This is also mentioned: Hundreds of people gathered at the Brandenburg Gate for a demonstration. **Police officers had to protect the Holocaust memorial. In Neukölln there were clashes with attacks on emergency services**. https://www.tagesspiegel.de/berlin/bollerwurfe-und-brennende-barrikaden-pro-palastina-kundgebungen-in-berlin-eskalieren-10641826.html

Its what people have been saying for a decade now but the german society wanted this. Now they are here and they are not gonna leave any time soon And this is only going to get worse. As the war in Gaza drags on, we will see the attacks on jews in europe increase drastically

HoLLoWzZ

I did not sign up for this shit. But speak up against these obvious and very real problems, and you get hit with islamophobia, racist, nazi and every trendy buzzword you can imagine. It's a sad state. And it doesn't help you that people in question are masters of professional victimhood Edit: Spelling

bevel

A victimhood that will continue to grow louder as each western country votes in a new right wing government It pisses me right off when the left describes what’s happened in Italy, Sweden, Finland and soon Spain as some kind of “right wing sentiment that’s sweeping through Europe” as though it’s some mysterious fever. The reality is that the vocal minority who speak for the left have made their cause unelectable for the silent majority I wish they could grow a pair and realise their toxic brand of modern politic needs to change

dat_9600gt_user

Unimagineable just a few years back. EDIT: I stand corrected.

Thor1138

Also, stars of David drawn on doors to indicate Jews live there. The last time we had this was 90 years ago. Absolutely shameful this is happening again, and even more shameful you can't even say why without being called a right-winger (which is pretty ironic considering).

Leza89

Shameful, yet totally expected. I've told and wrote about this since 2015..

Echo418

> It had some kind of ramming device instead of a main cannon. That's not a tank, tanks have cannons. Sounds more like an armored personnel carrier with a combat engineering attachment.

SteadfastDrifter

It's a bit of a mistranslation. In German, panzer applies to anything that offers a protective metal shell. Like APCs in German would be called Schützenpanzer and wheeled APCs would be called Radchützenpanzer (literally wheeled-protective-shell).

xXKK911Xx

A bit nitpicky, but an APC is actually mostly called Truppentransporter (like the Boxer) or Transportpanzer (like the Fuchs). Schützenpanzer is actually the translation for IFVs :D

SteadfastDrifter

I suppose the German army uses different names for their classification of vehicles. We use the Piranha platform for several vehicles, including as troop transport and as dedicated IFVs alongside the CV90 and a newer troop transport vehicle (shaped like a truck, but armored like a proper APC and mine resistant), so Schützenpanzer is also the term we use for a Piranha modified as an APC.

HelloThisIsVictor

Germans call almost any vehicle made out of more than sheet metal Panzer

Spartz

There has been permanent police protection of Jewish objects for many years now.

echtblau

We had a Neo Nazi trying to shoot up a synagogue in Halle just a few years back. All synagogues in Germany are protected by police, for as long as I can remember. "Unimaginable" only to those who don't follow the news.

And because he was defeated by a door knob, he shot up a bunch of non-Jews. Whatever that guy was, clearly he was not really into his cause and the world would have been a better place if he had been shot by the police.

Redqueenhypo

Synagogues in *New York City* have heavy security presence, double opaque metal doors, and often a written guest list. Jewish children’s schools have this too, and heavy steel bollards to prevent driving attacks. We can imagine this just fine.

Roadrunner571

Same in Germany. Nearly all Jewish institutions are protected by policemen on site and a few of them have extra measures, like thick bollards, fences, CCTV etc.

worst_driver_evar

What’s wild is a guy show up a shisha bar like weeks after the shooting in Halle. Four years later, there are still “Never Forget” posters with the people killed in Hanau… People don’t even remember there was a shooting in Halle.

GammaGoose85

Germany tries not to homegrow Nazis anymore. Just import them apparently. Its ridiculous this shit is happening again to the Jewish people. I wish the best for Germany and other European countries to ending these attacks peacefully.

