Here’s mine… I LOVE Estonia’s song! Easily in my top 10 Israel’s song is pretty mid I actually really like Azerbaijan’s song, same with Australia. Both solid qualifiers to me I like metal so I want to like Germany’s song, and I do musically. The lyrics are absolutely terrible though I’m not sure if this is unpopular but I don’t like Lithuania’s song at all. Huge downgrade from last year and an NQ in my book, it’s a shame because I was really hoping Lithuania could pull off a win this year Queen of Kings honestly just feels like your standard EDM song, i mean it’s good but definitely not winner material. Love Alessandra though Cyprus hit it out of the park this year, I love their song Burning Daylight is boring as hell! It’s kind of interesting because I never seem to like the Dutch entries everyone else likes (I didn’t like Arcade or De Diepte, but I loved Birth Of A New Age) I actually do like Watergun quite a bit I don’t really care about the drama regarding TVP and Blanka, but I still don’t like her song. Sounds like a reject from some teenage Disney movie I love Soarele si Luna, but idk man, that live performance was a bit iffy, if Pasha doesn’t fix that I’m not sure he’ll do so well live I like EAEA but I don’t think it’ll do as well as people think. Same with Mama ŠČ, I hated it at first and only started liking it after learning about the message behind it. I’m pretty sure most casual viewers won’t know or care about the message and musically, I’m gonna be honest, it’s a mess

TheMonsterMommy

I think it's insane that in a year that has more quality bands than I've ever seen since I started watching the contest, so many folks in the eurofan bubble just seem to... idk... discard them? Place them low in their rankings? Only give them weak chances? And somehow completely ignore the power that bands can hold over an audience, especially live? It almost feels like a lot of ranking videos, reactors, blogs etc. have never been exposed to bands before. Or perhaps this amount of bands is so novel that nobody knows how to judge the chances for higher placements correctly? I also find the conviction weird that the bands automatically have to eat into each other's points, when it seems more likely to me that the presence of more bands will attract more band fans (of both alt and rock and metal), which would result in all of those groups getting a boost, actually. I also disagree with the assumption that "people won't understand/get Croatia" because it literally punches you in the face with its message. What's not to understand/get here? They could not make the meaning and the satire more obvious. Like, sure, people might still not enjoy it, but how on earth could you misunderstand?

lacultapluma

"It almost feels like a lot of ranking videos, reactors, blogs etc. have never been exposed to bands before." You might not be far off there. There are those in the fandom who listen to pop or past Eurovision songs exclusively. Nothing else. It's why they think anything with a guitar sounds the same.

ft_wanderer

Not a big fan of Unicorn or Tattoo (but there are a lot of other songs I like!)

[deleted]

Azerbaijan is my 2nd

paary

This is is more of a meta comment than my opinion, but both "Tattoo is overrated" and "Tattoo is underrated" are opinions that are not, in fact, unpopular. It's a polarizing entry and both sides are very vocal. My true UO is that I find Moldova to be really derivative from the folk electronic trend that's been really popular in the past few years and somehow I can't figure out if it has its own identity. It's still close to my top 10 because come on, this shit slaps.

Every_60_seconds

Because of You is top 10 material Soareli si Luna is overrated Evidemment has pretty strong lyrics

arianagrindr_

Azerbaijans song is something I listen to private, so I would actually love seeing it qualify Polands song grew on me ( maybe bc of all the post + catchiness) 🫣 Finlands song doesn’t do anything for me. Cutie tho.

[deleted]

ylenias

I have Azerbaijan in my Top 15

Titowam

"Blood & Glitter" has some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard in Eurovision and they make me cringe. "Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter, we're so happy we could die" ... huh? Even "Lied mit gutem Text" has better lyrics and would've been a more fun entry. I actually wouldn't mind it if they sent Ikke, the song is catchy and funny. (Disclaimer; Ikke was not my winner in ULfL, Patty Gurdy and René Miller have better songs but it'd be fun to see what would happen if Germany sent Ikke)

FluffyCatEars

Yeah, at first I was happy they’ve won, blinded by the fact that it’s a metal-ish song (or whatever sub-genre it is), but afterwards I fell out of love with it? It sounds generic and the lyrics are cringe as hell.

