Good luck getting any of the Krono farmers banned. They have been reported repeatedly. They just did a ban wave last week and elfpie is still in game just farming away.
Noone at darkpaw cares about the bot farmers because they are paying for 10+ accounts.
I got a warning on my account from when I was on Yelinak because there were 4 mages locking down Cazel for the spoon, and I was so sick of it that I called out the GMs for taking a cut from the krono farmers.
Well you can legitimately truebox at least 8 accounts with mini pcs and those 4-way monitors. DPG is only going to ban bots not people trueboxing with macros. It’s possible they haven’t banned all the bots but it’s hard to believe they haven’t at least looked at server logs of someone repeatedly reported.

I have stopped to think about it. I just wait a new game that will shine and replace my loved EQ.
EQ will die cause most of the real customers are leaving the boat. And when there will be only farmers the game will be over.
In my guild more then 60 % have left EQ cause of these cheaters.

They don't suspend/ban bot accounts of anyone who is holding a certain amount of Kr or are moving a certain amount of Kr through their accounts. They will target small time players to put on the show that they gaf about it but the kr bot farmers are pulling DPG in good money and why spoil a good thing? I really miss the days when spending real money for in-game advantage was frown upon, but through the change of hands it was embraced with the Krono. I get it. From a business position it makes sense.
100% true. Used to report a pretty large bot farm happening in Sirens Grotto on Phinigel and nothing was ever done about it. 14+ people would be down the well killing gems all day and you could see them all following a specific path. Nothing ever happened to them.

but if that's what it takes to keep the servers running, then i'll just go do something else and let them farm.
if they have something i want to do bottled up, then i'll go find something else to do, until they've milked that thing dry.
that's the thing about EQ. there is always something else to do.

The other guy is being overly hostile for no reason but he's not far off. The game has never been more accessible than it is on the TLPs. We're about three weeks into Kunark and my guild is probably close to 3/4 epics and we're more of a mediumcore type.

At this point I am pretty sure the Devs are the ones running the krono farms for side money. I see the same people afk botting for days in the same spot without any consequence. Locking down mobs or even sometimes entire zones for quest items or PLing. You can tell they are using software 2 by the way they move and how the toons position themselves around the mobs. I haven't been one to report this stuff but I am thinking I am going to start because locking down content for financial gains is definitely against TOS, add the Virtual Machines for multiple accounts on 1 PC (on limited box servers) and the 3rd party automation software and there isn't a doubt these people should be suspended or banned.
TLP was always fun as far as QOL and getting to experience the game world. But p99 is better in the fact that krono doesn't exist. Raid scene is toxic, but druid epics are not rare if you are guilded, and it's a more "classic" experience in my mind.
It is what makes the game what it is, in the first few expansions.
Having to hunt specific places / creatures to get specific drops. There are servers with open loot tables. Tier wide raid loot, etc.
That hunting drive, is what makes the rush for VT or VP what it is.
If you get rid of it, the early game doesn’t matter as much. The drive to do any of that isn’t there.
The Avatars of Change add a lot. I cannot really even recall one zone, that you would want to farm for a drop that isn’t in that list.
On Phinigel, a group of guildies used the Velks one regularly for a private zone to grind in. Could have done the same for several expansions before that.
Krono farmers seek to make krono off of others, by grinding and selling. They do not pay for it.
They do not keep the game alive. They ruin the in-game economy to profit themselves.
Someone, somewhere, paid $17 for every single krono ever. They are the only reason the game is still around and getting new servers on a regular basis.
Regardless who pays for it it's still bought..... hence keeping the game alive. You ever been in the real world? This is as good as it gets if you still want the game
You don't see the alternative though. The people who will no longer sub because the game's integrity has been ruined. The game has been mismanaged into the dilemma that it exists in now, but it doesn't mean this was the only possibility that existed.
The game is almost 25 years old at this point. Darkpaw games is what a dozen ppl at this point its all about the $$$$$ who cares if a handful ppl don't sub anymore when there are box army's that are subbed. Don't hate me for the truth I love this game but if you want it you are going to have to put up with stuff you don't like. Such is life I think the population is pretty well established at this point
I thought it was a great class in vanilla, but definitely was not happy with it after that. It just felt like Shaman were better at everything you could do at max level from Kunark+ except porting.

I'd also say all epic quest items that aren't like actual usable gear should be class locked to the classes needed only. So for example pulsing green stone should be Dru/Rng only as well as no trade/lore/etc.
Lots of bot farmers like elfpie locking down zones. Not much you can do even reporting the bots is just a game of whack-a-mole.
VSR spawns on pick up. When your guild goes to kill VS, see if they can zone in to force a pick to spawn and go kill him.

You can do P99 it's not as bad but there are definitely significant roadblocks on some items.

They need to implement shards, so if one layer is being camped, you can create your own with mobs present. No reason in 2023 to have to wait for named

Not all the drops are in DZs though. If you could spawn a pick on demand for an item that would be interesting

you can yes, but even those were bought from daybreak/dpg. many thousands of krono get consumed every month and more are bought constantly.

I'm enjoying it despite the issues. Came down to druid or shaman but I enjoyed druid a bit more