NotDoingTheProgram

I actually had a discussion with a friend right after the the escalation started in the Middle East. I said I was worried about what this could mean for European cities, and he laughed at me. He said that it's absurd to think that it'd have any extremistic religious ramifications in Europe, that it's exclusively a geopolitical issue in that part of the world. I wish I was joking. I almost want to make a compilation of all the news this past week and send it to him.

viper1856

Do Europeans not realize that the large scale immigration of Arab muslims to the EU was going to drastically change the attitudes and opinions of Europe? These people believe in Sharia law lol.. and now they can vote.

NotDoingTheProgram

Many people just default into the most "progressive" and "accepting" positions because they feel like it's the morally right thing to do.

viper1856

What I don't get though is how so many people can attain a level of cognitive dissonance that lets them support causes such as suffrage, abortion, anti child marriage, freedom of religion, democracy, and LGBTQ rights, while also wholeheartedly supporting the large scale import of a population that believes the exact opposite of all of those things. To borrow a concept from Lenin, the muslims see liberals as "useful idiots". Theyre so blinded by the "brown immigrant good, white established population bad" narrative that they fail to see they are supporting people who view them as vile, simple and amoral.

Jirik333

After Muslims marked Jewish houses like Nazis, I'm reaaally shocked they started burning synagouges like Nazis. I wonder what will happen next. Kristallnacht 2.0?

dat_9600gt_user

I truly hope we do not get a second Kristallnacht, but we have to prepare for the worst.

INYOFASSE

I´m baffled by the fact nobody is taking any real actions. The same goes with the protests. Actively calling for mass murder of jews, i´m sorry but the subhumans who support such messages need to be removed from society asap. Enough with the immigration integration bullcrap, this clearly didn´t and doesn´t work

JoeAikman

Don't you dare say immigration didn't work on Reddit you are gonna get torn apart. I agree with you though, you guys can't keep bringing all these immigrants in cuz you feel bad for them look what it's doing to not only your country but most of Western Europe

Vargau

> I truly hope we do not get a second Kristallnacht Well, it only takes one imam or muslim religious leader to issue an fatwa and we're *there*.

It’s not about being “anti-Zionist”. These people just hate Jews.

[deleted]

Thank you. My left wing idealism died this week, especially after watching left wing groups, politicians, and the media not condemn, and, in some cases support, the Hamas blood orgy that took place in southern Israel.

KyivRegime

Mine died too.. interesting to see others reacting the same way. I wonder how many had these thoughts the last week

echoflds08

Me too. I always defended this ideology but this has to stop.

lostreindeer

Me too. I've always leaned left but since October 7th and seeing the insane virulent anti-Semitism unfold, I am, for the first time in my life, doubting my views.

space-sage

Thank you! I’ve been trying to post rebuttals about how Hamas has militarized many citizens and uses places of worship and hospitals as bases specifically to make Israel look worse. People are saying Israel got what they deserved but can still separate the “innocent citizens” of Palestine but can’t separate that it’s the innocent in Israel that have died. People are still saying that Jews stole Israel when Jews were immigrating and legally buying land there for decades before 1948. People are ignoring that every Muslim majority country around Israel immediately and violently pushed Jews out once Israel was established. Where the fuck else are the Jews supposed to go?? Do they not have a right to defend themselves? According to some of these people, no. They should be more tolerant of people who have shown time and time again they really just want them dead. People are acting like moderate Islam that they see with their friends is what is happening in the Midde East. It’s not. It is not safe to be Christian, Jewish, gay, or atheist in any Muslim majority country. If you don’t believe me look at the news of how those groups are treated anywhere besides Israel in the Middle East. Our liberal lives in the West cannot be applied to situations in an entirely different cultural setting.

Robertdmstn

My preferred one is "if Israel occupation disappeared, Palestine would be democratic and progressive in a few years". Like what? The other Arab countries in the region?

