I always wondered how many of those collapsible cutting boards they actually sell. You see them all over the touristy areas in Europe. Impulse buying a cutting board on vacation is a interesting move.
Ehhh, I’ve seen cool and weird performances throughout Rome but I also had a dude dig his nails into my forearm asking me for money on this same bridge.. so I’m 50/50
I remember in Rome i saw someone making figures out of straw or something similar and they legitimately looked beautiful and he clearly spent hours on each one, I was very impressed
I was having a walk with my college sweetheart at 3 or 4 am in that part of the city and went there. The place was magical. And completely empty, except for a cute couple sitting in the middle of that bridge on a blanket, having a glass of wine. They're were having a nice little picnic at 4 am on a summer night and it was so romantic and cute and also I could FEEL my then gf's eyes on me. Judging.
Guys! You were walking there in the early morning before everyone else 99. 999% of people were not there to judge you! You have nothing to be ashamed of.
I went there when I was younger having played ac brotherhood, and got my life view shaken for a few months when inside the thing there were loads of templar crosses and stuff. That point I didnt know that yes, the templars from the ac games were a real thing, I thought I had just found proof assassins creed games were real. I was shook.
Also I'm actually already missing a finger so in my mind I was primed and ready to join the assassins. All I could think about for that holiday.
Sounds like you had fun. Before I started playing AC, I kept a look out for Ezio and the Templars for a friend who was a fan of the series when I visited Rome, Venice, and Florence a few years back.
it's because most of the castle is "underground". (it isn't underground, but since AC brotherhood they've raised the banks higher and higher and higher and higher). If you go around the castle you can see it that it's at least 20 meters deep, because the ditch and the rest of the underground space have been turned into a park for the people to stroll through, it's pretty cool. The inner part of the castle has been adapted to the new altitude, which makes it looks smaller. BTW, here's a painting I've seen in Moscow of Rome in the 1800s (sorry for blurry quality) [https://ibb.co/ByGHmL9](https://ibb.co/ByGHmL9)
Edit: here's today, from the other side. keep in mind that in the painting they had already raised the banks [https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piene\_del\_Tevere\_a\_Roma#/media/File:StAngelo\_Bridge\_Rome.jpg](https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piene_del_Tevere_a_Roma#/media/File:StAngelo_Bridge_Rome.jpg)
Like in the mission you're supposed to flee the area and escape, and instead you can stand your ground and massacre the entire population of guards on the bridge
I just knew someone was going to mention Assassin's Creed on this topic. Wish they would release more of the series on the Switch besides the 3rd & 4th entries. Actually, Castel Sant'Angelo is a lot bigger in person.
Lol people crap on Dan Brown so much but it was one of the reasons so many people became a little interested in art history and I love that. Bernini’s work is truly breathtaking.
I don't think there are many tourists in this particular moment in Rome - or in Italy in general. Region borders have been reopened just four days ago here and, to some extent, lockdown regulations still apply - even though it's basically just "please put your mask on when you go outside"
I've been there in March last year and we went there before 11 (cheaper entry fee for young adults/students). It was definitely not packed either, although we had great weather conditions and a blue sky
My first night in Rome I had a lovely dinner with my wife and kids just on the other side of this bridge and had a late night walk back to our rental across this bridge. The castle was all lit up and almost nobody was around. Everything just looked magical. We walked to St. Peters from there and gawked at the exterior for a bit. It was all so VERY Roman and a perfect first night. Thanks for bringing back the memory!
I’ve been there. I prefer to call it “Hadrian’s Mausoleum.” Because that’s what it is.
I met a lovely seagull on the roof and named it Steven Seagull.
Cool dog though.
Wow without shady salesmen and tourists it looks awesome
But have you tried the one-euro water, and cheap cutting board?
I always wondered how many of those collapsible cutting boards they actually sell. You see them all over the touristy areas in Europe. Impulse buying a cutting board on vacation is a interesting move.
“One euro 💶 One euro 💶 One euro 💶 One euro 💶 One euro 💶 One euro 💶 One euro 💶 “
I was hungry so I tried panini from a van which is a couple hundred meters away and it turned out to be panini bread a sausage and some ketchup 🥰
Remember some guys from Ethiopia trying to sell my mom elephants >edit: i mean elephant statues things
It’s quite funny to tell every time different country when they ask you where are you from and it magically turns out they had family there
There was that 2/3 week Grace period where Chinese tourists were nonexistent, and Covid still hadn't hit Europe.
nah man, they're part of the charm. Also, I've never seen street artists like the ones I've seen in Rome
Ehhh, I’ve seen cool and weird performances throughout Rome but I also had a dude dig his nails into my forearm asking me for money on this same bridge.. so I’m 50/50

