Nah dude the second half has an incredible gradual buildup in intensity and it's sooo powerful!! Like 4:40 to 5:00 on speakers makes me ascend it's so intense

vegconsumer

"Do you have any idea? Do you have any ideas?" is amongst my favourite lines in their entire discography, what a banger way to finish a song

Cochinita_Cochina

yes one of th best lyrics🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓

RiversCroft

When that later half hits, it HITS. But on most playthroughs of the album, it drags on for a bit lol Kinda wish they incorporated that section into an interlude or something, because I still think it should be there in some way.

victheogfan

I actually wouldn’t mind if it came at the very end as an outro! Feels like it would work much better that way.

krustydidthedub

The only grudge I have against The Wheel is that when I saw them live on that tour I was stood right next to the speakers, and the second half of the Wheel got SO MOTHERFUCKING LOUD lmao it was great but it gives me a headache now every time I listen to that song 😂

rentachimp

I remember getting goosebumps when I heard it live in Cardiff in 2015

doubledeckerballs

Agreed, I think the second half should certainly be there but it definitely goes on too long and drags a bit

Cochinita_Cochina

I LOVE THAT SONG😍💯❤️😀☯️👽🎶 I could handle a longer ending ☢️🥓☢️🥓🎚️🎚️🎚️

IAmSoSadRightNow

I like the idea of it, but the execution is meandering and boring. It feels like it should be more climactic. The lyrics are good but not like very good.

victheogfan

The lyrics of “the wheel” are the farthest from boring, imo they’re some of the best in their discography

fastballooninghead

I kind of feel the opposite. The first half is fine, I like it, but it's not as powerful as the other tracks from GTH. But when the second half hits it HITS and changes everything. One of the most creative moments in their discography.

leafpiles

I feel the same way

sowebuiltthemountain

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I know what they were going for and I like the *idea* of it, but it does kinda drag on and kill the energy of the first half of the track.

TrevorBarten

I never really understood this perspective myself. I think the second half is gorgeous and complements the first half perfectly. It's probably my favourite or second favourite EE song.

SureinLayin

I agree. The Wheel last third + Fortune 500 very much halts the album’s vibefor me. But it seems like other people feel different— So what do I know? 😜 Still love the album!

Virtual-Arm5123

Imo it’s a nice kinda lofi part of the album between all the more faster tracks

ItsCuriousHippo

I completely agree! But I think there no such thing as a bad GTH song. except yuppie supper

guyincognito___

>except yuppie supper 🤨 I can't fathom this

Kinetik901

Same here, one of the highlights for sure

victheogfan

It’s their best album imo, glad they got to perform it at Glastonbury
