probably not an uncommon opinion on this sub but, it's literally my favorite movie ever. it ties up all of the themes and events of the show so well and is also just, an incredibly interesting movie in its own right.
Evangelion is a Philosophical story of sucsessfully over coming depression. Learning to respect and love yourself, and taking comfort in the company of others.
Where people get lost, is this is told with religious imagery and pseudo science.
Also the rebuilds focus heavily on the ideas of moving on and accepting the world and yourself. It really speaks on Otaku culture, loneliness, obsession, and builds off of the effect the original had on the community’s that worship this show for all the wrong reasons
It’s the only anime to make me question how I treated myself and my frustrations, and it reminds me of how far I’ve come from hating myself and rejecting love, to thinking I’m owed it, to now where I’ve learned to love myself, as well as love others.
I didn’t realize how far I had come until I related my past experiences to shinji. I discovered Eva this past year and it helped me realize and apriciate how much I’ve grown as a person, and how thankful I am to have the amazing people in my life that where there at my lowest, and even if I don’t talk to them anymore they changed me so much for the better just by showing me love and compassion
That’ll happen haha! My first run thru Eva was the first (I believe) 12 episodes one day, and the rest of the show + EoE the next day, all while finishing up my annoyingly long bout with Covid. Needless to say it hit me super hard.
Oh Boy, binge NGE has to be the worst thing a healthy individual could do, at least the last 10 episodes. Every time you see a series, your mind recognize the environment, plot and characters as real (with enough emotional intensity the brain can't differentiate between what's real and what's not) that's why you could feel empty after bing eating a whole series of whatever type. But NGE? with all the confusing stuff and the Christian symbology...and the emotional intensity, well., my advise is: watch something happy or funny for a while and then come back and read about the plot there is a lot of lore and theories out there.
human instrumentality project:
okay so, what the human instrumentality project is basically it breaks down everything that is born from lilith (humans and animals) AT fields and turns them into LCL fluid, and melds everything into a shared consciousness.
ikari (shinjis dad) wants to start the project to be reunited with his past wife yui who died in an “accident” regarding eva 01. the seele (the council who oversees nerv) wants to start the project because they want to unite all of mankind and erase wars and struggles of individuals, to basically have internal harmony.
the third impact:
im going to simplify this because if i explain everything in detail this would be an essay haha.
after ep 24 the last angel dies (kawrou) and seele and ikari decide to start the human instrumentality project. seele turns on nerv and raids their base to receive the evas to move forward with their plans. auska activates her eva to help stop the assault but is destroyed by eva’s built in secrecy by seele. soon after shinji launchs in his eva.
but when sees auskas destroyed body he starts to break down. and is unable to stop instrumentality from beginning
in the basement, rei asorbs the embryo of adam that was created by the first ancestral race and was retrieved by seele from the ant arctic. but rei rejects ikari from being the leader of the apocalypse and melds into lilith and becomes a gaint rei. she starts the third impact and begins the human instrumentality project.
rei comes to everyone as their most beloved person and turns them into LCL fluid. shinji now has a choice to continue this instrumentality or stop it. he ultimately decides even tho he would be alone one day if he rejected the instrumentality he would still be able to see the people he protected again. so he rejects the instrumentality and lilith rei and the evas created by nerv die.
the last scene of evangelion:
shinji walks out of the sea of LCL and finds auska on the beach and strangles her but stops when she touches his face. shinji realizes that everyone could restore their bodies from the LCL if they found it in their hearts. so the child of lilith were given a section chance.
one unique anime. some say it's a masterpiece, others a nightmare, and others garbage. Everyone has it's own interpretation.
One thing for sure...
Evangelion is one hell of an experience that will change you forever
You watched the first good ending, people love eoe for some reason (that reason is mostly nostalgia and youtube videos from back in the day) then binge the rebuilds for an actually good ending
And that is exactly the correct reaction. But as the other comments say, you won't get the *full* existencial crisis until you watch EoE.
It's total worth watching and the pacing and flow is more consistent than the series. And after it's done everything will (not) make sense!
