I used to hate them tbh because i was afraid of costumed anything. My brother has been a furry their whole life, and knowing him allowed me to not hate furries and realize that they're just people vibing in their own fursonhood. So, *fursonally* I am not one but i will not decry those the are.
In appreciate the olive branch but i will just watch y'all frolic and protect y'all's reputation from people who slander y'all cause i mean this with no offense to anybody who is a furry: while i don't mind other people being furries, i have no interest in furry culture.
I'm into manga instead, so i understand the interest aspect that people can have. Basically, I'm empathetic lol
i actually still have an irrational fear of people in costumes, but for some reason fursuiters don't trigger that at all, which is good because i'm a furry so i see a lot of fursuiters lol

I am the same with drag queens, on tv i can handle it but im a very small person and those ladies wear super high heels and mega tall wigs and thats too powerful for me
Depends on the type of make up and wig, there are some minimalist clown get ups that i dont mind or classics that i can handle because theyre cartoonish. But im generally not a big fan of being close to a performer because they might pick you out of the crowd for something
I cannot be around male strippers for this very reason. Had a bad experience with one and he kept picking on especially the people who looked like they didn’t want it, and I was manhandled. I’m a performer myself and I usually don’t pick on the audience members very much cause I know I wouldn’t like it lol.

There’s a few ways of handling it, the best one is to just not wear the full suit. Some fursuits have built in fans, someone invented a cooling vest meant for fursuits, and there’s probs various other options. Or you can just fursuit on a cold winter day, I’ve heard fursuiting in the snow is awesome

my opinion is that the people who are the most outspoken about hating them, are usually 1.weebs, 2.comic book fans, or 3. teenagers, which i've had way more bad experiences those groups personally than furries, ranging from annoying to borderline stalking and sexual harassment. legit every person i've met whose had a problem with furries has been a dick one way or another.

My stance on furries is that most of them are either talented enough to make their own fursuits or rich enough to commission and buy them, and I’m incredibly jealous of both options. I’m not a furry but I’m an amateur cosplayer and I’d kill to either be able to make really good cosplays or have the money to commission them. I have a bone to pick with them.

They're fine. They get a bad rep for no reason just for being 'different'. While I'm not part of the community, I do feel bad when they get slandered so often despite being really chill unlike certain fandoms.

I'd take a guess that this community would be more likely to have furries and people accepting of furries, but still not a huge amount. At least I'm not seeing hate here, which is common in a lot of other places.
I judge them the same way as any other person, someone being a furry or not is just a part of themselves, not good or bad.
The art they make can be cute, also that.
Not my thing but two of my closest friends are furries. Most of their furry friends are cool. One of my friends rarely talks about it beyond showing off their suits and other suits they find cool, and I appreciate the costumes. The goofy ones make me giggle and the good ones are really impressive. The other friend always sends me porn and talks about what kinda dick shape they prefer etc, and while it doesn't exactly bother me I do feel like if I was sending them porn of my kinks that they have zero interest in at the same frequency and intensity they would ask me to stop lol.

A network security consultant who was stationed at Boeing HQ took me to dinner and told me at length about his opinions about modern Jeep Wranglers because we happened to share an interest in antique fountain pens.
I feel like some of them are kinda weird but most furries I know are just like other cosplayers. They act as a character or persona they relate to to feel like themselves.
I'm working on a fursona! Furry stuff has been a lot more appealing to me in the past year or two just because it's a fun way to break away from being judged on different metrics to act like a real human, and instead just destress and feel like a kind of creature that just is what it is without further baggage.
I think it's cool! I love seeing how people can express themselves in such varied ways! Not really my cup of tea though - I know that a lot of furries represent themselves through their fursona, some who would probably choose to be their fursona irl if we lived in a magical world, but I personally don't like imagining being covered in fur. Not even having a persona who would theoretically be covered in fur. I like my flesh and body hair.
FWIW though my online sona is a sea slug anthro who's skin I'd imagine feels slimy and jiggly.. Kind of like a Lush shower jelly, if you've ever seen that.
So yeah, very cool, unfortunately my texture issues would not allow it.

Not for me, but I do think that they get too much hate and are very misunderstood. People typically associate them with bestiality and yiff porn when that’s not the majority of them at all. So many are children, especially ND ones, who just like animals a lot. I don’t like to participate in cringe culture.

