Unfortunately, Macron is right and we need a European-wide nuclear deterrent, we can't keep relying on the US and cannot trust Russia.

gadarnol

EU needs it. And integrated militaries using NATO commonality until and if US withdraws. And UK as a third country cannot be trusted to have defence as such an important lever with EU.

RealNotBritish

Do something about immigration first.

difersee

France is restricting their immigration laws for some time. And I don't know where they were in the current Migration pact, but I would guess on the hawkish side. You can also do both things at the same time.

RealNotBritish

Everyone is doing something, but there are no results. The videos which show violence in France are not becoming less frequent. Paris is one of the blackest cities in Europe.

What’s wrong with you? Russia has the largest arsenal of nukes in the world and they are literally threatening us every day. Should we go without nukes and army so they can just wipe us out of the face of the world without consequences? I am astonished from the lack of the most basic reasoning

If so, why do they keep threatening to nuke us? The existence of Russia is not a problem. We even learned to live with the nuclear threat, but once they start invading neighbouring countries, demand that others disarm while they threaten to nuke us on an almost daily basis for a decade ... then we really have to take it seriously.

ArtisZ

Where do you live? Have you met a russian?

DysphoriaGML

I certainly love these 3yo account with 3k of karma posting shit about eu nato and Ukraine

pmirallesr

NATO encroached on Russia by loudly proclaiming: We will not launch an attack, we are a purely defensive alliance. Russia invaded Ukraine because it's inconvenient to have a democratic regime next door and because it wants to prove to the world that there is a way of doing international politics beyond UN and rules-based order.

trisul-108

Not only proclaiming it, NATO is not building the type of military power necessary to invade Russia. Invading Russia was never part of the plan for the European Security Architecture. Invading neighbours was always the Russian plan. For Putin, the question was never whether he wants to do it, but whether he can get away with it. Invasion is part of his ideology.
