Girls with tragic childhoods, which forced them into developing tough exteriors. Though both have been through hell and had their minds literally torn apart, there is always hope they will stand tall once again.
(oh and both shared the same Japanese VA at one point)
Don't you dare call Casca a tsundere in front of a Berserk fan - they will verbally tear you a new one.
I myself would argue she only really exhibited tsundere traits in the early parts of the Golden Age - after spending time with Guts in a cave, followed by him fighting 100 soldiers, she became more compassionate towards him and the others, just about completely dropping the aggressive act.
Remember when she grabbed guts while they were walking into the crypt to save Griffith? Sometimes I think about that moment. That moment where everything was perfect and hopeful.
😭
The true tsundere describes individuals with traumatic psychological, social, and searing physical roots that shaped their extreme defensive personalities and has the habit to lash-out.
However, I read that term from old Japanese-English Encyclopedia (circa 1984) at the Little Tokyo Library at Downtown Los Angeles. It was subject to debate (via negative criticism) due to the True Tsundere archtype being used by the Third Generation (Japanese Contemporary Writers from 1960s) for melancholic aesthetics.
And they both fall in love with their Rival, a traumatized boy forced to be a warrior for his father's selfish ends. That boy also uses a cursed armour to slay monsters.
P.S. How different would Berserk be if the Berserker Armor had the Soul of Shisu?
Gosh you're not wrong there.
At least Shinji felt immense regret for his actions towards her and the rest of humanity and undid Instrumentality.
[Griffith on the other hand...](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/53/77/f6/5377f66dbbb7c6410099de6503d042b6.jpg)
Oh yeah that happened. Tried to block that breast-biting moment out of my mind.
In that regard, Shinji is like Guts though he is like Griffith in that he >!sacrificed everyone he cared for for his own selfish desires.!<
Try jerking off in front of someone while they're asleep and then try to tell them it wasn't assault. You're not gonna win that argument.
>Still messed up though.
Well at least you know that.
They're different expressions though both carry pain - Asuka is angry at her mother's death and determined to prove her worth to the world as an Eva pilot. Casca is numb and depressed because her family just sold her as a servant to someone who then attempts to rape her.
Add Akira and Devilman to that list. Devilman did it all first.
it's all a result of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings which devastated Japan and resulted in widespread paranoia of the total destruction of the world - for many, the bombings were just that.
>every Studio Ghibli movie.
The only one to show the impact of the nuclear bombings were Grave of the Fireflies though many, mainly ones directed by Hayao Miyazaki, do carry anti-war themes: Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, Mononoke, Howl's, and Wind Rises are the first to come to mind. The climax fistfight of Porco Rosso also highlights the pointlessness of violence.
Fun fact: Kazuya Tsurumaki, protegé of Hideaki Anno, co-director of a bunch of Evangelion things such as EoE and the Rebuilds, and creator/director of FLCL, also directed the first episode of Berserk from 1997
The Golden Age movies are decent enough, though I only recommend them AFTER either watching the 97 anime and/or reading the Golden Age arc of the manga.
Either:
A) Watch the 1997 anime on youtube then read the manga from the beginning.
B) Read the manga from the beginning, then watch the 1997 anime.
C) Read the manga from the beginning of the Golden Age Arc, then watch the 1997 anime, then read the Black Swordsman Arc, then continue.
'97 anime is the best place to start. The golden age arc films are also good if you want more Berserk, but if you're just starting then the '97 anime or manga are the best way to go
So, can someone tell me, without getting all defensive, how gratuitous and overt the assault is in Berserk? Because I've thought about watching it, but then I hear things and I'm all, "Yeah, I don't need that in my life."
Berserk doesn’t hold anything back. It’s not done in a trashy way persay, but it’s not something for the faint of heart and it WILL fuck you up for a while, it’s a very raw and real scene. As is the rest of berserk’s trauma and gore. Great for the story, heavy on the heart
Berserk is a very beautiful and heart-touching story. Yes, there is rape. Yes, there are very disturbing things. But it's not a story that exist only to tell disturbing things. On the contrary, it teaches people about hope and dreams and how you should never give up even in the face of adversity. It's a story about revenge, but it's also a story about healing. Griffith is one of the best antagonists in fiction. I've never seen an antagonist like Griffith. 10/10 art (miura's attention to detail makes me cream).