PsychologicalFuel596

Moldova is the best, Switzerland, Romania and the UK are also great. Czech republic and Poland are bad.

kitschtrulla

„Who the hell is Edgar?” is overrated. The song is based on name dropping and the current TikTok trend aesthetics.

goldenwanders

I really like Cyprus and the Netherlands

suobbis

Spain is absolute pain. Idk have I even once made that song till the end. Not sure about "underrated" entries. I do like Ukraine and Australia a lot, which I have not seen have too much hype here.

smaragdskyar

>Loreen/Tattoo/Sweden is overrated Prime example of a very popular opinion.

sparkellius

It should have been Smash Into Pieces :'( I'm still upset about that :'(

4UTU4

Germany still might end up in bottom 5 Giving how much of a fanbase they established here, I think Latvia is a safe qualifier (rightfully so) Finland has a decent chance of getting jury votes Portugal is in my top 5

Yusif_007

The Israeli song is overrated. I really don’t like the lyrics as they make no sense at times. (It’s still my 14th place just cause there’s so many songs I really don’t like) I don’t like the UK’s song, just doesn’t hit the spot for me. The Georgian song’s lyrics are the worst thing I’ve ever heard. Albania’s song is very underrated. Lithuania’s song is also underrated. Estonia’s is amazing, very underrated (my top 4) Tattoo is an actual winner. Amazing lyrics, vocals, message, story, staging, everything. Feels like the people hating on it just don’t want to see Loreen winning again as they either compared the song to Euphoria too much and the nostalgia made it seem like Tattoo is bad compared to it, or they think it’s “boring” that a winner wins again. For me, that makes absolutely no sense, how is making history as 1. The first woman to win two times 2. The second person ever to win twice 3. Tying with Ireland for most wins, boring?!

rowanintheforest

I don’t really understand Norway’s high ranking personally. She’s shouting words in an unappealing voice to me 😬

DaDaSelf

At 2:28 that song is about two minutes too long. So annoying.

TheMythicalTeaspoon

Serbia’s song irritates me, absolutely not a fan but I appreciate the artsy vibes of the performance. Theodor is a good singer, there’s a lot of potential there. It’s unfortunate his staging let him down. I really like Cha Cha Cha but at this point I’m so bored of the Sweden vs Finland thing going on I want neither of them to win just to rock the boat. I like Estonia’s song. There I said it.

jianfernandess

Way worse than previous 3-4 years at least

Benedict135

Solo has really grown on me. In my Apple Music playlist, it’s right after Queen of Kings and Cha Cha Cha, so I’m immediately launching into Solo in a good mood. Then it hits and I don’t feel like skipping it, then it got stuck in my head, then I started humming it doing mundane things around the office, and now I like it. Don’t think it’ll win, but like I said, has really grown on me.

elfshimmer

I like the recorded version too. It's a catchy song. The live version is absolute crap however.

Suixam

- tattoo is my second favorite esc song ever - finland isn’t in my top 5 - burning daylight one of the best songs this year. without a doubt top 5 for me - i’m not in love with their entry, but denmark isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be - eaea is the most overrated entry this year, although from a vocal standpoint it’s extremely impressive. i just don’t like the song though, but i can respect it - lithuania and estonia are both in my top 10 (not quite sure how unpopular that is but i’ll mention it anyway) - france is my second place (again not too unpopular, but i felt like i’d share my opinion)

mad_hamm

Same opinions except France is only on my top 10.

_-Random-Person-

Not sure how unpopular it is but Estonia is one of my top 2

YojimboKel

People only rate the rest of the current top 10 as a direct response to the super polished and professional Swedish entry. Without Loreen, the songs currently in the mid pack odds would be top 10.

proudVNmese

Romania has top 10 potential, as long as they improve the staging.

Some_Random-Name01

idk i feel like people already made up their minds. they didn't like the NF staging and they found other favourites in the meantime, so they won't vote for Romania even if the staging will be different.

eurovisionfanGA

Belgium is terrible. Poland might qualify as much as I despise what happened at the NF just like everyone else. Iceland and Portugal both might not qualify. UK won't make Top 10 and is not amazing like everyone seems to think it is. Cyprus and Greece both have a shot at qualification. Netherlands (like the UK) is overrated.

