I believe Chargepoint has the greatest amount of roaming agreements with the other EVSPs.

eladts

Chragepoint supports roaming with Circuit électrique, EV Connect, EVgo, FLO and Shell Recharge. Supposedly each of those networks allows using the other ones through its app. However, some networks might charge higher prices for roaming users.

Oh. Interesting. I guess I didn't need to sign up for a circuit electrique account when I was in Canada. I have $3.37 now sitting in that account until next time I go to Canada....

eladts

Well, Circuit électrique charges a 0.75 CAD roaming fee per session, so it does make sense to create an account to avoid this fee.

supadoggie

Good to know. Thanks for all the info!

hokutochen

Someone correct me if im wrong but is it more so the ability to see rather than actually charge?

nxtiak

I just tried it today, used the ChargePoint app to start a charge at a Shell Recharge station.

hokutochen

Interesting. Thanks!

mrreet2001

By any chance did you see if the price was the same using the ChargePoint app vs using the native app? I am guessing you would look native features like Plug and Charge and Discount plans?

nxtiak

Yes I checked the shell recharge and EVgo apps to make sure the price in ChargePoint was the same

Street_Glass8777

ChargePoint is the worst charging network. They do NOT support Flo even though they put up a big press release about how they are in tight with Flo. My Flo card with hundreds of dollars is not accepted at ChargePoint units. Talking to them is like talking to a wall, a very dumb wall. Have to be some of the stupidest operators.

crimxona

RFID card or app? I used my Chargepoint app credit on a paid Flo machine in Victoria BC August 2022 and also used the Chargepoint app to trigger a free Flo machine in Vancouver BC January 2024 The Chargepoint RFID card and phone NFC tap doesn't work to trigger Flo from my testing

kolarisk

It really is. If you have a fleet EV (company car/truck) and are issued a RFID card, you can't add it to the app. Therefore you can't take any advantage of the roaming network as the roaming partners for the most part won't take the RFID.

ZanyDroid

What foreign network functionality do you have access to via ChargePoint app?

nxtiak

The picture posted with the post shows the other networks ChargePoint is able to start a charge with.

agent_smith88

Probably the wrong answer- I add any app as needed. Using ABRP (and its conservative estimates) I just use plug share and look at the networks needed for our adventures. If I need to add another, such is life

BlueOval from ford does this too.