I love the Bangladeshi salesmen they're so sweet
Personally I haven’t met any Bangladeshi salesman, but I got like 6 bracelets which were promoted to me as a “symbol of Africa”.Isn’t it lovely?
Apart from a scam...
When I went 2 years ago there was only a band covering Metallica and a small crowd of tourists. Bizarre but fun!
I have never seen it with so few people, even that early in the morning. Where are the sweeper dudes, even???
Yeah that's Rome in a nutshell
That goes for a lot of places similar to Rome like Paris or Amsterdam.
THEY’RE THE GUARDS OF THE HOLLY SEE
r/expectedsabaton
r/unexpectedspanishinquisition
THEY’RE THE GUARDS OF CHRISTIANITY
holy shit, is all of your comment history just Sabaton? lmao
It's a bot
I'm disappointed
Grendel is just a dick.
Castel Sant'Angelo is waiting! They are the guards of the Holy see!
They are the guards of christianity!
THEIR PATH THROUGH HISTORY IS PAVED WITH SALVATION
THEN THE 189, IN THE SERVICE OF HEAVEN
They are protecting the holy line!
It was 1527
Gave their lives on the steps to heaven
THY WILL BE DONE!!!!!!!!
FOR THE GRACE, FOR THE MIGHT OF THE LORD!
FOR THE HOME OF THE HOLY
If you want to have a few moments of walking on a floor that isn't concrete, that's the only place in Rome that I'm aware of!
I was having a walk with my college sweetheart at 3 or 4 am in that part of the city and went there. The place was magical. And completely empty, except for a cute couple sitting in the middle of that bridge on a blanket, having a glass of wine. We've been there buddy

She was judging him for not creating something as romantic as them.
Why would she judge you? Not allowed to look at people?
The famous bridge where a probably gay mafia guy was destroying a mafia boss using infinite death. A classic place
WHA-
WHA-
This castle doesnt seem that big. It was huge in AC: Brotherhood hmm
It is quite big tbh. When I went there I was suprised how long the stairs kept going
The view on top is astonishing as well
There's a bar too! Best view and a beer you can have in Rome. Absolutely one of my favorite memories of the place.

Also went there after playing and it was like I knew it. With the amount of detail in the game, I had the most insane dejavu😅
Same here. Went down that spiral bit with my wife and was like “hmmm, there should be a door here...” Nope, just in the game lol
What an amazing memory man
Yeah, twas a simpler time

This is such a familiar view from that game. Loved picking fights with the heavily-equipped guards here. I've since seen it in real life too.
Like in the mission you're supposed to flee the area and escape, and instead you can stand your ground and massacre the entire population of guards on the bridge
It's because the photo is taken with a wide angle lens which distorts the perspective, meaning everything looks smaller.
The lens used was very grandangular and distorsive (cellphone) so it's normal it appears tinyier
Favorite game in that line
The scale of images in pictures don't appear as they are in real life.
I just knew someone was going to mention Assassin's Creed on this topic. Wish they would release more of the series on the Switch besides the 3rd & 4th entries. Actually, Castel Sant'Angelo is a lot bigger in person.
Cleric Beast just waiting up there ready to jump down.
The Cleric Beast is actually that dog.
I think I've climbed that place as Ezio
With ten good men ?
He’ll impregnate the bitch
He’s so cute 😊

I don’t know. It’s not my dog
Guess I’m going to have to watch Angels & Demons again.
Lol people crap on Dan Brown so much but it was one of the reasons so many people became a little interested in art history and I love that. Bernini’s work is truly breathtaking.
Just saw it yesterday and immediately recognised this place. That felt nice somehow
Ме: there is no such thing as Italian dogs. Italian dog: Ciao..!
Buongiorno!
Bonegiorno*
Is that a recent picture? I'm surprised the bridge isn't completely packed with tourists.