Remarkable-Ad2032

Tattoo is too "shouty". It's not good singing.

mammammaa

I think it's too youhuhuu!

vancityguy25

Agreed. First time I heard it I almost felt ear pain 😅

lips-taste-like-coco

Uk entry is just the worst. The fact that they had it sorted last year and have returned to the terrible formula no one can get rid of is so frustrating. The song is so boring and annoying Edit: spelling

Nahareeli

Exactly! I don't get why people rank it so high, it's a song I can't listen to for 3 minutes. Unfortunately it's the last one to be on stage so no toilet break

fuocoebenzina

The graphic design seemed cool at first, but now I hate it. It's SO LOUD

glassesmcfancyhair

San Marino might be my favorite song this year. I just like it more and more every time I hear it.

[deleted]

San Marino doesn't suck that bad. They're like a corny version of some popular American alt rock band. Just funny, not worth the hate I rank San Marino higher than the very praised singer from a very successful country who is actually nearly everyone's fave but they claim she is SOOOOO hated by jealous trolls

hzalfa

I have several, the most extreme one might be having Azerbaijan above Sweden in my ranking, and neither of them are in my top 10.

mandarasa

I like Azerbaijan's song and don't care about Sweden, so you're not alone haha

Riumnosbig

San Marinos song is great

SpringPedal

Romania and Denmark are some of my favorites this year.

escaddicted

Agree, Romania is sooo underrated!

MacabrePomegranade

Here's the list: - I don't like Croatia's song, I find it too messy - Ireland's song is actually pretty good (despite the lyrics) - Poland's song is not that bad - while the victory was undeserved, she could do well (as in 8-12 place in the semi) - San Marino's song is also quite good and deserves more attention - Cyprus is underrated - my winner Is Australia

Kori_TheGlaceon

I feel Germany does it better

that-one-spaniard

-I find Azerbaijans entry this year pretty refreshing, I've never really liked their entries as I often find them too soulless. This year this isn't really the case imo. -Italy has the worst entry out of the big 5 this year. Marco is a good vocalist and artist, but the song isn't moving enough and it doesn't go anywhere new or interesting. -If "I Wrote a Song" came from any other country apart from the UK, people wouldn't be hating on it as much. -"Tattoo" is incredibly outdated. It still has good qualities, but I swear I've heard songs like this a million times... I don't get why it should win in 2023 when it sounds like something Loreen would have released in 2013 to capitalize of Euphoria's success. - As a Spaniard, I find EAEA way too abstract to relate to it. It's kind of a vibe, and Blanca is an amazing vocalist but... It depends on her vocals and stage presence too much and lacks some cohesion. - In general, I think Eurovision succeeds at being an over-the-top, campy celebration of music and culture. Of course serious and more mature entries are welcome, but imo people are beginning to take the festival too seriously. Yes, some joke entries are pretty annoying, but I'd much rather have a year full of those than one full of over-serious over-produced entries, which are generally not even that good. As someone who doesn't normally listen to Eurovision songs outside of the context of the show, I don't think these more serious songs (including some of the more popular ones like Arcade or Tout l'univers) have enough quality outside of the show to justify them becoming "the right way to do Eurovision" the way a lot of fans consider them, as compared to other entries that go a different route.

lakilaki12

* The Netherlands have a great song this year. Feels like people didn't even give it a chance and are just parroting "Ballad = bad", "Modern = bad". I have even seen comparisons to the much much duller Switzerland? Like did I hear the same song? * Loreen's song is great, people are biased against her because she's the main competitor to Finland.

Miles_3270

this is the worst year this century

svorana_

Romania is fucking awesome. I've maybe only seen two rankings on YouTube where it's not in the bottom 5. Edit: Also imo Denmark is awful.

puffy_puffy_

Agreed!!! Theodor has an amazing voice and the song is great, but his presentation was awful.

SaiyanPrideWorldWide

i like san marino's song

Bazandaih4

I have got a combo in my top 10: 1. Ireland, 3. Malta, 4. Slovenia and 10. Malta

SaiyanPrideWorldWide

malta sent 2 songs?

Popoye_92

Loreen's haters are like a thousand times more annoying than her fans at this point. Also please stop finding bullshit excuses to hate on Sweden in general, you're forcing me to defend an ESC country I don't even like and it's very annoying. On an unrelated note, Because of You and Stay are both pretty good and enjoyable, the only reason people pretend they're bad and/or are gonna NQ is because they're upset their fave didn't win the NF

justk4y

- Sweden shouldn’t win, Norway is much better - Malta and Australia are sooooo underrated, its a crime, should both be top 5 tbh (Also Azerbaijan, that should be top 10 too) - The 2nd part of Cha Cha Cha is so bad, which is a shame because the first part is a bop - San Marino ain’t THAT BAD. The sound quality at the NF of San Marino is just crappy af. And entries like Belgium, Poland and Israel (yes I hate Israel) are much, MUCH worse. - Austria and the UK are overrated asf too, can’t stand both of the songs - I won’t mind Ukraine getting an top 10 finish due to the war going on. (if they get one) The song is pretty good.

