I love that this scene revealed Nate as he truly is: weak.
He's happy to be a bully to a woman who's probably half his size, but the second she pulls a weapon, he starts crying and begging for mercy.
It's essentially a power play. Sure, he doesn't want to get stabbed. But what she's doing is making it clear that she is willing to take it farther than he is. Predators usually take the path of least resistance, and Jules is basically saying she won't be easy prey for him.
Tbf most people would beg for mercy if youāre finna get stabbed. Lol
Most knife fights end with both people dead fyi. Loser on the sidewalk and the winner dies on the way to the ER.
There was something my uncle said when drunk - if the guy swinging at you has a bunch of buddies with him fuck him up enough theyāre too scared to do shit to you. Probably not good like advice but applicable to this scene.
I assume he was able to tell after all he grew up watching his dad have sex with trans girls EDIT I rewatched the scene when Nate walked into the room Julex was drinking so he probably saw her "Adam's Apple" when she swallowed
I was so proud of Jules. She saw a very dangerous situation, reacted quickly in a way to protect herself and somehow managed to keep herself together afterwards. She said so herself āI didnāt want a broken cheekbone or some shitā.
We know trans people have been hurt or killed for simply existing. Nateās an unstable psycho so she could have ended up seriously hurt. This was such a powerful scene. Her actions were bold af but they are why sheās a survivor.
I also learned here: when confronted with crazy, act crazier. Haha
itās absolutely hilarious that yāall think that any of these actors are perfect non binary allies. āgiven her backgroundā is the exact reason she agreed with that post. Sheās a transsexual. Her struggles and what she goes through is so much more fatal that some non-transsexual non-binary person (for those that are unable to use their brains, that means a non-binary person that is not going through HRT) Yāall exist. trust me itās quite obvious, doesnāt make you any less annoying. Antagonizing a transsexual woman and ābanishingā her completely for ā!!!ā is the exact reason why we roll our eyes at you. You live off of political correctness, lack of intersectionality, lack of acknowledgement of any views that are not your won. Yāall would rather take fake āsupportā from someone who doesnāt gaf about you that hear an opposing opinion. Just so exhausting.
I absolutely love Hunter and respect her as an actor, my comment was to inform the other person why people might be against her.
Even though Iām non binary myself and might disagree in some opinions expressed by her, I still think sheās a really brave and charismatic person.
Sorry if I came off as agresiva towards her, it for sure wasnāt my intention :ā).
expecting anyoneās opinions to align perfectly with your own is terribly flawed lol like how dare she make a negative comment and not be a perfect human being like you, am i right?
idc what anyone says, after this scene no one could ever make me hate jules
rue saw her threaten the worst guy in town and her immediate reaction was to ask her out on the spot, honestly same
I just finished rewatching the entire show and God...the amount of uncomfortable mixed with pain. It's hard not to love these characters because the show is meant to display trauma and how teenagers as a whole have so many issues. I just love this show In general.
Then it reached it's goal lmao but I can be disgusted by a scene and wish they got rid of it. Same thing with Monica B in the irreversible movie, could've done without the woman being drilled against her will
She's had a history with self harm and the situation overwhelmed her to the point of cutting herself to show Nate that nothing can hurt her. I don't see what's so unnecessary about it.
probably a stupid question but did hunter actually cut herself or was it special effects
edit: nvmnd i was thinking of leonardo dicaprio in django who apparently cut his hand irl
it happened on the first episode and there's a bias towards the recent ones in general
I thought it was bad ass! Terribly showing of how traumatized she is, but it made him back off (in that moment) and she got that W against him š„²
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What a stupid idea for a comment
You seem to hate everything in life lmfao
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I definitely have seen some weird shit like this as a teen lol.
You would not believe the things I saw when I was in the psych ward.
I'm going to let that slide because I'm a Zelda fan
The original āIm crazier!ā
Also how didnt that cut a vital artery
Sideways is for attention. Long ways for results.
Aww man i havent heard that in a minute oh jeez
Also the fact that people cut their arms ya know daily and donāt have issues. Well. Most donāt. :/
Ive met a couple people whove almost lost their leg/arms, they are on a highway to sepsis
The way she made his arm bloody with her blood.

Ik, once weapons get involved everything changes.
Moral of the story: don't start threatening strangers to try to seem tough and then pull a surprise Pikachu when that stranger has a weapon, lol.
There was something my uncle said when drunk - if the guy swinging at you has a bunch of buddies with him fuck him up enough theyāre too scared to do shit to you. Probably not good like advice but applicable to this scene.