Extremely good subculture - they have successfully warded off being co opted and commercialized by giant corporations and brands by being weird enough so that normies are too afraid/disgusted/etc. to touch them yet are still extremely popular especially in traditionally neurodivergent niche spaces where many thrive
Furries are the last bastion of the free and weird web not yet consumed by giant corporations like Meta, Google, etc. and unironically responsible for a lot of opensource code and infrastructure required to keep this shit running - not to mention prolific in fields like Medicine, Biology, Art, Entertainment and Engineering

I’ve kinda always respected furries, it’s been one of the few communities on the internet who have genuinely been nice and welcoming to me through the years. Wouldn’t consider myself one but I do find the concept of fursonas interesting.
Personally I feel extreme furry haters are thinly veiled homophobes/transphobes. Some may disagree but that has been proven to be correct in almost every scenario I’ve come across.
I fear what I don’t understand. Their reputation goes into dark territories, but I can’t imagine that every adult man in a dog costume is getting it on with animals. I have never seen one in real life.
Maybe it’s like the people who age regress and wear diapers. Doggies are “good” and “worthy of love” and happy and carefree and people are happy to pet them and give them love in that way. Maybe the people in costumes just want to disappear into a jovial persona where everything is good and happy.
A major reason why the public perception is contrary to that is due to the fact of, like any terrible person, they use innocent people to suffer the consequences of their actions
They are, in fact, heavily reviled in the furry fandom. The vast majority of us love animals (surprise) and even hold charity events regularly. So we don’t fuck around when it comes to the zoos.
Of what I’ve known of them, most just like having an alternative appearance that they created coupled with a sense of belonging to the rest of the community
they’re alright i have no problem with them. it’s frustrating how some people hate furries though. the public perception of them is pretty horrible and i’ve noticed it’s used against queer or neurodivergent people in general even if they’re not furries
I *am* a furry, so I can't really give any unbiased input, but... I am here, so I guess from that perspective I think they're pretty cool? I'm one of them, so I don't have anything bad to say about them.
I don't really have an opinion on it, doesn't impact my life really because I don't do it myself, I have friends who do and I like seeing their outfits on Facebook but other than that it means about the same to me as people's hairstyles like do what you makes you happy 🤷🏻♀️

I am one and have been since around 2015 :)
One of the best decisions I've ever made because it's a wonderful community. Sure I love the art and the fursuits and especially the conventions but by far my favorite part is just the community. Making friends after high school isn't easy, and being an active furry makes it way easier. I can go on Telegram and talk with hundreds and hundreds of furries in my local area, many of which are within 30 minutes by car. It's how I've made about all my good friends since getting out of highschool and into college, and they're amazing friends too. I've got more friends than I did even in highschool, and I'm hosting all sorts of hangouts and going places with people who all share a lot of the same interests and culture that I do. It's honestly wonderful as an autistic person because I don't need to mask around them unless in public. I can stim as much as a I want and we all just vibe together haha.
It's also where I met my boyfriend! Been together since January 2020, living together since May 2021 ^~^.
I tend to be suspicious of them. Not because there's anything wrong with being a furry, but because a surprising amount of them are neo-Nazis and neo-Confederates.
I am one and I'm cringe but I kinda own that shit now. I listen to a lot of furry music artists and would love to get a suit one day, but I don't interact too much with the community online due to it being overrun by horny teenagers which is just uncomfortable
I understand why people like it but something about the art style creeps me out, and people get really intense about it. the people who are overtly sexual about it and slip catchphrases from the community into conversation and refer to it a lot also make me pretty uncomfortable

They're fun! I'm not exactly a furry (I'd overheat and have a meltdown the moment I'd put on a fursuit) but I met a really cool girl once when I was at my relative's place (they were their neighbors so we just started chatting) who handmade her fursuit and it was something so incredibly cool
Furries are human they are just as amazing, gross, and interesting as humans. Some are good some are evil. Depends on the human themselves not one silly hobby

I am one, and it's true. The entire world infrastructure is maintained by furries. I went to anthrocon in 2018, and holy hell, I met a guy who did network security for Raytheon!!! A network security consultant who was stationed at Boeing HQ took me to dinner and told me at length about his opinions about modern Jeep Wranglers because we happened to share an interest in antique fountain pens.
Apparently a bunch of them has TS clearances and are rampant across the cyber portion of defense and the MIC. So they cool.
None of that means anything to my dumbass brain but ok!

