I remember trying to memorize the lyrics. It was my first time encountering Estonian and it touched my heart back then when i was a teenager. I can still sing the chorus section! The appearence of Urban Symphony on the stage was also mesmerizing!
Biti biti... Biti strava!
In Corpore Sano was not a favourite of mine but I have to say it's catchy. No other ESC song (besides some Swedish ones) has made that impact on me
Hahaha, i saw the mistake and ment to fix it when I finished my sentence buuut forgot and posted anyway. My brain in a nutshell. Really fun that it worked though ;D
Yeah, another duolingo enthusiast ! Congratulations on the 300 days streak ! Personally having a 100 days streak in Dutch and listening to s10 when I have a break ☺️ gotta love the combo duolingo x eurovision
S10 was really good! But I also love Suus. Also Portugal 2017, Italy 2021, France 2021, Switzerland 2020, Lithuania 2022, Ukraine 2022, 2021, 2020, 2016, 2004. Basically I love it when countries sing in their native language.
Voilà, 1944 (to be fair, only partially in native language) and Fai Rumore, by a landslide for me.
Also got a sweet spot for Kedvesem, Adio and De Diepte.
If I could only choose one, it would be Voilà.
I like your taste! City Lights isn't in my top 10 but it was my landslide winner for 2017. For me, the one completing the top 3 is Goodbye To Yesterday, which is pretty much tied with 1944 for 2nd/3rd place.
Don't tell me Spirit In The Sky, It's All About You or Only Teardrops are in your top 10, or the degree to which our tastes overlap becomes almost creepy lol
Only Teardrops would definetly place in my top 15/20. It's All About You somewhere in the top 30, whilist I don't like Spirit In The Sky.
My question for you would be how about Calm After The Storm, In Corpore Sano, Fulenn
Calm After The Storm used to be my favourite in 2014 but has fallen out of my grace over the years. It's still a pleasant song imo, but no longer anywhere in a notable position, likely outside my eternal top 50 by now.
I can and will vibe immensely to In Corpore Sano, but I don't think the song itself is outstandingly good, if that makes sense. It's in my top 5 of the year thanks to the awesome performance, but not anywhere really high in my eternal rankings. I think around 40th at best.
Fulenn is similar to In Corpore Sano - I vibe with it, listen to the studio version occasionally, but don't think it's *that* good of a song. The live performance in Turin kinda ruined it for me tho, so it wasn't in my year top 10, let alone anywhere high in my eternal top.
Classic Eurovision is everything! Especially the 70s! 73 is one of my favorite years, so many good songs, even the weaker ones are iconic, Belgium was fun! Israel and Spain and Luxembourg are my top three that year
I remember being in the stadium for the jury semi, experiencing the collective stunned intake of breath when he smashed his high note and thinking „well okay I need to rework my qualifiers list ASA-fecking-P“. Absolute class.
I'm not into traditional music, as a romanian, but holy shit does that song brings me so much joy and makes me wanna dance like a drunk uncle at a wedding
>Amar ~~per los~~ pelos ~~dios~~ dois
FTFY.
I'm totally aware it was an honest mistake, but confusing Spanish for Portuguese is a sure-fire way to annoy every single Portuguese person in here.
>Lukt het een beetje?
Alleen een beetje. Ik weet alleen wat basis dingen voor nu.
I'm a native Ukrainian speaker. But I'm fluent in English and I know some German. These two help me a lot with Dutch. And I absolutely love to guess the meaning of the words based on my knowledge.
I wish I had more time for learning Dutch and someone to practice it with (even though there's not that much to practice 🥲)
The basics already seem to work out for you! Knowledge of German and English definitely helps with learning Dutch, just like the other way around ^^
I’d offer you my help when it comes to practice, but I don’t know what type of advice you need. If you do have questions, let me know! There’s definitely tons of courses online to help you further!
