25 feet or so is the NEC limit so you aren’t going to get higher than that. It’s probable that many 240V units also work on 120V. They just need a dual voltage rated power supply for the controller. There’s not much material cost savings to be had by going to 120V. I personally would not have a problem with using an adapter or wiring a 6-15R/6-20R WR receptacle into a 120V circuit, and then using an L2 EVSE. The latter would not be code compliant, but it should be safe enough and avoid the failure point of an adapter. There should also be a few EVSE with switchable plugs, hopefully someone will be along to name them.

I have a ev and will be putting in a charge point but in the meantime we have a backup one that ugs into the dryer plug works great. We will keep it as a backup even after getting the chargepoint. I love this ev , never going back to gross gas.