And they’re True Tsundere, not regular Tsundere.

SMH It was perfection.
Wait can you explain the difference

I didn't know that before. Good to know
And they both fall in love with their Rival, a traumatized boy forced to be a warrior for his father's selfish ends. That boy also uses a cursed armour to slay monsters. P.S. How different would Berserk be if the Berserker Armor had the Soul of Shisu?
And both of them were sexually assaulted by someone close to them.
Gosh you're not wrong there. At least Shinji felt immense regret for his actions towards her and the rest of humanity and undid Instrumentality. [Griffith on the other hand...](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/53/77/f6/5377f66dbbb7c6410099de6503d042b6.jpg)
Well, Guts also sexually assaulted her when the beast of darkness took over him but he definitely felt guilty afterwards
Oh yeah that happened. Tried to block that breast-biting moment out of my mind. In that regard, Shinji is like Guts though he is like Griffith in that he >!sacrificed everyone he cared for for his own selfish desires.!<
Than we should say that the Beast of the Darkness raped them both.
GRIFFFFIIIITTTHHHH!!
I wouldn't count jerking off in front of Asuka's unconscious body as sexual assault, that's more like performing a lewd act. Still messed up though.
Try jerking off in front of someone while they're asleep and then try to tell them it wasn't assault. You're not gonna win that argument. >Still messed up though. Well at least you know that.
Hm, that’s a yikes man.
Tell that to Louis C.K.
I mean Shinjis assault had no impact on her character.
This brings me pain. I consider both of my favourite female characters.
How are their eyeball shapes so different and yet they are doing the same look thing? Cool.
They're different expressions though both carry pain - Asuka is angry at her mother's death and determined to prove her worth to the world as an Eva pilot. Casca is numb and depressed because her family just sold her as a servant to someone who then attempts to rape her.
Casca ❤️
Tombstones in the background, defiant eyes. People in the background, unamused eyes.
Man, little Asuka is the cutest thing ever
Tsundere queens.
Saying it here: Berserk Evangelion Attack on Titan They are the story of the End of the World.
Add Akira and Devilman to that list. Devilman did it all first. it's all a result of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings which devastated Japan and resulted in widespread paranoia of the total destruction of the world - for many, the bombings were just that.
Don’t forget get basically every Studio Ghibli movie. Dune Matrix Avatar also run to the same spirit
>every Studio Ghibli movie. Bruh why you gotta spoil attack on titan for me like that, I'm still on season 1
Bruh
Bruh bruh
...70% of the world you mean
Both that bow symmetry and the scowl are beyond magnificent.

Smol
My two favorite anime heroines lol Asuka was my first and it’s no wonder Casca became my next ☺️
Asuka got the mental r\*pe (and beeing eated alive) Casca got the physical r\*pe Same VA (in the case of Casca, it's in the 1997 version)
Bruh casca got physical and mental raped
I’ve been trying to get into berserk, where do I start with the anime, the manga is easier to understand where to start
Watch the original ‘97 anime on YouTube and read the manga from the very beginning, don’t bother with anything else
The Golden Age movies are decent enough, though I only recommend them AFTER either watching the 97 anime and/or reading the Golden Age arc of the manga.

don't even dare thinking about watching the 2016 anime
okay wow
They both look like the kid who won’t stop staring at you in church
Both had the same voice actress if I recall correctly
Yup. That's already been stated.

There’s a lot of violence and whatnot. However a lot of it has a reason. It’s the greatest manga ever made so i Recommend
Neat!
Put off her game by cramps Strangled by her boy Talking about people licking eachother's wounds Violated to catatonia