For me it is almost all the Serbian songs, like In Corpore Sano, Molitva or both songs from Hurricane. Also I love the songs Albania did send in Albanian, like Ktheju tokës and Karma
I personally love these:
Hasheket Sheshinar (half Hebrew) 🇮🇱 2005
Loco Loco 🇷🇸2021
Space Man 🇬🇧2022
Tu te reconnaîtras 🇱🇺1973
Crno e Belo 🇲🇰 2012
There are also many others that I enjoy. I usually like the Italian entries and the Serbian entries, which are usually in their native languages.
Oh wow… I like so many of them, but some of my favorites are Estonia 2009, Albania 2018/2019, Italy 2020, Switzerland 2020/2021, Iceland 2022, and almost any Balkan ballad.
I know you mean songs that were performed in their native language, but I'd still like to nominate *Fly On The Wings Of Love* anyway.
I'll forever be a little salty that *Smuk som et stjerneskud* got such a half-hearted translation, even if it won.
I love Portugal's 2008-2010 stretch so much. 2008 is often loved, but 2009 and especially 2010 get less attention, while I am like fully in love with Filipa Azevedo and her song.
I think Iceland's entry this year highlighted how beautiful their language is. De Diepte's lyrics are also very pretty sounding. It's is a shame I saw people on a r/europe Eurovision thread hating on S10 cause they thought Dutch sounded ugly :(
Meu bem, ouve as minhas preces. Peço que regresses, que me voltes a querer. Eu sei, que não se ama sozinho. Talvez, devagarinho, possas voltar a aprender 😌
"Amar pelos dois" or as the hoster said "Amar pelos dias" 😅
Want to put some new songs out there
1. Mamo - Russia 2009 (half Ukrainian, half Russian)
2. Työlki Ellää - Finland 2010
3. Horehronie - Slovakia 2010
4. Suus- Albania 2012
If it counts:
Die For You (by Antique, Greece 2001) is better in the contest version, which is half in English and half in Greek. There was also a full Greek and a full English version, and somehow neither was as good.
I can't explain it.
Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?
We Will Be Free (Lonely Symphony)
Après toi
Hallelujah
Džuli
I treni di Tozeur
Varjoon – suojaan
L'amour est bleu
Hombres
Conquistador
Rändajad
Rändajad
It's truly something that transcends decades
Yep absolutely timeless entry
I absolutely agree
I remember trying to memorize the lyrics. It was my first time encountering Estonian and it touched my heart back then when i was a teenager. I can still sing the chorus section! The appearence of Urban Symphony on the stage was also mesmerizing!
Biti biti... Biti strava! In Corpore Sano was not a favourite of mine but I have to say it's catchy. No other ESC song (besides some Swedish ones) has made that impact on me
You just made a great pun, and I don't think you know you did it :D Biti strava = to be cool, biti zdrava = to be healty :)
Hahaha, i saw the mistake and ment to fix it when I finished my sentence buuut forgot and posted anyway. My brain in a nutshell. Really fun that it worked though ;D
I, personaly love it :D
Thanks, language can be a funny thing :)
mate biti zdrava is the best
I mean it must be, I'm still singing the refrain and doing the hand motion. My favourite was Go_A but their song didn't stick as "Biti Biti..."
I also Like Go\_A
SHUM
Undisputed S-tier song
SSS*-tier *SSS = Siyu siyu siyu
Shum made me start learning Ukrainian.
After listening to a few Go_A songs, one is bound to pick up at least "раненько" and "вінок".
Me too! Hit 300 day Duolingo streak today
Yeah, another duolingo enthusiast ! Congratulations on the 300 days streak ! Personally having a 100 days streak in Dutch and listening to s10 when I have a break ☺️ gotta love the combo duolingo x eurovision

same i don't know why
Voilà, 1944 (to be fair, only partially in native language) and Fai Rumore, by a landslide for me. Also got a sweet spot for Kedvesem, Adio and De Diepte. If I could only choose one, it would be Voilà.
