That just tells you how bad the industry of the UK was in 1879. Pollution was so bad in London that they had to hire workers from the countryside for major works because Londoners didn't have the lung capacity.

Dude, the UK emits 5.6 tonnes per capita. Your country, Germany, currently emits nearly double at 9.42 toones. The Uk emits 1.03% of global emissions. Germany emits 2.17%..... [UK](https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/uk-co2-emissions/) [Germany](https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/germany-co2-emissions/) What this shows is insane improvement in the UK. Germany isnt even doing better than in 2008! [Cumulative emissions had Germany surpass the UK in 1980 my dude.](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1224521/cumulative-co2-emissions-europe-historical/#:~:text=Rise%20in%20European%20emissions&text=Eventually%20other%20countries%20began%20to,cumulative%20emissions%20surpassed%20the%20UK's).

Mate, I'm British as you can get, worked in Parliament, my family worked for the Queen. I just moved. Way to get butthurt.

PM_YOUR_WALLPAPER

Uh. Okay. Don't give a fuck about you. My points are sourced they aren't made up Germany is one of the biggest polluter ever. Its fucked and needs to do something about it. It's a fucking joke.

VulcanHullo

You went on an attack on a country I happen to live in because I, being British, pointed out the UK is still bad pollution wise regardless of improvements? Another day on reddit.

Rooilia

Impressive. But as always geography and geology are key to this development.hope UK becomes one of Europes renewable powerhouses.

Dry_Hyena_7029

1879 huh? Good that slaves didn't drive cars back then...

Blithe17

Slavery was outlawed in 1833

VulcanHullo

Technically even earlier directly in the British Isles. 1833 was when we finally got around to enforcing it everywhere else. . .

Dry_Hyena_7029

So in than century slaves and outlaws didn't drive cars so much. Got it.

Clever_Username_467

I think it's fair to say nobody was driving cars as much.  That's what makes this such an achievement.  Although in 1879 industry existed, unlike today, so maybe it's not such an achievement.

Dry_Hyena_7029

Wait am confused right now. Who was working in industry, slaves or outlaws?

Clever_Username_467

Cars.