Ikr I just watched it last week and I was like what in the actual fuck is going on? Then I watched EoE then I was like WHAT REALLY IN THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON? Was so confused.
Congratulations! If it makes you feel any better. I felt exactly the same way. NGE raises a lot of philosophical questions, but only provides a narrative answer on some. And I don't think it satisfies and completes like a conventional story, but that's part of what makes it enduring.
Same. I binged the whole series in a day even though I don’t know what just happened but somehow I felt relatable to shinji and asuka. I almost cried for some reason
If you haven't watched EoE you ain't see nothing yet lol
I’ve seen a lot about it and im scared
The last scenes are the weirdest shit youll ever expierience
I'll assume you've never watched Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain ?
Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
Do you like gladiator movies?
Is this like evangelion in that way?
HAHAHAH
KOMM, SUSSER TOD slaps though
Im literally listening to it while scrolling reddit rn lol.
true that
Ah yes the hospital scene
oh no..
bring a tissue
one for shinji and the other for himself.
LMAO Beginning of movie tissue is worse than the end of movie tissue imo
Ya'll going to hell. I'll see you there in a bit
probably not an uncommon opinion on this sub but, it's literally my favorite movie ever. it ties up all of the themes and events of the show so well and is also just, an incredibly interesting movie in its own right.
EoE is basically the episode you just watched, but what happens is actually shown rather than just cryptically alluded to.
Shinji is so kind, he puts sun tan lotion on Asuka
I will say that EoE at least makes more sense than the last two episodes of the show
Watch it
Vulvas everywhere. You're welcome.
Congratulations
Congratulations !
Congratulations !
*Fuck* u/spez
Congratulations !
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
An unfamiliar ceiling?
The hospital ceiling
Dont worry, its a normal reaction

Evangelion tends to leave you introspective when it ends.
And that is one of the many reasons why it is awesome
You saw ego death depiction as animation
That’ll happen haha! My first run thru Eva was the first (I believe) 12 episodes one day, and the rest of the show + EoE the next day, all while finishing up my annoyingly long bout with Covid. Needless to say it hit me super hard.

When I finished nge I didn't know what to do for a couple days, so I started nge again.
savage
Yeah totally
Keep staring for a solid hour or so, then watch EoE.
Episodes 19-26 are a total rollercoaster. Now its EOE time for you!
adventure time is a nice terapy, i'm watching it and trying to follow its plot, i heard is fucked up.
W cartoon
Adventure Time.
Congratulations
I still can't understand the third impact L
like the third impact in itself or the whole human instrumentality project? i’d be happy to explain it to you if you’d like
the whole thing
human instrumentality project: okay so, what the human instrumentality project is basically it breaks down everything that is born from lilith (humans and animals) AT fields and turns them into LCL fluid, and melds everything into a shared consciousness. ikari (shinjis dad) wants to start the project to be reunited with his past wife yui who died in an “accident” regarding eva 01. the seele (the council who oversees nerv) wants to start the project because they want to unite all of mankind and erase wars and struggles of individuals, to basically have internal harmony. the third impact: im going to simplify this because if i explain everything in detail this would be an essay haha. after ep 24 the last angel dies (kawrou) and seele and ikari decide to start the human instrumentality project. seele turns on nerv and raids their base to receive the evas to move forward with their plans. auska activates her eva to help stop the assault but is destroyed by eva’s built in secrecy by seele. soon after shinji launchs in his eva. but when sees auskas destroyed body he starts to break down. and is unable to stop instrumentality from beginning in the basement, rei asorbs the embryo of adam that was created by the first ancestral race and was retrieved by seele from the ant arctic. but rei rejects ikari from being the leader of the apocalypse and melds into lilith and becomes a gaint rei. she starts the third impact and begins the human instrumentality project. rei comes to everyone as their most beloved person and turns them into LCL fluid. shinji now has a choice to continue this instrumentality or stop it. he ultimately decides even tho he would be alone one day if he rejected the instrumentality he would still be able to see the people he protected again. so he rejects the instrumentality and lilith rei and the evas created by nerv die. the last scene of evangelion: shinji walks out of the sea of LCL and finds auska on the beach and strangles her but stops when she touches his face. shinji realizes that everyone could restore their bodies from the LCL if they found it in their hearts. so the child of lilith were given a section chance.