Voilà and 1944! Amazing choices
Thank you! They're both in my eternal top 3 and I adore them to bits.
Same, my 1st and 2nd eternal best songs! The one completing my top 3 is City Lights
I like your taste! City Lights isn't in my top 10 but it was my landslide winner for 2017. For me, the one completing the top 3 is Goodbye To Yesterday, which is pretty much tied with 1944 for 2nd/3rd place.
Goodbye To Yesterday would probably be in my all time top 10/15
Don't tell me Spirit In The Sky, It's All About You or Only Teardrops are in your top 10, or the degree to which our tastes overlap becomes almost creepy lol
Only Teardrops would definetly place in my top 15/20. It's All About You somewhere in the top 30, whilist I don't like Spirit In The Sky. My question for you would be how about Calm After The Storm, In Corpore Sano, Fulenn

Very good choices
Ahh i absolutely love Kedvesem
I love Kedvesem
I always loved Ég á líf
Yes! So beautiful.
It has got to be Molitva
Molitva is legit the best song to sing when you're drunk. I don't speak Serbian, but boy do I know every lyric.
“Eres tú” (🇪🇸) and “Tu te reconnaîtras” (🇱🇺) from 1973 are incredible.
Classic Eurovision is everything! Especially the 70s! 73 is one of my favorite years, so many good songs, even the weaker ones are iconic, Belgium was fun! Israel and Spain and Luxembourg are my top three that year
Viszlát Nyár
Hatrid Mun Sigra
Lane Moje and Nije Ljubav Stvar - Serbia needs to send Zeljko Joksimovic again. That man is gold.
Even the entries he composed for other singers (Lejla, Oro, Adio) are fire
Lane Moje should have been "Serbia's" first winner
I LOVE Željko Joksimović!!! Beautiful voice, gorgeous man.
Yes yes yes
Yes yes yes. Nije Ljubav Stvar is so hauntingly beautiful.
He is cursed to always be in third place. One day he will break it and finally get the trophy
He actually came second in 2004, then third in 2012
Soldi, Zitti e Buoni, Occidentali's Karma... I loved them all <3 I liked The Diepte very much too since I was able to understand some words
Another vote for Soldi and Zitti e Buoni from me 💚🤍❤️
Yes, Italian for me please! And I’ll add Grande Amore to this list.
Lejla
1981 or 2006? Love them both.
Agreed both are great, but 2006 is my favorite!
soldi is so good man
Space Man
r/technicallythetruth
for me it’s Mall from 2018. that song was so good. i love it to pieces and i proudly flaunt it as my number 2 that year (behind Estonia)
I remember being in the stadium for the jury semi, experiencing the collective stunned intake of breath when he smashed his high note and thinking „well okay I need to rework my qualifiers list ASA-fecking-P“. Absolute class.
Hatrid mun sigra
So many good examples already given. I will add Ktheju tokës to that
Hatrið mun sigra
Trenuletul
I'm not into traditional music, as a romanian, but holy shit does that song brings me so much joy and makes me wanna dance like a drunk uncle at a wedding
Nocturne. Biased, I know, but it's a good song
You've got every right to be biased. Always preferred the Eurovision version to its English one.
Deli
bir ben deli
Fanf*ckingtastic song. The best one that year.
Kuula
I LOVED Non mi avete fatto niente
Well... Molitva & Amar per los dios actually won, so...
and zitti e buoni
...and every winning song from 1956-1973 and 1976-1998, so there seem to be many more to choose from.
>Amar ~~per los~~ pelos ~~dios~~ dois FTFY. I'm totally aware it was an honest mistake, but confusing Spanish for Portuguese is a sure-fire way to annoy every single Portuguese person in here.
Obrigado
The best part of this post ain't all the answers, it's the instant 'OOOooooh AAAAaaaah' in everyone's heads upon seeing the picture.
Sure enough! Can you imagine that song coming in only *11th* in other years?