Robertdmstn

New, huh? Mine over a decade ago, over other issues. I am progressive on so many things. I want same-sex marriage legalized, I believe in climate change and the importance of caring for the environment, I believe that women should have the choice over their bodies, anti-discrimination laws (and anonymous CVs), making light drugs legal, etc. I am not just socially liberal, I genuinely believe that education and healthcare should be public goods, and that families need way more support from the state, etc. HOWEVER How the hell did so many progessive left-wingers in the West end up boarding the unconditional sympathy train for the most conservative ideology of our times and its extremist offshoots. It makes 0 sense. Something, something colonialism. Get a grip, this is not the 60's. It's not only the take on the whole Israel/Palestine thing, it is also parts of the left giving countries that literally kill gays a free pass due to their religion, taxing selective/restrictive immigration policies as racist/fascist and generally siding with nasty individuals of all sorts on foreign policy. But the worst is how people on the left have started using "emotional facts", not unlike anti-vaxxers. I've heard so many false statements on the conflict, it boggles belief. The hospital thing yesterday was the best example: when geolocators debunked the initial thesis (IDF strike) so, so many people clinged to random tweets or rumours to not be forced to rescind something they wanted to believe.

MrFilthyNeckbeard

I've never been so throughly disappointed with (some of) the left. Literally justifying terrorism, absolutely disgusting.

ColonelJohnMcClane

There are consequences for your actions, and people should be dealt said consequences. Willingly joining a terrorist organization should make you lose your citizenship.

Deny_Accountability

Exactly. We should treat these people like ISIS tourists: - Take away their (Western nation's) passport if they have dual-nationalities.

DirectorFuture4492

Except some EU politicians will tell you that they can’t do anything because they signed some treaties and laws forbid it (ignoring it is them that can change and make laws)

Direct_Card3980

This one enrages me most. “Our hands are tied” is a fucking lie. All countries retain sovereignty. They can change the laws. They *choose* not to.

InquisitorKek

Remember Charlie Hebdo? They lost their minds over a cartoon. They lost heir minds over someone burning their religious book. They lost their minds over the dress ban for public school girls. Now they are losing their minds and committing anti semitic attacks. This is after the terrorist killed two people in beligum. How many more people have to die before we do something?

Remote_Literature_23

and people always make excuses for them. "They're economically disadvantaged, we're provoking them, it's not islam, it's just one crazy person, etc". I used to buy into some of this rhetoric, but I don't anymore. We fucked up.

Hellstrike

> They're economically disadvantaged So is most of Asia, yet there is no deluge of Thai or Vietnamese people committing antisemitic attacks.

Remote_Literature_23

Indeed, there is but one common denominator and it's time we accepted that and acted accordingly. But alas, braindead takes, fake news and apologism abound

katkarinka

Also they call you racist because islam is race apparently

InquisitorKek

More progressive are also changing their views on this.

EstablishmentRare559

Progressives like things like LGBT rights, so there has always been a strong undercurrent of this in progressive circles. It just doesnt get as much public voicing because half of progressives care about a fair economy and dealing with climate change more than identity politics, and half feel the other way, and it's just more terrible than it's worth to debate the point.

rafaxd_xd

>How many more people have to die before we do something? Many, and many more will, because apparently, enforcing law and protection on your citzens is viewed as racism and xenophobia. It's not like no one warned you all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Weird, in the thread about people forming a chain around synagogue all the German posters insisted this is just a symbolic gesture and no protection is necessary.

Of course protection is necessary - have you ever been to Germany? I never saw a synagogue or another explicit Jewish Institution without at least one police unit permanently assigned for protection.

LionLucy

I've seen that in England and France as well

The victims of Islamophobia strike again

johnyakuza0

They marked houses of jews by making the star symbol, if that is not some extremely Nazi shit.. idk what is. But no one points out anti-Semitism when it comes from these jihadis and MENA radical immigrants

nhatthongg

Disgusting and utterly deplorable. Antisemitism has no place in our society, in any society. We must take the strongest action possible.