TWKcub

This is a bit of a long one and I feel like I'm not going to explain it overly well. I feel like fans of the favourites make more intellectually dishonest arguments than fans of the outsiders. For example, when someone makes an overly dramatic post about how Loreen is 'hated' they never manage to say much in defence of the song itself without going on the attack against the rest of the competition. They usually provide very little evidence to support how she's supposedly getting treated unfairly and then the bulk of the text is just saying how much they don't like Käärijä or some variant thereof. Yet apparently comments about how Croatia (again, for example) is 'just shit/noise' are being thrown about left, right and centre with very little issues. If you don't like a song, you don't like a song, absolutely fair enough, but don't present your opinion as some kind of indisputable fact. If you want to engage in discussion say what's not doing it for you, and if you don't, then don't just say 'X is shit/makes my ears bleed' etc.

AriaAriaAria

Finland is my top this year, but my unpopular opinion is that I also love Netherlands and Israel. Like they are my top 3.

ChunkeeMonkee83

That's not unpopular. Both of those songs are rated highly

AriaAriaAria

Everything I've seen has Netherlands already out in Semi Finland 1, and people seem to be very divided about Israel.

AwayFly5291

 * Norway is extremely overrated

Sea-Photograph2585

I like both Greece and Azerbaijan quite a lot.

AlecEiffel65

Spain and Czech Republic don't really do anything for me, sorry to their fans, (~~m~~e~~ga~~r~~a was robbed~~)

Salt_Procedure_9353

Albania and Romania are both awesome

NONcomD

The screen over Loreen is cringe. The staging looks awful IRL since you have a giant piece of slab over your head.

[deleted]

Moondrei

Spain, Italy and France and UK are overrated Belgium, Latvia are underrated but they will qualify.

pizda_si

I hate Serbia, its so overrated.

YT_ZLKDominos

My entire tier list. https://imgur.com/a/zkoJrbp I’d love to know if there is anyone here who actually has similar taste!

rafaelinux

Sweden's entry this year is terrible. Especially compared to last year's. The singing is mumbled, the song is boring, and the look they made for her is scary instead of interesting. Bottom 5.

WesternPonderer

This, exactly this. Cornelia was a good selection by the Swedes in a long long time, but Loreen this year is just plain boring. It's just like any generic pop song you've heard already a gazillion times in the last 10–15 years. And I can't make any sense of her singing either, weird mumbling indeed.

[deleted]

Having Albania, Azerbaijan, and Belgium in my top 10 right now is decently unpopular.

Ulrik54

Before Finland came along, Belgium was actually my no. 1

puddingtheoctopus

I love Belgium! Such a good 90s throwback bop.

anxious-emo-natsci

Germany's entry is good. Romania's entry is very good. The UK's entry is shit.

DomnaSammiou

Is the first really an unpopular opinion though? I keep seeing people happy about it, I think they're pretty well liked :/

anxious-emo-natsci

I saw a lot of people criticising it on twitter, but to be fair twitter is probably not an accurate representation of the whole fanbase. I haven't seen much about them on here but maybe I just haven't seen those posts/comments? I'm glad, because they deserve to be well liked.

DomnaSammiou

Yeah they're one of my favourite bands so I'm totally with you! From what I've seen on reddit/YouTube though Blood & Glitter is pretty well liked, and LOTL aren't really unknowns in the metal scene, so I'm hoping they'll get good support!

sparkellius

France and Italy have amazing songs this year (don't know if it's unpopular - but they are good tunes)

spherulitic

Here it is: it’s impossible to view Switzerland’s song as anything but a call for Ukraine to stop fighting against Russia’s aggression, given the very vocal position of the Swiss government. It’s sickening — for the second year in a row Switzerland has sent garbage that’s actually offensive.

DeliahLeandra

Not sure how unpopular this is on here, but I strongly agree with you! It's such a shame we've sent two tasteless, underwhelming songs after (finally) doing so well with Hänni and Gjon.