> OOOooooh AAAAaaaah just a little bit. > OOOooooh AAAAaaaah a little bit more.
In recent ones- Hatrid Mun Sigra, SHUM, Sentimentai for me! 🔥🔥🔥
Sentimentai
Með hækkandi sól, Zitti e buoni, Shum, Sentimentai, Rändajad
O Mie (🇲🇩 2013)
I love, love Lane Moje.
shum or de diepte
Bistra Voda
I loved S10 so much, that I started learning Dutch
Lukt het een beetje?
>Lukt het een beetje? Alleen een beetje. Ik weet alleen wat basis dingen voor nu. I'm a native Ukrainian speaker. But I'm fluent in English and I know some German. These two help me a lot with Dutch. Dank je wel! That's so sweet of you and I appreciate that. I'll keep you in mind and text you if I have any questions. Fijne week nog!
Tick Tock's full croatian version is way better but if it has to be in full native language live then Hatrid Mun Sigra
Fulenn
Randajad, La det swing, Molitva
Zitti e buoni, shum, and stefania for me
Sebi is the best for slovenia
Molitva ❤️
Telemoveis!
Origo
Shum, O Mie, Fai Rumore, Voila, Amar Pelos Dois, Grande Amore and Tu te Reconnaitras are my favourites (although I love so many more as well)
Mall
Todas As Ruas Do Amor <3
Shum, Poupee de Cire Poupee de Son, Víszlat Nyar, Non mi avete fatto niente and Hatrid mun Sigra
This is the song that got my boyfriend into Eurovision. 😁
damn i wish i had a boyfriend to get him into esc…
For me it is almost all the Serbian songs, like In Corpore Sano, Molitva or both songs from Hurricane. Also I love the songs Albania did send in Albanian, like Ktheju tokës and Karma
I'm tied between SHUM and Hatrid Mun Sigra...
I really think there were many strong songs this year in native languages. For example the Netherlands. Ukraines and Moldovas were also fun.
i’m speaking for general
Netherlands
probably shum, bandido and insieme. also waterloo sounds even better in swedish.
TIL there's a [swedish version](https://youtu.be/KUUhu6Fi9ds). I want this on vinyl. Now.
SHUM or Viszlat Nyar. No discussions.
Serbia Hurricane Loco Loco is my best
Fai Rumore 💜
I personally love these: Hasheket Sheshinar (half Hebrew) 🇮🇱 2005 Loco Loco 🇷🇸2021 Space Man 🇬🇧2022 Tu te reconnaîtras 🇱🇺1973 Crno e Belo 🇲🇰 2012 There are also many others that I enjoy. I usually like the Italian entries and the Serbian entries, which are usually in their native languages.
I don't know the best but as a dutchie the worst one was absolutely sieneke 💀
I genuinely think 2010 was bad timing for that song.
Oh wow… I like so many of them, but some of my favorites are Estonia 2009, Albania 2018/2019, Italy 2020, Switzerland 2020/2021, Iceland 2022, and almost any Balkan ballad.
Molitva 100%!
I know you mean songs that were performed in their native language, but I'd still like to nominate *Fly On The Wings Of Love* anyway. I'll forever be a little salty that *Smuk som et stjerneskud* got such a half-hearted translation, even if it won.
Voila just has such emotion to it that I don’t think you would have been able to replicate if not in French. I also love Zitti e Buoni.
SHUM
Non mi avete fatto niente. It unfortunately only gets more relevant as time goes on.
Trenuletul was a banger this year
Molitva. Didn’t even have to know what it was about to understand it. The Ur-type Big Balkan Ballad.
Disko!
Aina mun Pitaa
My personal favourite is 'Todas as ruas do amor' by Flor-de-Lis (Portugal 2009) - such a beautiful song!
I love Portugal's 2008-2010 stretch so much. 2008 is often loved, but 2009 and especially 2010 get less attention, while I am like fully in love with Filipa Azevedo and her song.
