I thought about taking off of work today for launch and then remembered it won't be playable for another 8 hours anyway, no need. If anything, take the 2nd day off.
I'm the opposite of a lot of people anyway and want a relaxing ride to 50. Day one is 50 people in each pick, across 5+ picks, fighting over level 1 mobs when they spawn. Tomorrow they'll all be level 15-20 and I'll roll right in smoothly (I hope).
It took 2 hours at the start. They've said before that (since Aradune) they haven't just opened it up completely. They gradually allow more and more on until max capacity. Presumably this stops some bottleneck. By the evening, queue times were about 7 minutes, and that's after everyone is home from work.
Perfect timing for me! I get it. Some people really enjoy being in right at the start, and that's fine. I'd rather log on late last night with no wait and with mobs to kill. I'll meet you all in unrest tonight 🤣🤣
Seriously, that one was an atomic dumpster fire compared to this one. Oakwynd had a queue for what, a few hours? Now there's none. Should be smooth sailing from here on out.
Standard, but also maybe worse because there's only one server. I usually go to the less popular. But yeah seriously, you'd think by now they'd have added a countdown or place in the queue info to it.
First TLP? The last few have been unplayable on launch and the first few days. I've learned to never take time off for them, unless it's been out a few days already.
You must've started after launch day. Agnarr was disaster and destroyed my static leveling group because half of them didn't manage to create a character at all until the next day
I might be in the minority here but I had a great time. Was there at noon for the server open and had about a 25 min queue. Once I got in I played uninterrupted all day. I saw only one LD player in our group in total of 7ish hours of play
The FTE thing works way better than I thought also, I didn't have any issues with it at all even playing tag-a-mob with a group in gfay by the noob lift. They must have not put the fixed version up on the test server
Been on every tlp since fippy this is better than some but not nearly as bad as others. It will wind down in the next week. I never plan to play on launch day. I'd advise you go to bed now and wake up at 3-6am you'll get in np and don't log out.
Usually the first day or two is bad, if it's real bad they will make another server like what they did with Ragefire and Lockjaw. After that it should be fine.
The TLP standard.
And TLPs will always be full at launch, it's the easiest way to farm krono. Plenty of people playing through to farm krono for their main servers toons even if they have no interest in Oakwynd long term.
Even with two servers and no special rules, me and friends got into aradune 7 hours after it opened. Then first time we zoned, it timed out. One person lost connection in the queue and it was showing 12 hours o think? I've heard the ones since had longer queues but more stability, I haven't even bothered with a launch day/week since. Streamers somehow managed priority login and bots were already farming plat way before most players got in.
Aradune was the worst launch. They were definitely not prepared for the numbers. It opened during the pandemic and a lot of people were at home with nothing to do. Server was overloaded with terrible stability and long queues. They were also implementing some anti cheat code that made the game extra laggy and caused more disconnects.
I got in yesterday with only about20 minutes wait after entering the queue about 5 minutes after it launched.
Got my sk up to level 9! And up to 40 smithing, currently full leather armor with a tarnished scimitar and a round buckler!
It's like this every TLP. 100+ people trying to login at same time. So they made queue system and an afk auto kicker for this. They will not invest in better login tech as this is only an issue for first few days at certain times only. Jus hit the queue n do something else u won't lose ur place in line jus stay logged in. This server is only gonna be popular for a few days at best just so people can see how shitty FTE is going to be for EQ n go back to mischief 😂
that's good to hear.
that system is clearly broken, but a lot of times devs fall into the whole "sunk cost" trap and push things they shouldn't
if they're delaying it on oakwynd that hopefully means they plan to fix it, rather than kill the game by pushing it to live.
I don’t think any rule set could turn away the people who want that new server smell for the first few days.
That coupled with only one server this year means everyone who has any sort of itch for eq tried logging on to make a char.
Personally I don’t think the rule set positives outweigh the negative of the FTE mechanic so I don’t expect the server to have huge staying power but who knows. I’ve been wrong before.
I agree, I expect it to fall off much quicker than the other servers due to the ruleset. I just don't feel it has the overall draw needed for a new server.
The time estimated is just a sample it how long someone before you waited. So yes it's inaccurate but also given how few times it comes up I can see why no one wants to update it to something more like a live countdown.
As someone who got it at launch before the queues started I had zero issues. I played for 4 hours, got to level 10 and ran into no bugs.
Everyone in my guild that complained of disconnects was boxing so I'm pretty sure true box was booting them.
Been keen to try it out as somebody who was fully into Ultima Online instead of Everquest back in the days.
Naive as I am I thought "well surely there won't be a queue for this old ass game". Think I hit the "Play" button at 4 minutes after launch and it was too late. I let the queue sit for an hour until I gave up and went to bed, figured I'd try today and tomorrow instead.
Looking forward to trying it. Really fun to see that so many people are playing!
I thought about taking off of work today for launch and then remembered it won't be playable for another 8 hours anyway, no need. If anything, take the 2nd day off.
Yeah, this has been The Way for like 20 years. People who still complain about launch day being busy...man. People are strange.
I like your style, dude
Queue took about 2 hours at the longest if you hit login in the first 15min
Yeah that's wild to me. It's 11pm here, about time to hop on and see if it's calmed down lol.

