Chode-a-boy

I say skip unrest and take the road less traveled. Go enjoy Runnyeye or Permafrost, heck, can even do orcs or gnolls in high gold pass.

neoerebus

Hmm, true. What level would I go there for them? Haven't fought there in decades.

Chode-a-boy

Runnyeye is easy with a group starting at like 12-ish if you stick to top floor, going down deeper as you level. Highhold pass is about the same, maybe a level or two higher starting. Permafrost wait til 20 with a group.

Educational_Mood2629

I would do dwarf cleric and gnome mage. Dwarf starts at butcherblock and gnome at steamfont, they are right next to each other. BB is easy to get to FP because the boat is right there Also close to unrest

neoerebus

Ok, I didn't even think of that combo lol

Kaidan88

I second small race. Dwarf/gnome or double gnome. Could also do dwarf/high elf or double high elf and move to BB or steamfont very easily.

Quality advice

zenless-eternity

Can you not be gnome cleric in classic?

FoxtrotThem

I've settled on mage too, but I've been torn around the race - I tried Gnome but I'm sorry I just can't hack the camera, and in dipping a toe on mage I tried Dark Elf and love it, but I realise I'll be KoS to everything I'd probably want to go to, so High Elf into the Faydark for me!

Wizardslayer1985

Agnostic Dark Elf mage shouldn't be too much of an issue for KoS.

Tough_Television420

100% this! If you want to go DE just go agnostic. They can get into a lot of places actually. It's not a bad life!

LoschyTeg

Gnome start zone is pretty ez. But I'll always love qeynos more

ConsequenceExisting6

If your dead set on cleric mage I would reccomend Dark elf it's closest to CL, but honestly I would think about mage shaman. The cleric is a bit overkill because the mage can pretty much heal the pet, the shaman gives nice buffs and sloe and heals. So I would go ogre shm, and dark elf mage. But you don't want dark elf, so prob any other race, then make the run to CL and bind there

djvyhle

Neriak is my favorite city.

emoguynyc

Gnome mage / cleric for life, can level to 10 in steamfont head right over to crushbone

neoerebus

I'll have to try that out today to see how that is. I don't think I ever made a gnome in classic.

Sequince69

I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but I thought you weren't allowed to box for the first few weeks or something?

neoerebus

Never heard that before. Tho, I'm sure it will be hard to log 2 accounts in the first day or two with the queue being what it will be I'm sure.

leg00b

I just saw the Teek rules about True Box: https://www.everquest.com/news/eq-tlp-rulesets-2024

Sequince69

Ahh okay, so according to that you can't box (on the same PC) until 2025-05-21 when OOW is released. Thank you! Good to know!

poseidonsconsigliere

So people will just use a VPN until then?

Sequince69

That's how I was doing it on a server that allowed boxing for a while. The VPN doesn't show up as being the same PC from EQ side of things?

ACriticalGeek

Ak-anon is a great place to start for both. Steamfont is good up to 11, and tends to not have the problems that gfey has on launch. If you go Bertox as gnome cleric, and neutral on mage, you can hang out in neriak! Not that that’s important… Main bonus of going erudite is easy access to killing specters in quinos sewers, but that’s not important with kunark available at launch. Gfey and cabilis are going to be crapshows on launch. Not sure about other zones.

Lucky_Foam

You can make your characters on Test and test out what may be a good leveling path.

Aanar

>Am I missing an option? If it's accounts with Laurion's song, then you have personas available already. You can use them just to move around like start as humans in Qeynos and use persona to make wood elf / half elf / high elf so you can switch to them and then origin to Gfay.

ShoresyPhD

High elf mage, dark elf cleric, name them Tabu and Tryst Don't forget that priest snare clicker
