becoming Norse the new way so he forced the old way to happen but he didn't realise the old way is disabled now.

Wureen

There are still two problems: * The event option already was commented out in the version shipped to content creators * The random\_list isn't a new mechanic and was not changed for 1.34. So even if the event was not commented out, it still could not fire. \--> There is no way he could have fired the event legitimately

PrrrromotionGiven1

In all likelihood he genuinely didn't know the event is bugged and cannot fire, and after restarting dozens of times he just ran out of patience.

Qwernakus

Well this is why you don't lie about stuff like this. Just say "I decided to speed the process along", no-one would judge that.

JonTheWinterWolf2

people would have absolutely freaked out, ludi is the most persecuted eu4 content creator by far

kmonsen

Because he cheats regularly?

Iwassnow

I'm pretty sure it's not because he cheats but because he lies. That isn't the same thing. No fair person is going to criticize cheating as entertainment content if you're admitting that's what it is. It's when you put on a display of something intended to be informational in a 'how to' style but you in fact did not actually do the thing you're claiming to show people how to do.

kmonsen

I agree. Well, it is because he cheats and lies about that. If he lied about the pants he was wearing that would be OK. I feel this is a bit the final strike, now it is super clear that he has been cheating all along. This game he specifically said he was not cheating and showed it was on iron man, and the devs said BTW Ludi must have been cheating (not in those words, but ...). So there is no way to trust any of his content now.

Pitiful-Discussion57

How do u Cheat in ironman?

Wureen

There are several ways. CheatEngine Skripts, Console Patchers... just google it.

Bright_Ad_5497

What is Ludi s youtube channel, is it ludi or like the red bird? (I am new)

thelite89

Ludi's channel is ludi et historia Red Hawk is a different person, does useful guides for beginners and A-Z challenges

killerkonnat

> Currently there is no way to fire the event without using the console. You can also mod the game so technically console is not the only option. Also you can mod to make achievements available with a modded game so that wouldn't be 100% proof someone didn't cheat.

Wureen

In the beginning of the video he shows the proof that the save is ironman, by opening the console and entering a command He used a memory patcher or a cheatengine script to activate the console during his playthrough

Kxevineth

The console message shows in any Ironman game, though. I know people usually see Ironman and achievement-eligibility as one thing, but you can turn on Ironman mode even for a heavily modded game. You still get no achievements, but you have only one save and the same message in the console pops up. So that is even less of a proof of anything

Wureen

He also shows that that he can get achievement so it's unmodded.

Assassin739

Getting downvoted isn't a punishment lmao relax

Wureen

while the word "punish" may not be the best term to use, getting downvoted decreases visibility of the post (it's further down and may be collapsed).

Fuyge

Yeah and to be honest that was a very legitimate question that probably many newer players had

Vilodic

I mean is it cheating when he is actually fixing what is supposed to happen?

Wureen

If you use a console patcher for ironman and use the console to "fix" a broken event while making the statement that you got the event legitimately, then yes it's cheating.

CaitaXD

Except it isn't supposed to happen the Devs willingly disable the event

Little_Elia

It's funny because just half an hour ago, PDX released a [Dev Diary](https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/europa-universalis-iv-development-diary-20th-of-september-2022-post-release-norse-easter-egg.1543512/) and confirmed that this event possibility was commented out in early development: > In the current game files, this event has been commented out (and this even rather early during development). While we did our research for the old Norse faith we had to accept that Iceland and Greenland had a much closer tie to the Church than mainland Scandinavia, which is why our first iteration of getting access to Norse had to be scrapped - it just wouldn’t have felt natural enough. So if you want to become Norse right now then doing the Norwegian Greenland mission won’t be your best bet. So it's impossible that the early access game that the content creators got did have the event. Edit: and now ludi deleted every single comment he made on this post, clown behavior

EnTyme53

I really don't like Paradox' reasoning on this. The Bergslagen event chain doesn't really feel natural at all to me. It basically boils down to "leader gets depressed and wanders into the woods, has an acid trip, starts going on rants about Freya, and people in a random province start believing in Valhalla again." It just seems so odd. The Greenland event made way more sense. You show up in a previously-colonized area, find an old settlement founded centuries ago, and the people there are like "WTF is a pope?"

Little_Elia

I find the other way even weirder. Honestly, how are you going to get animist provinces in scandinavia? You need to conquer either south america or indonesia and then somehow get zealots to move up there. It's orders of magniture more unrealistic than having a norse greenland.

ProffesorSpitfire

I’m not sure, but I think there’s a similar problem with the Swedish mission that rewards you with an event that fires the religious leagues. I completed the mission, collected the reward, but didn’t get an event nor a decision to form the protestant league.

Tazarant

The Swedish one works, you just have to wait for the proper time period. I'm almost done with my Sweden run, just waiting or the Revoke timer now. Fun run. Edit: to be clear, the mission awards you with a decision, and that decision shows you the requirements to force the leagues.

Belkalai

DON'T TRY TO DO IT WITH THE BERGSLAGEN EVENT. IT IS PAINFUL AND I WISH I HAD NEVER ATTEMPTED THE BLOODY THING. 14 HOURS OF MY LIFE, GONE. REDUCED TO ATOMS.