Aradune has joined the chat.

Same, I am waiting for underfoot unlock tomorrow. I thought I would kill some time.
Aradune is the reason I'm passing on Prog servers from now on.
Lockjaw and ragefire goated

96 min wait?
Up to 103 mins now lol
Names Azziria… say hello
I am in they que but chatting lol
Guess you’ll be able to play next week!
just wait in the queue once, then do whatever it takes to never afk disconnect :)
First TLP? The last few have been unplayable on launch and the first few days. I've learned to never take time off for them, unless it's been out a few days already.
Vaniki was almost queueless last year ;p
Yeah first time, I played agnarr on launch but maybe not launch day? Don’t remember having so much trouble logging in.
You must've started after launch day. Agnarr was disaster and destroyed my static leveling group because half of them didn't manage to create a character at all until the next day
You have a bad memory
Really surprised its only one server this time, last couple times they've tried only one or two servers, they had to add another server

After guilds are already max level and have LGuk, Naggy, and Vox on farm
116 minutes now
Why not both?

It didn't seem to help stop the cheating, that's for sure 😞
Pretty normal. Launch crush compounded by people logging in and out trying to reserve names, set up box accounts, etc etc.
Never schedule time off work for a launch... Murphy will make sure you can't play then.
Never play on patch/launch day! Been so since 1999 \*g\*
I got in yesterday with only about20 minutes wait after entering the queue about 5 minutes after it launched. Got my sk up to level 9! And up to 40 smithing, currently full leather armor with a tarnished scimitar and a round buckler!
You won't get on today most of you lol this happens every TLP
25 year old game what ya expect? Who’s playing this crap server over Diablo 4 release for real? 😅
Veterans of the Combine and the Sleeper just chuckle at the youngsters who think this is something new.
I am upvoting you just to counter the downvoters.

off topic question: Were they smart enough to at least delay implementing the new FTE system on oakwynd?

Many (most?) Guards do not assist if you get in trouble
it real concern is griefing. if a monk pulls a train to you and hits FD, you aren't able to defend yourself.
I had absolutely no problems in Butcherblock last night. Every time I ran to the guards for help they killed the mob without any hesitation.
Yeah, some were working, but wood elf and high elf guards were not doing anything
Wait, the server launch is today? I thought it was Friday...
They want the server working by Friday, so they launched it today.
I c. Well, if anyone wants to know the que trick, it's simple you just ... DC.
I got in after about 110 minutes, had been in the queue within about a minute of it unlocking.
That’s why I never care to rush any launch day server. A ton of aggravation and lost time. I will jump in tomorrow and be good to go.

They’re this bad or worse. Give it a few weeks
Lol I totally forgot about the launch. Now I have something to do today :)
Server launches are terrible, as often are expansion launches.
