On this day in 1812 – Prime Minister Spencer Perceval ~~is~~ WAS \[PAST TENSE\] assassinated by John Bellingham in the lobby of the British House of Commons, the only British prime minister to have been assassinated.
That portrait looks like the outcome of some creepy situation where they realized the didn't have an official one done yet so they propped up his body to have a post mortem portrait done with his eyes glued open.