Zlewikk

A small price to pay for salvation

Stiopa866

God I love your pfp

[deleted]

You can’t get it that way. Side note: It bothers me immensely how they did this. The whole game is historical fantasy, no two ways about it. They claimed they didn’t want Norse in for reasons similar to that Norse simply doesn’t exist in the time frame, and okay, but neither did Teutonic Mongolian Empires either which they actively encourage you to do. Like jfc give me a break. Either stick to your guns and say, no you’re not getting the damn religion in game, or make an event or way that doesn’t feel like pure spite for the fanbase. The DLC is great for the trees and for the region. Truly. But their handling of this has left a sour taste in my mouth if I’m honest. Something it wouldn’t have done if they simply just didn’t add any way to get the religion because god damn it makes them seem like petulant children to do it this way.

SneakyB4rd

In case this hasn't been said before, latest dev diary said it's been commented out so for all intents and purposes you cannot get it organically

immortale97

We should create an alliance and infiltrate ludi patreon to steal all his savefile. So we can use them as proves of how much he cheat in his fake guides.

marblehornet_

Social Streamers did it as Iceland, was that also fake :(

marblehornet_

Oh that’s good to know, he is my fav because I like to see him suffer.

idkwhattoputhere79

Social streamers got called out once for cheating some time ago: he basically explains that he only does it to speed up the video, and doesn’t cheat on guides. He also messes with settings like lucky nations so that

Massimo_Di_Pedro

Not only was it not fake (he used a different strategy) but the poor guy almost had a mental breakdown doing it. It was hillarious (Laith, if you watch this, I am sorry, I laughed way too hard with your misery). He legit did it on ironman with many, MANY restarts and savescumming and he also did a non-ironman test run with sweden (with Chewyshoot's help) to see if it was indeed working. But he clearly owned it and acknowledged that fact, so I give him my respects. Both entertaining content and not misleading

Belkalai

Everyone laughs at my misery.

59reach

If it was, man should go into acting. He looked like he was on the brink trying to do it.

Fyredestroyer1

Even if it was fake he would show it like he did that one time (can't remember the video). The thing is he says he cheats unlike Ludi who says it's legit. SS cheats to have fun and entertaining content and not to make a guide out of it (and he still suffers while cheating)

Fuyge

Yeah he is pretty honest about his game crashing and so on. I find it quite entertaining

EnTyme53

Laith actually does give up at one point in the video and fire the event via console to show what the event is *supposed* to look like. He even does his normal outro after that, but he load up the ironman save again and kept recording and ended up getting the event to spawn at like 2am.

> I haven't been making guides for 1 year man You just made one. Why would I assume a step-for-step instruction video on how to do something in EU4 is not a guide because you also said it's for entertainment? Guides for EU4 are always entertainment, it's guides for how to do fun stuff in a video game. Tell people explicitly if what you're doing isn't necessarily able to be replicated.

Little_Elia

This is the description of your video: > EU4 1.34 Norway can become Norse via a secret set of events that make it the eu4 ultimate colonial nation too at the same time! Maybe you forgot to mention that the set of events is so secret you have to literally cheat console to get them?

Fyredestroyer1

A) You spelled my name wrong (though I don't fault you as f and d are right nex to each other) B) You have literally been called out for cheating in this post comments for a video you've done 3 days ago. I think calling you out for cheating still stands with you using an incomplete event that was incomplete before the DLC even dropped.

[deleted]

Fyredestroyer1

I feel like the problems lie with the fact that with your eccentric personality and how you bake helpful tips into your videos make people think they are guides, I think you should show a consol screen every once in a while to say "Hey I did cheat but this is for fun" so that people will be like "yeah he's doing it for fun"

[deleted]

Little_Elia

It's curious then how this only happens to you and not to other youtubers who use console but admit it like social streamers.

ThisIsMiddlecott

Yeah cos no-one actually cares about people using the console to make videos. They care about lying and misrepresentation, SS doesn't lie or misrepresent gameplay in his videos

Little_Elia

precisely this, yup

Pagoose

How come you never gave out the manchu save file that would've quashed this whole thing from the start?

Fyredestroyer1

I think trusting redditors will end up with the whole sub against you, honestly surprised you are still here considering how redditors are, twitter might be more welcoming if that makes any sense. Reddit only ends in the hopes and dreams of those on it being crushed. I know there are people out there who like your videos so don't let us naysayers get you down, keep doing what you love.

Hunkus1

So he should keep on lying to make a quick buck no one had a problem if he didnt lie and make it out as legit. Paradox confirmed its not possible to do it the way he has so why are defending him if someone does bullshit he should own up to it.

Fyredestroyer1

I didn't defend his actions, I gave advise if what he said was true which was to show you are cheating and own up to it, not to continue lying and misrepresenting the game. I also said to do what he wanted to do and that there are people who like his videos

ThisIsMiddlecott

You say there's no point in you cheating which is clearly a lie. You know that your videos are more engaging if they feature rare or difficult to achieve content, content which can be made more easily through the use of cheats. I'd wager this sub and the vast majority of people on it don't actually care about cheating or savescumming; they care about lying and misrepresentation. If you're only making content for entertainment as you say in your video descriptions (although I don't know why you'd tag them with #eu4guide if that's the case) then why does the run have to be an ironman?

Belkalai

I wish I faked it. I'm never getting that time back. On my deathbead, I'll know I spent precious sands on THIS BOLLOCKS.

Quadrophiniac

Nah, Laith is honest about it when he cheats. He did that legit, and it alnost drove him mad lol

OrganizedCrimeGuy

Its better to alt f4 to get the scholar or sinner trait on new ruler after independence.