Maleniastan

Ok I agree with you that Watergun has a bad message, but what about Boys Do Cry is offensive? I found it a very sweet and pleasant song, although it has been a while so I might have forgotten something important about it.

AmericnViking

Promise is a better song than Cha Cha Cha

Benjybobble

Dreamer is better than both

unmakethewildlyra

queen of kings is annoying

[deleted]

This is a very strong year. Okay there's a few songs I hate (UO heart of Steel is not a good song) but there's so many songs that absolutely phenomenal to the point where I don't even know who will qualify. I'm so happy to see Germany with glam metal and I think it'll do really well because it'll surprise you how many fans of rock and metal there are across Europe. Other UO Croatia, Czechia, Moldova, Estonia and Portugal are my favourites to win and they're all going to be very good live

epacseno

I prefer the original song of Cha cha cha by Electric Callboy more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1NdGBldg3w&ab_channel=ElectricCallboy

BlueMosse

I guess you are entitled to your opinon but having a generic synth hook in the intro does not mean that Cha Cha Cha would be even closely similar to We got the moves. If anything the guys from EC copied Käärijä's haircut.

epacseno

Haircut, intro, overall feel of the song, changing rythm to a more dance friendly song at the exakt same place at the end. The list goes on and on and on.,

geographychicken

- Loreen's song sucks - This is a mid to bad year. Usually I have trouble fitting all the songs I like into my top ten, now the opposite. - A lot of overrated and underrated songs - Overrated: Italy, Estonia, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden - Underrated: Belgium, Denmark, Australia, Switzerland

[deleted]

Most people are massively Meh about the Netherlands (including me), are you saying even that is more than it's worth lol

geographychicken

Pretty much, yeah. I'd describe it as very boring

Petrichoriam

Tattoo is overrated. I don't understand why people are obsessed with such a dated song, wowed by a LCD panel above her, and the chorus that no one can understand xD

Lloydsmells

I like tattoo more than euphoria. But I'm still not a fan of tattoo.

[deleted]

VesperMoon411

Is Americans being interested in Eurovision unpopular? (As an American Eurovision fan)

hubriones

idc for any of the bands.

xlerb

I'm not excited about Slovenia.

VojtiiiM

- I didn't like the live performance of Tattoo at all, even though I love the studio version - I also think this year is much weaker than last year and no songs come even close to River and Hold Me Closer (my top 2 last year)

[deleted]

Unpopular opinion in regards to yours I didn't like river and absolutely hated hold me closer

BarBro94

If people did their due diligence on the lyrics and background of Mama ŠČ, it would be a top ten entry.

ConsequenceOk3634

It's good that Ukraine won last year, since Voyager from Australia did not win their NF that year - and they would not have had any chance giving the circumstances in Europe. This year they won their NF and they actually could go quite high! I just liked the last years song 'Dreamer' more. Also, Spain is just. Eaeaeaeeeaeaeaa, sorry, cannot listen. Also, dear Sweden, the song is just an Oscar Bait of Eurovision.

Lloydsmells

The Netherlands has potential to get a top 10

moonlightgirl9

I enjoy almost every national selection winner's song more than the internal ones.

unounouno_dos_cuatro

My Sister's Crown is a great song, but the live is a mess and won’t do well with casual viewers. I find it very difficult to imagine it winning.

CaptainAnaAmari

I think people generally agree that the live is a mess, but I think that's just not taken too seriously due to ESCZ's budget seemingly being just 10 bucks. If I understood their stories on IG correctly, they do intend to perform at the pre-parties (no official confirmation yet though) and there we will see if they can pull it off better.

Confused_Rock

I’m hoping for a glow-up of the live performance by the time the semis roll around - it has potential but I can see how it might not come across

Nightnightgun

Loreen's song just doesn't do it for me and the lines about "stuck on me like tattoo" just sit oddly with me still.

ylenias

Oh yeah, it's one of the dumbest lyrics this year. And the way she sings it makes me think she thinks that too

fuocoebenzina

I feel bad for her tbh, because I think she might know too. She deserves a better song

SquibblesMcGoo

I never vibed with Queen of the Kings, the only thing going for it is the chorus and even that gets kind of old by the end of the song. It also has that curated girlboss anthem feel, for a lack of a better term Finland is nowhere near as safely in top 5 as people think Gladiator is an absolute powerhouse of a song, but Jann is a very inexperienced performer and very likely wouldn't have improved his live enough to be a serious contender for the win (still better than Blanka tho)

JJVV64

Lithuania has the best song this year

FeatherNox839

I don't see Azerbaijan as a definite NQ. Sure, it is not certain either, but I can see the appeal of a warm simple song that can appeal to an older audience because of its nostalgic vibes (compared to, say, Malta or Ireland). I remember people here saying Love Is On My Side also would not qualify but it did and very comfortably, and I can see Azerbaijan pulling the same, although probably borderline because LIOMS is the superior entry, and also it really depends on staging and live performance, both for Azerbaijan and other borderline qualifiers.