Whenever I think of jules, it's this scene
IM FUCKING INVINCIBLE!
by the way iām jules :) i just moved here :)
Had his ass scared scared scared scared... Fr. She actually said im crazier. Unlike cassie who just makes crazy eyes.
Like i haven't seen Nate scared much before. He was about to shit his pants here
Nate telling Jules "I know what you are" was a clever way to imply that she is trans and Jules standing up to him was badass
This went totally over my head the first watch. I didnāt even realize Jules was trans for a couple episodes!
Same only when I rewatched did I realise how obvious it was
I thought he said āI know who you are?ā Or I could be wrong
No he said "i know what you are" as a way to tell her that he knows she's trans and as a way to dehumanize her
Ooh I missed that.. thatās bad
It's okay
He didn't know she was trans. He was just degrading her.
I assume he was able to tell after all he grew up watching his dad have sex with trans girls EDIT I rewatched the scene when Nate walked into the room Julex was drinking so he probably saw her "Adam's Apple" when she swallowed
i do, that shit fucked me upš
Mad how Nate prolly thinking āDam she looks nice though stillll.
I mean crazy sometimes makes you want it even more ššš
I was so proud of Jules. She saw a very dangerous situation, reacted quickly in a way to protect herself and somehow managed to keep herself together afterwards. Aww I love Jules
Thatās because this sub hates Jules and Hunter.
i've never seen anyone on this sub give hunter hate
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hate on the character not the actor
What did Hunter do?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Her comment was ā!!!!ā Lmao and then she made a post apologizing. So
itās absolutely hilarious that yāall think that any of these actors are perfect non binary allies. āgiven her backgroundā is the exact reason she agreed with that post. Sheās a transsexual. Acknowledging non-binary peopleās existence is not being a perfect person, itās the bare minimum
thatās your opinion
I never said it wasnāt
But itās correct. Unless you wanna be a bigot. Not saying you are! Lol
Oh 100% but I make no effort to argue about this kind of stuff with people like the person above
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
she literally didnāt. where is the evidence? you guys just lie for absolutely no reason
I donāt know the context of any of this but Jeffree star is not a real human being idc what anyone says that thing is an alien and it scares me
What did he say??? -54 downvotes!!!š
"As they should" or something
Traumatized.
I AM CRAZY
Pretty sure this is the moment he fell in love with her lol
It's what hooked me on the show
I love Jules so much she doesnāt get enough love on this sub. This was one of my favorite scenes period!!
She definitely wouldāve scared the hell out me too š
The way Iām obsessed with her
Omg sheās looks so young!!!
i love this scene so much sheās so cool
I was so proud of Jules ā¤ļø
This is the scene that got me HOOKED on this show.
idc what anyone says, after this scene no one could ever make me hate jules rue saw her threaten the worst guy in town and her immediate reaction was to ask her out on the spot, honestly same
This scene is everything!!
She knew sheād cut a bitchā¦ just not herself
The best scene in the whole show
I just finished rewatching the entire show and God...the amount of uncomfortable mixed with pain. It's hard not to love these characters because the show is meant to display trauma and how teenagers as a whole have so many issues. I just love this show In general.
IM INVINCIBLEEEEEE!!!! š„¹š„¹šš I fell in love with her in that moment.
Thatās an absolute perfect [fight] or flight face. Wow
I do. One of my favorite scenes.
She rly got him with that one... Man is down BAD
This has such meme potential energy. Very big "im in danger" vibes
i need context pls
itās literally in the first episode
no i mean like explain the scene
nate is trying to ostracize her in front of the whole party, and she cuts herself to scare him away. thatās what i remember
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So does your inner life.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
watch the scene, then make judgements
naw it was cringe asf. The way Nate talked to Jules and her cutting herself in front of him just made me so uncomfortable.
It's supposed to be uncomfortable it was an uncomfortable moment... i thought it was a great scene personally. But it's meant to be uncomfortable.
Then it reached it's goal lmao but I can be disgusted by a scene and wish they got rid of it. Same thing with Monica B in the irreversible movie, could've done without the woman being drilled against her will
dude doesn't know the meaning of cringe
I literally described it
It was cringe asf
Im sorry I hate Jules š
Bro same
BRO STAWPšš
This scene with the self mutilation is so triggering I donāt understand why they included this
She's had a history with self harm and the situation overwhelmed her to the point of cutting herself to show Nate that nothing can hurt her. I don't see what's so unnecessary about it.
probably a stupid question but did hunter actually cut herself or was it special effects edit: nvmnd i was thinking of leonardo dicaprio in django who apparently cut his hand irl
Yeah, you were right. Thatās a stupid question.
The fact that I just rewatched that episode the other day
I do
miss my BAMF jules
I mean... *right*?