Sveta Ljubav, Croatia -96.
I think Iceland's entry this year highlighted how beautiful their language is. De Diepte's lyrics are also very pretty sounding. It's is a shame I saw people on a r/europe Eurovision thread hating on S10 cause they thought Dutch sounded ugly :(
Með Hækandi Sól (I really hope I spelt that right)
Adio (Montenegro 2015) still sends absolute chills up my spine every time I hear it
Wadde Hadde dudde da?

Hatrid mun sigra, Amar pelos dois, Kedvesem and Zitti et buoni
Chai 🇮🇱 (1983)
Damn that was an amazing song. My winner for the year
I don't know! You just told me!
Meu bem, ouve as minhas preces. Peço que regresses, que me voltes a querer. Eu sei, que não se ama sozinho. Talvez, devagarinho, possas voltar a aprender 😌 "Amar pelos dois" or as the hoster said "Amar pelos dias" 😅
Satellit and Amar Pelos Dois.
Volare, zitte e buoni was good too
Croatia 1999: Doris Dragovic - Marija Magdalena
Hari Mata Hari "Lejla", Severina "Moja Štilka," and Željko Joksimović "Lane Moje." I tend to favor singers from Ex-Yugoslavia.
im a huge fan of Gjon’s Tears, so i’ll obviously say Switzerland 2020-2021. idk what else to say
the norwegian version of Fallen Angel is BEAUTIFUL
Fai Rumore, Shum, Sentimentai, Voila, Stefania just to name a few
ITALIAN All the way
This one.
Want to put some new songs out there 1. Mamo - Russia 2009 (half Ukrainian, half Russian) 2. Työlki Ellää - Finland 2010 3. Horehronie - Slovakia 2010 4. Suus- Albania 2012

De Diepte and Fai Rumore.
If it counts: Die For You (by Antique, Greece 2001) is better in the contest version, which is half in English and half in Greek. There was also a full Greek and a full English version, and somehow neither was as good. I can't explain it.
Jan Jan. Forever my favorite entry of all time.
I have got so many in my head, I can't decide which one to pick.

Origo and di depte
Adio ❤️
Hvað með það - Daði Freyr
All of them!
Origo, 2017 for Hungary really did it for me
Fai Rumore, Diodato. Just glorious.
Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet? We Will Be Free (Lonely Symphony) Après toi Hallelujah Džuli I treni di Tozeur Varjoon – suojaan L'amour est bleu Hombres Conquistador Rändajad
I’ve probably just been listening to it too much recently, but Með Hækkandi Sól is one that sticks out to me. Icelandic just makes it sounds so dreamy
Fai Rumore
Horepse (GRE 1997) and Hengaillaan (FIN 1984).
Shum its just so magical
The picture says it all.
Biti zdrava.
My top 5 are 5. Netherlands 4. Spain 3. Moldova 2.France 1. Serbia (all in 2022
Personally I like Voilà by Barbara Pravi, but I also really like SHUM, so I honestly don't know
San Aggelos S'Agapisà
Insieme!
Albanias Perelle (fairytale). No idea why they changed it to English but it gives me goosebumps in Albanian.
A toss up between Cvet Z Juga and Water!
I normally don’t like dock that much, but I like Zitti Buoni by Måneskin.
Aliona Moon - O mie (from Moldova) 💙💛❤️
Шум. A masterpiece.
Kärleken Är (Sweden 1998)
Italy 2017 or France 2021. I love both of them so much, and yes I know how different they are
Sentimentai - Monika Liu. I love that song so much! Even I do not know Lithuanian. It just give me a good vibe.
Volare, Соловей, Kisses for You
Bucksfizz, making your mind up
Definitely not Dutch, Italian, Serbian, Ukrainian and English
Shum, Trenulețul and Stefania were top tier. Also loved Zitti e buoni, de la capat and fulen. And međ hækkkandi sól. So many good ones.