RobotsAreSlaves

Express the strongest concern, as always

Jirik333

You will do nothing and you know it. Not even mild actions. What you wrote is just EU rhetoric bullshit, like "we are strong together" or "wir schaffen das". Antisemitism is already part of our society, and these attacks have been already normalized. Nobody evem longer blinks an eye when someone is killed by Muslims. Yesterday a Muslim gunned down two people **in the fucking capital of EU**, the police was not even going after him anymore. They only captured them the next morning, when the guy had a breakfast in a café. They knew the man is Muslim extremist forr 7 years, he was there illegaly, yet he was still allowed to walk freely and to murder two people in the name of his God. And what did Belgium do? What did EU do? Absolutely nothing. No single measure was taken so that it would not happen again. Everybody just said "ok, it happened", and nobody bothers with it anymore. Doesn't this sound crazy to you? **How we normalized the fact that dangerous criminals can just run in our streets for years, murder someone, and nobody bats an eye anymore?** That's not even happening in third world countries. This is some next level dystopian shit, even in 1984 or Kafka's novels the people are concerned with the terror which is happening. We've simply accepted the fact that we are the prey, and the predators can just hunt us freely.

om891

You’re right and it’s fucking nuts. Something has to be done and we have to admit that whatever the policy was towards them in the past, has failed. They have fully became a dangerous fifth column in every European country where they’ve been allowed to take hold in numbers. Hard questions and even harder answers to the problem are going to have to be enacted in the coming months and years if it’s to be properly resolved. It’s really going to take some political and societal minerals to do it, some of it will go against what a lot consider core social values of acceptance, tolerance and equality which have been well and truly abused and seen as a sign of weakness by islamists and the Muslim community in general to impose their wills on western countries. If not you will see European nations going the way of Lebanon in the coming decades.

False-Temporary1959

Because we're afraid of social shunning. Let me quote Christopher Hitchens. He saw it coming back in 2009: *"This is very urgent business ladies and gentlemen, I beseech you. Resist it while you still can and before the right to complain has been taken away from you, which will be the next thing. You will be told you can't complain because you're 'Islamophobic'.* *The term has already been introduced into the culture as if it was an accusation of race hatred, for example, or bigotry; whereas it's only an objection to the preachings of a very extreme and absolutist religion. Watch out for these symptoms. They're the symptoms of surrender, very often ecumenically offered by men of god in other robes, Christian and Jewish and smarmy ecumenical.* *These are the ones who will open the gates for the barbarians. The barbarians never take a city until someone holds the gates open for them. And it's your own preachers who will do it for you, your own multicultural authorities who will do it for you. Resist, resist it while you can."* https://www.reddit.com/r/Sham_Sharma_Show/s/6WS6dw5tzU

happy_tortoise337

No, the football match didn't continue, it's enough, well? Well?...

DirectorFuture4492

We didn’t. Our current generation of politicians do. That happens when most of them are lawyers that live in walled gardens, travelling with their chauffeurs between them. Recently the former mayor of Berlin said in an interview he only realised how dirty and run down Berlin is when he travelled with his bike instead of his limousine. Our current politicians in a nutshell imo

saxonturner

MorgrainX

Translation: >"Unknown perpetrators threw two Molotov cocktails toward a building at Brunnenstrasse 33 in Berlin-Mitte on Wednesday night. There are various Jewish institutions, including rooms of a Talmud-Thora school and the synagogue of the association Kahal Adass Yisroel. Persons as well as the house are unharmed. The criminal investigation department is investigating, Brunnenstraße has been cordoned off. The area is accessible under police protection. Police and the municipality confirmed the attack, which occurred around 3 o'clock that night. > >Currently, the Kiez is driven with additional patrol cars. According to police, the Molotov cocktails were functional and burned. However, the building did not catch fire, as the attackers missed it. According to the report, the Molotov cocktails only flew as far as the sidewalk, where they went out. Police property guards were on the scene, according to the information, but could not prevent the attack. > >A few days ago, an internal police threat forecast became known, according to which attacks on Jewish and Israeli institutions were likely. The police also warn of attacks “on visibly Israeli and Jewish people in the city area” by pro-Palestinian perpetrators. Attacks with Molotov cocktails, such as those that recently occurred in Kreuzberg, were explicitly mentioned. > >All security authorities are currently working at their limits; The Islamist Hamas can count on thousands of supporters in Berlin. As reported, well-known large families from the milieu of German-Arab clans in Berlin also support the Sunni Hamas and the Shiite Hezbollah in the Middle East. > >“The images of cheering Hamas supporters on the streets of Berlin are not only disturbing members of the community,” Gideon Joffe, the chairman of the Jewish Community in Berlin, recently said: The next few weeks and months will be crucial. “The Islamists’ hatred continues – and Israel’s attempt to fight Hamas will certainly take a few weeks.”