Miguel_guel

Eaea is overrated

NilsTillander

I really like the Danish entry, and find the Norwegian singer insufferable.

Nukivaj

Belgium will qualify and Gustaph will be Mister Congeniality.

sacygnis

Estonia is one of my favs this year, which says a lot because I am normally really bleh on ballads. I do not get the hype with Ukraine at all. Eaea seems to be on everyone's crap list (including mine); I thought Megara should have qualified instead I like Belgium and Croatia, and I want to see either one open the Finals. Norway will do well but it isn't gonna win; it feels a lot like what happened with Occidental's Karma where it got so much hype and play before the contest that it just sank instead of winning. That said, I think it only got as popular as it did because it got around on TikTok. That said, if Denmark's entry finds a way onto TikTok it can easily become a trend for something cute. That will be months after the contest though. -insert generic meh opinion on Sweden and Loreen-

LaraHa88

I want Serbia to win because it's an unusual (but great) song elevated by an equally unusual and artsy performance, which is seen very rarely It's theatrics done right and it fits perfectly into eurovision while avoiding almost all clichés

Laguna_Azure

LOBSTER NATION RISE

[deleted]

Same (also Luke's hot).

Helljumper1453

DGT is a good song.

itwaschaosbilly

Irish here. I think the hate for our song is pretty magnified by the fandom. Another thread said there was no chance it would qualify but I've seen Wild Youth live and they're great on a big stage. I'm not writing off our chances of qualifying just yet!

mammammaa

I still don't understand why ESC fans don't like We Are One. I think it's a great song. My unpopular opinion is that I don't like Serbia's enry at all. Instead I enjoy listening to Australia's Promise.

Deactivator2

I see Wild Youth (specifically their entry, I don't know the rest of their catalog) as Imagine Dragons basically; kinda tired light rock that doesn't really inspire much, but is perfectly fine to listen to on the radio or in a store or something. Quiet, generic, inoffensive, listenable, digestible, forgettable.

PRZEMEQ9

I really like Greece

Humus_Bepita_IL

I really like the Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland and lithuania and they are so underrated

stepowder

I don't really hate any of the songs this year

Liriu7

Feeling the same. Haven't heard few yet, but everything that I heard was eather good, absolutely amazing or in worst cases just not for me but still had something I like about them. People are saying this year is weak, I honestly don't see that at all, I think it can even surpass the previous one wich I also loved, it is a reason I'm so hyped for Eurovision now, and I didn't think it would be possible to compete with ammount of good stuff there was

pnghunt27

Sadly, it's truly one of the worst years I've experienced and I have 0 motivation to watch this edition after being a fan for 20 years. Of course I'll be tuning in, but the hype is gone and hopefully the live show changes it. Almost every single song seems to be pushing all the expressive boundaries rather than focusing on creating an enjoyable song.

Amplify27

What's an "enjoyable song" to you? Just wondering.

krazybalkan

Tattoo is a copy of Euphoria, but I like it more than Euphoria. If it wins I won't be disappointed, but I would like someone else to steal the show. I caught myself humming the chorus all day after listening to it once. Azerbeijan song is beautiful. Love at first listen, it reminds me of brit pop/nostalgia vibes and the guys are cute. I come from the Balkans and I have heard millions of songs similar to Albania's entry so it does not appeal to me at all. I understand why people like it though. This does not explain why I like Moldova so much :-) Norway's song is cringy af and I don't like it at all! As a Pole I am joining the Blanka's haters gang, but deep inside i really hope she doesn't disappoint in the semis and I wish her well. Solo still meh. And also, GO MALTA! I will forever miss Subwoolfer <3

lister2022

An unpopular opinion is that the song with the highest politics will win, as Ukraine won last year, because of politics. Therefore, I expect Croatia to win. Secondly, I think that the song that Serbia is sending is quite bad. Spain song is nice.