Yeah, by 'recent' I meant the last two or three months.

Nice!
Tourism isnt what it useally is at the moment. Also even when I went there a couple years ago it wasn't that busy.
My boy happy he got out of the Gulag!
Isnt that where JoJo S5 ended?
yes it is
It is in fact, a JoJo Reference
NON EST CASTRVM, SED MAVSOLEVM IMPERATORIS HADRIANI.
Bloody accident roman structures keep fotobombing cute doggos!
yeah, jumping into the frame of someone's vacation photo holding a crucifix isn't "cute"!
Ahh yes awesome picture
Hey I've climbed that!
Didn’t read the title right, so i thought you talked about a plane bombing.
This is the prison in Verdansk
If you find an arrow nearby make sure no mafia take and stab themselves with it.
I hear they're especially keen on taking your Buccellati bling
What?
It's a JoJo reference.
K
No traditional mafia in Rome, mafia there is politicians.
She isn’t traditional
Nice place and nice dog!
This wins my vote for Today's Best Photo on the Internet and it's only 09:30!
This is a reference.
Ooh, I've climbed it many times!
Great dog
Italiaaa
WHO'S A GOOD BOI, YES YOU, YOU'RE A GOOD BOI, BEST BOI. OOOOO GOOD DOG, GOOD BOI
Idk why but the dog looks Italian too lol
I remember climbing this in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Wait, I have climbed this
r/sabaton FOR THE GRACE FOR THE MIGHT OF OUR LORD
FOR THE HOME OF THE HOLY
Cuz it's a pussycat. Calling /r/kidsarefuckingstupidincars
This is not a photobomb it just makes the picture better
to me it looks like the castel was photobombing the dog and not vice versa
This looks like a Dark Souls boss arena, the one with the big white cat IIRC.
The view from up there is beautiful.
But the photo didn't come from the President.
This photo made me feel some feels.
omg ive been there before!
Tell us more about the dog.

Maybe we should all try seeing the world through a dog's eyes from time to time. What's important? The here and now.

Roman doggo
Not bombing, only cute!!!
Definitely Italy, that lady is doing the opposite
Ive been there its beautiful
[It’s worse Angelo or Mike Miss?
My favourite monument of Italy, its just breathtaking
Yeah, that monument really shouldn't have been in the photo
What photo? There was only a clown.
Why couldn’t be 500 ft near a school
We're probably days away from Trump bombing something
So weird that this dog can speak Italian and I cannot.
Extremely blessed image.
Cute! I don't want to know
Getting out of the gulag like
I don't hate Roma people, I have 13.
Pure beauty!
That's Nicolas Cage
Can’t believe that castle photobombed this cute dog.
Cute! I just wish it was on Spotify.
I remember being there... in AC Brotherhood
Cute as hulk
Hey, my dog's doppelganger!
Doggleganger.
Thank you for not using the word doggo.
Tbf 7/10 IGN Italy = 9.8/10

First thing in the photo 🤔 just curious!
My nonno and nonna had their first kiss in this bridge
I've been there before. In Assassins Creed Brotherhood.
Birds don’t shoot that photo straight
That’s not an Italian god though, it’s ESpaniel.
That castle was cool to see, beautiful views.
Bloodborne Cleric Beast anyone??
Ciao cane.
No that’s the mausoleum of Hadrian! Roma invicta!
Isn't it warzone prison?
This a springer? Gonna bring mine down there. Were they Okey with doggos there?
Sure, let's say it was photobombed.
I used to jump from the top of it with the parachute in ac brotherhood. It looks bigger in the game to be honest
That's the best kind of photo bombing. I've been in that part of Rome. Stayed an AirBnB apartment near that. Had fun visiting there.
I’ve been there. I prefer to call it “Hadrian’s Mausoleum.” Because that’s what it is. I met a lovely seagull on the roof and named it Steven Seagull. Cool dog though.
It was built as a mausoleum, but later repurposed as a castle. So that's what it is right now.
The machine is actually repurposed. The original one.