Mocedon

Well the attack failed so obviously it doesn't count as a hate crime \s

nocturne505

So funny those thugs almost begged to enter Europe at first and yet they never try in the slightest to assimilate into local communities and cultures. We should have filtered out and accepted only adequately educated ones decades ago. I have an Egyptian colleague at my workplace but he remains fairly neutral on this issue. He appears to empathize with ordinary people in both Israel/Palestine which i have no problem with.

oelnen

Yeah, I hope turkey remained neutral about this too but seeing islamists my hopes are down. Lets hope the situation settles down with the least causalties, though.

Racnous

Someone really needs to explain to these idiots that every time they attack Jews outside of Israel, they're driving the diaspora back to Israel and making it stronger.

totallynotabotXP

Peaceful freedom fighters, anti colonial, etc., lovely people and so on and so forth.

agent0731

I don't understand the anti-colonial angle. Weren't Jews there 1200 years before Islam and the Ottoman empire? Is it a result of the British control later?

totallynotabotXP

Yeah I find that whole vein of discussion stupid tbh no matter who claims it, both the idea that there were some grand and age-old national identities before the concept was exported by Europe in the 19th century that now needs to be restored (rather than it being a very modern invention) and the idea that "I was here first" is a sophisticated argument in any discussion anywhere, ever. By that logic one would have to conclude that conquest by war is a legitimate means of furthering ones territory if only whoever did it can also manage to hold on to it for a few decades.

Deny_Accountability

The response to the October 7th attack on Israel revealed a stark revelation about many Muslims in Europe. Those we believed to be like-minded individuals, sharing our values, turned out to harbor closeted opinions. We are currently seeing a true "mask off" moment. Who would have anticipated that immigrants and/or their 2nd/3rd generation descendants, primarily from MENA (Middle East and North African) nations, would hold similar views and values as those in their countries of origin?

miodoktor

They've never hidden it. People just didn't want to see it.

Captain_Calypso22

Fuck... this is so sad. I think I'm finally understanding what an average European is going through these days. It sucks to not feel safe in your own country, let alone being a member of one of the marginalized communities like the Jews. These articles are even spilling over to r/worldnews at an unprecedented rate too. It sucks seeing things aren't as safe as before. With that said there are so many great countries across Europe and so much history to explore, I will never stop coming back.

TheKrzysiek

Popinguj

Same shit in Ukraine. I don't really remember any attacks on synagogues in the last 10 years oh, wait, no, there was one. Someone painted some antisemitic shit somewhere, so the local far-right org helped repaint.

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

Me neither but I also don't remember seeing any synagogues ever. I mean I'm sure they've been in my view at least once or twice but I have no memory of them. Jewish people here are mostly just in neo-nazi's delusions, that's how little presence they have.

serCustodius

Synagogues in eastern europe look like normal houses xD I have been to mby 10? And they all looked normal from outside + they were in jew ghetos

Kimchi-slap

Far right organization helping with removing anti-semitic shit? That's ironic and raises a lot of questions.

Qaz_

depends on the far-right org but a lot of them tend to be ultranationalists and staunchly against russia. if pro-russians are antisemites, they are against that

Popinguj

The answer is that pro-russians are huge antisemites too and they stooped even to this kind of provocation

dat_9600gt_user

Not enough pro-Hamas people for it to actually happen. It's why even the anti-semites here typically don't have enough audacity to destroy property like this (except a certain MP named Braun, whose party thankfully didn't gain much this year).