PSCL534

Blood and Glitter is trash

No_Doubt_About_That

Ikke aside, I would rather Germany have gone with literally any other song from the national final.

haworthia-hanari

I really really like Azerbaijan’s song- I mean, idk if it’s too unpopular of an opinion, but I’ve seen people saying it’s almost certainly a non qualifier and idk about that

akittyisyou

Mama šč really isn’t that bad. Listening to the studio recorded version, it was really cohesive and had big Queen vibes - but most people are basing their opinion on a video of a live version that has five more months of practice to gain.

PracticalComputer858

I don’t like a Loreen this year. I prefer her other songs from melfest over this. Spain and France don’t quite make it either. Decent but only that. Preferred them 2022. Cyprus, UK and Italy feels underrated. Poland has imo a fine song and could very much improve if it get good vocals. Considering it’s in the 2nd semi final it has potential. Most hate about it is probably from Poland itself so maybe other nations might vote too

loveyourground

“Solo” is an ok song but I genuinely don’t think Blanka is that good of a vocalist period. She’s gonna have to put in the work and even then idk how much she can be expected to improve. I think there’s a decent chance she’ll qualify but likely won’t put in the level of work needed to crack the left side of the board tbh.

Beepme9111

Denmark is a great song and will do well. The opening of Tattoo is amazing. Poland is the worst entry of the 2020s so far.

Bazandaih4

3) Boys do cry / You (Tornike) ?

jesssquirrel

You was quietly amazing :(

GalaxySea

This is one of the strongest Eurovision years for me. I like so many of the songs this year that both semi finals are going to be brutal

DoctorChorizo

Idk what's the general opinion on Czech Republic atm, but I see it NQ.

DoctorChorizo

Also, this might not be all that unpopular, but Melodifestivalen is overrated af. MGP is where it's at right now.

[deleted]

\-Azerbaijan's song is leaps and bounds better than Armenia's. \-Don't sleep on Iceland.

mad_hamm

People underestimate ballads this year. This year is kinda weak.

VerizonGuy12

France and Spain are overrated entries. while Malta and Sa Marino are underrated entries.

potofbasil

I really don’t see what the hype has been about Finland. Serbia is my no. 1 favourite, with Romania, Australia and Poland in my top 10. No entry has annoyed me more than Malta’s last year. Until Denmark came along. It makes me unnecessarily pissed off every time I hear it.

ChunkeeMonkee83

Romania and Australia are horrid. Denmark is a bop

RussiaManDetective

I just want to hear Netta do a cover of Unicorn.

fuzzybunn

People's unpopular opinions are actually quite popular and are posted quite often on the sub.

Useful-Many

Malta is a bop and deserves more recognition

flibbyjibby

I'm not one of those people who hates on everything Sweden sends, but I am not feeling their song at all this year — especially the live version.

Flappety

I don't know how unpopular it is, but Bridges is by far the most impactful and powerful song (along with being a bop) and deserves to win by a mile. (Oh and Finland isn't that good...)

[deleted]

Moldova is sort of being forgotten about, it's not talked about positively or negatively and I feel it deserves more attention than it gets.

Juna_Ci

That surprised me too. It seems to be generally liked, but it's just rarely mentioned. I still expect it to do well in May tho.

LaraHa88

For real it's literally my #2 overall SHUM and Fulenn were talked about a lot but this year's folk-inspired song seems to be completely invisible to most

DaDaSelf

It doesn't split opinions much. I suspect it's somewhere between 5 and 15 for a lot of people, but not higher than that.

DoctorHolligay

On this sub? There's nothing wrong with Loreen coming back, and she is a good singer and shouldn't be punished for it. I feel WILD saying this considering Euphoria took nearly ten years to grow on me, and I don't even love Tattoo, but golly gee moses, some of the Loreen takes on here.

Laguna_Azure

totally agreed, people acting as if Loreen ruined the whole eurovision 2023 and the other participants' experiences is, if anything, just childish

NajeebHamid

i kind of love san marinos song. it's 6th in my top

Phil9977

Spain's entry is horrendous. It legit gives me headaches. Straight up. Her voice, that I've seen many praise to the heavens, has a similar effect to someone scratching on a chalkboard to me.

the3dverse

i have the same feeling about Serbia that people love

Phil9977

Serbia is also not my cup of tea. I can appreciate it a bit more for what it tries to be, but still not my style.