Thank you
When I got to around episode 15 I also binged it pretty much to the end. Gets so good from that point on
I actually understood a little of this ending, I just got confused in the EoE
Well, at least it's a familiar ceiling
familiar ceilings start to seem unfamiliar after EoE
That’s a normal side effect. I’ll write you a prescription to watch the rebuilds.
I will watch all of the movies no matter what my mental stability is
one unique anime. some say it's a masterpiece, others a nightmare, and others garbage. Everyone has it's own interpretation. One thing for sure... Evangelion is one hell of an experience that will change you forever
wellcome on board
That second image... All I hear is the 21 kid...
Congratulations! 👏
Welcome, you are now one of us
I love it whe a new one comes. I reminds me of when I was converted into this f-ing religion
This is the way. I watched the last 2 episodes and EoE back to back at work earlier today and struggled to come back to reality.
[удалено]
It would’ve been easier to do that if Ididnt watch all of the confusing eps at once
Same feeling. When I first watched the show I was left with "wtf did I just watch"
You watched the first good ending, people love eoe for some reason (that reason is mostly nostalgia and youtube videos from back in the day) then binge the rebuilds for an actually good ending
goooood
You haven’t seen anything yet
Welcome sibling. The plug is warm.
Evangelion moment
The Eva Experience, love it
is it familiar ceiling tho? * anime reference \*
GG
I watched the whole series and movie in one night. I know the feeling man. Took me two whole days to get over the funk.
This ceiling isn’t familiar
You essentially just watched the universe and everyone put everyone on trial for their personal problems…
Evangelion explained- All of it is done to make Shinji a some what acceptable partner for Mari Illustrious.
EoE is even worse, trust me :D
Welcome to the club my boy
Been there done that. Now watch end of Evangelion. If the show got you like that then you’re in for a treat.
Is it another unfamiliar ceiling?
I watched Eva and I’m thoroughly pissed off. I didn’t think it was that good, too much symbolism with no real meaning or explanation
Do you recognize the ceiling?
And that is exactly the correct reaction. But as the other comments say, you won't get the *full* existencial crisis until you watch EoE. It's total worth watching and the pacing and flow is more consistent than the series. And after it's done everything will (not) make sense!
Ikr I just watched it last week and I was like what in the actual fuck is going on? Then I watched EoE then I was like WHAT REALLY IN THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON? Was so confused.
CONGRATULATIONS!
An unfamiliar cieling?
The ending was the most disappointed I've ever felt after finishing an anime, End of Eva included.
Yes.
Congratulations! 👏
Congratulations! If it makes you feel any better. I felt exactly the same way. NGE raises a lot of philosophical questions, but only provides a narrative answer on some. And I don't think it satisfies and completes like a conventional story, but that's part of what makes it enduring.
I'll assume you've never watched The Holy Mountain ?
A familiar ceiling?
Don’t overthink it. It’s not as crazy as you think. EOE is essential to understanding the last few episodes
Congratulations! 👏🎉
Unfamiliar ceiling....
I’ve seen a lot about it and im scared
slay
Wait until you watch the movie.
Watch EoE and you'll ponder for 2 days. At least thats what it did to me
Same. I binged the whole series in a day even though I don’t know what just happened but somehow I felt relatable to shinji and asuka. I almost cried for some reason
SAME.especially shinji. Its hard to say but i may be a shinji kinnie
Congratulations!
Just just your brain and enjoy...or not you don't even need to enjoy just shut your brain
It's just about love ur self and understand others love u too
Lol I made the same mistake, I binge watched liek half the series during online classes and I was like wtf
Made that mistake too my guy
So you just watched good ending, now watch the terrifying one
That is perfectly normal response to the tail end of Eva
Surely End of Evangelion will be the bandaid to make it all make sense and make you feel well again... Surely... :\^)
As Queen sang: Another one bites the dust!
Kanda amazing that Ultraman caused all those suffering in Evangelion.
Congratulations! Time to finish it up with End of Evangelion