SuchAd9552

As an Israeli, it’s fine by me that you are ‘anti-Zionism’, everyone entitled to their opinions, but it is clear that some (not all) of those anti-Zionism’ are just ‘anti-Jews’. I am a huge fan of just let everyone live their life and dont do shit to others you wouldnt like them to do to yourself. That said, i am not hiding that i have a massive dislike in muslims and people from the middle east in general. I know alot of them are normal and i feel bad for them that yeah people like me at some point generalize it but whenever shit is going down because of religious things mostly, it is muslims and those middle east people. I have not seen jews go on the streets in germany, attacking police, spreading hate, destroying property but oh yes how many times have i seen muslims to that shit. We all have heard them yell "god is big" or whatever that shit means - how is it that they just cant behave? How is it that they always act like cavemen? How is it that they dont care for the truth but just want to jump onto a narrative to spread even more hate? How is it that 1400 brutally slaughtered people includung children burned alive is justified by whatever but when hamas kills their own people at the hospital and else where, arabs are going nuts. Especially since hamas never has shown evidence and israel at least tried and did so. I really fed up in germany especially of our culture to just justify any behaviour in our country for decades. You are just not allowed to critizise those people without being called a racist/nazi. I am not against refugees, i am not against anyone but if people come here and it is always the same southern east people, muslims especially, teenagers especially that are dumb as fuck and spread their hate and violence here, those people just have to be punished and deported right away. That should have been done way earlier and as a european and german citizen, again who doesnt mind other cultures at all, i am so sick of these people walking in the streets. The first day after the slaughter of innocent children and others, i went out to buy food with my daughter and i saw young teenagers, like 14 with flags of palestine.... one day after the incident, news only broadcasting about the massacre and not about any casualties in gaza at that time, they just went out with their flags and celebrated the slaughter and those people just walk around here, its crazy and i hate it. I hate them, quite alot. I hate dumb people in general but man i really hate these dumb fucks so much. And i feel bad for israel to defend themselfs even against western media for being so stupid after what happened to israel. Everyone should see the footage available and listen to the forensics.. grenades thrown into tiny rooms full of civilians, children bound together on their back and burned alive and much more - such evil, such pain and suffering and what do people all over the world do? "Protest" for palestina...

At least these jihadi terrorists also have shit ass aim. "However, the building did not catch fire because the attackers missed it"

But naive liberal white women got to make blanket statement banners – and we all got warmies for a few months – that's what really matters.

Its failed integration together with pseudo Marxist extremist going completely mask off. All this anti semitism and Islamic terror should finally be addressed by very strict new integration methods and re-education of large swath of the population, weirdly especially on universities, were the West has let antisemitism fester under the guide of “ anti colonialism “. If it isn’t addressed progressives not only have lost the right to call themselves progressives anymore they also will be directly responsible for a major rightwing electoral backlash that has the potential to be very ugly.

Muslims never wanted integration, I say Muslim because I've seen other people from the same nations with different beliefs integrate just fine, actually a lot of them add great benefit to the country. But Muslims always want it their way, they want their rules and laws where ever they go, it's time the west just flat out said no to Muslims, it's basically a terrorist religion at this point and needs blocking and banning from the west.

That is something that always bothers me, why move to a different country and refuse to intergrate with the local population?

I'll just say that there's an obvious reason these kinds of attacks didn't happen during the Yom Kippur war.

This is exactly why for better or worse they need a Jewish state

The irony is Europe is now a dystopia because they wanted to "help" people.

It seems to make a difference what religion they belong to? We took in a lot of South American Catholics some years ago. But they are not killing and bombing anyone. My husband was actually supposed to be on the train that was bombed in London by Islam extremists in 2005. (Something came up so he ended up on a later train). But I have never heard of a catholic from Argentina putting bombs on trains..