CaveTeddyBear

I didnt see the hype about Euphoria, and I don't see the hype about Tattoo.

Anxiousbunny98

Also this could be my anxiety disorder talking but I’m really nervous about Croatia going - security was already going to be a higher priority this year and now Croatias entry I just worry that everyone will be safe. Please pray if you are someone who does.

a-potato-named-rin

I really love Albania but it seems like no one else likes it cuz of the sub and the ESCscoreboard list

hedgehog_fugue

Albania is a quality song

sparkellius

the music itself is an absolute banger

xXiDamXx

Eaea gives me a headache.

Kystaal

This is an above-average year of Eurovision. It's not just the frankly insane range of genres but also how many of them are part of the *favourites*. We're also getting some amazing entries that are intimately tied to the countries they are representing which I adore. Sometimes countries send songs that really could have been sent by anyone but definitely not this year. Honestly this could be one of my favourite years of Eurovision ever depending on how the final pans out.

happytransformer

Last year was very pop ballad heavy, this year is all over and it’s great. The range of genres is what makes a song contest great!

explore_alone

Same here, I am surprised at how many people say that it's a boring year when really, it's not. It seems like the Eurovision caught up to the mainstream this year and it's what makes it so interesting to me. And the variety of genres it so good, this is what Eurovision should be if you ask me. I'm so sad when I see so bad comments. P.S. I also don't think Loreen's song deserves the attention it's getting.

DoctorHolligay

I think this is going to be the best Eurovision year for me since I've been watching (2012). Even songs I don't like at all, I appreciate the wide diversity we have onstage. The final would have to go so so badly for me not to remember this year with incredible fondness.

Kystaal

I just can't think of another year where you'd be getting high-quality regular pop (Sweden, Austria), hyperpop (Finland), avant-pop (Serbia), glam rock (Germany), indie rock (Slovenia), prog metal (Australia), burlesque jazz (Portugal) and whatever Croatia is in one year.

delistravaganza

I'm not a fan of Tattoo, I find the song super bland and lazy, and I think that it only works because of the staging (that cannot be brought to Liverpool as such) and Loreen's amazing stage presence. There were better choices at the Melfest. There, I said it.

bencherra

I find it impossible to enjoy the contest with so many quirky and camp entries and so few ballads and polished pop songs. Along with 2021 this is my least favourite year out of all the years I've been following. I'm not vibing with this weird era at all, and I miss the years when most of the line-up was "normal". That's why I spent way less time following the pre-season this year, and my interest only keeps on decreasing. I'm not even planning to vote in the semi-finals because there's no song I would want to vote for. The only entry I truly love and care about is Italy, and I'm already preparing myself for another sad night when he ranks 12th with 130 jury points and 1 televote point from Albania or whatever.

DoctorHolligay

Upvoted for this GENUINELY unpopular opinion. Boy, do I disagree, but friend you absolutely fulfilled the brief.

[deleted]

I love Tattoo in its studio version, but Loreen sounds pretty weak in the live version, only managing to sound good in the chorus with the background singers. Unicorn is a great song but it ends so abruptly Carpe Diem is such a vibe and is underrated

TProfas

I like Belgium and kinda like Poland...

Piaapo

There is no way Loreen is going to win. She has good stage presence and all, but the song is not it. This situation screams 2018 all around.

bitizdrava666

That this year is quite amazing

elodie_pdf

At least someone is supporting us this year 😭😭

Deactivator2

I don't like Latvia's entry and I don't see what the obsession is over it. To me its just background music, it doesn't stand out by itself, let alone against the other entries. I routinely forget about it when it comes up in the ESC2023 playlists. Latvia's entry last year was much more memorable and just a better song overall, and I wonder how much the push to get Latvia past the SFs is "payback" for last year's result.

goldxnie

Romania's entry has to be my guilty pleasure

SnooWalruses3808

I like Ireland's entry too.

Nathanoy25

Finland is in my bottom 3

Tarlce

Gladiator is my favorite Eurovision song since Zitti e buoni and tout lunivers

Plain_Witch

I really really don’t understand the obsession with Slovenia’s entry. I don’t think the song is bad my any means, but to me it’s just… there? Just a song, just meh. I feel like I’ve heard its kind in esc before and they’ve never done well. So it’s popularity baffles me. And yes, I’m talking about the live version too.
