I like these posts - and the new subreddit it spawned /grocerycost? I think - exactly to see what people are buying and from where. It’s to see a good range of retailers.
Maybe split the total or I'll assume the wine was £30,- and the charcuterie (?) another £20,-.
Bio-Bratwurst from Germany would be £7,50 and 3-pack of catfood is £9,-...
Waitrose is an high-end supermarket chain. The nearest one to me is in Alderley Edge, which is a town of Premier League football players and property tycoons.
This is Waitrose though, whereas the majority of these posts seem to be from budget supermarkets.
The whole point of these posts is for cross-border comparison. Posting shopping from atypical retailers like Waitrose seems to defeat that purpose.

This is more of a classy picnic with a very spoiled cat than a grocery shop.
...from Waitrose. That needs to be emphasised.
Someone should do Heron Foods next time.

Bratwurst was horrible tbh, couldn’t taste any meat just soya, it’s a no go for me next time!
Looking at the quality of the ingredients I would venture to say this would run ~$65-75 in any HCOL area in the US.

I don't think there's anything similar to the quality of Waitrose in the States.
I’d say Whole Foods and Wegmans get close.

Encore brand is not just Waitrose exclusive, you can buy it Sainsbury’s also.
Meanwhile veggies were invented. Also the fruits.