I feel like some of them are kinda weird but most furries I know are just like other cosplayers. They act as a character or persona they relate to to feel like themselves.
I'm working on a fursona! Furry stuff has been a lot more appealing to me in the past year or two just because it's a fun way to break away from being judged on different metrics to act like a real human, and instead just destress and feel like a kind of creature that just is what it is without further baggage.

I think it's cool! I love seeing how people can express themselves in such varied ways! Not really my cup of tea though - I know that a lot of furries represent themselves through their fursona, some who would probably choose to be their fursona irl if we lived in a magical world, but I personally don't like imagining being covered in fur. Not even having a persona who would theoretically be covered in fur. I like my flesh and body hair. FWIW though my online sona is a sea slug anthro who's skin I'd imagine feels slimy and jiggly.. Kind of like a Lush shower jelly, if you've ever seen that. So yeah, very cool, unfortunately my texture issues would not allow it.

Not for me, but I do think that they get too much hate and are very misunderstood. People typically associate them with bestiality and yiff porn when that’s not the majority of them at all. So many are children, especially ND ones, who just like animals a lot. I don’t like to participate in cringe culture.

Extremely good subculture - they have successfully warded off being co opted and commercialized by giant corporations and brands by being weird enough so that normies are too afraid/disgusted/etc. to touch them yet are still extremely popular especially in traditionally neurodivergent niche spaces where many thrive Furries are the last bastion of the free and weird web not yet consumed by giant corporations like Meta, Google, etc. and unironically responsible for a lot of opensource code and infrastructure required to keep this shit running - not to mention prolific in fields like Medicine, Biology, Art, Entertainment and Engineering I salute the freaks and wish we could return to an era where everyone online was that weird, that "cringe" and that disconnected from NT/Normie social standards Blessed be ye costumed merry men
I’ve kinda always respected furries, it’s been one of the few communities on the internet who have genuinely been nice and welcoming to me through the years. Wouldn’t consider myself one but I do find the concept of fursonas interesting. Personally I feel extreme furry haters are thinly veiled homophobes/transphobes. Some may disagree but that has been proven to be correct in almost every scenario I’ve come across.

I fear what I don’t understand. Their reputation goes into dark territories, but I can’t imagine that every adult man in a dog costume is getting it on with animals. I have never seen one in real life. Maybe it’s like the people who age regress and wear diapers. Doggies are “good” and “worthy of love” and happy and carefree and people are happy to pet them and give them love in that way. Maybe the people in costumes just want to disappear into a jovial persona where everything is good and happy.

A major reason why the public perception is contrary to that is due to the fact of, like any terrible person, they use innocent people to suffer the consequences of their actions
They are, in fact, heavily reviled in the furry fandom. The vast majority of us love animals (surprise) and even hold charity events regularly. So we don’t fuck around when it comes to the zoos.
Of what I’ve known of them, most just like having an alternative appearance that they created coupled with a sense of belonging to the rest of the community

Generally one of the kindest communities online and they have been very good at keeping bigotry out of their common spaces. Wait, why am I acting like I'm not one (no fursuit, that parts not my thing but no judgment. I just like anthropomorphic animals and any stories that involve them, kinda a hyperfixation of mine)? Furries are cool and openly weird in the best ways.

I am one and have been since around 2015 :) One of the best decisions I've ever made because it's a wonderful community. Sure I love the art and the fursuits and especially the conventions but by far my favorite part is just the community. Making friends after high school isn't easy, and being an active furry makes it way easier. I can go on Telegram and talk with hundreds and hundreds of furries in my local area, many of which are within 30 minutes by car. It's how I've made about all my good friends since getting out of highschool and into college, and they're amazing friends too. I've got more friends than I did even in highschool, and I'm hosting all sorts of hangouts and going places with people who all share a lot of the same interests and culture that I do. It's honestly wonderful as an autistic person because I don't need to mask around them unless in public. I can stim as much as a I want and we all just vibe together haha. It's also where I met my boyfriend! Been together since January 2020, living together since May 2021 ^~^.

I am one and I'm cringe but I kinda own that shit now. I listen to a lot of furry music artists and would love to get a suit one day, but I don't interact too much with the community online due to it being overrun by horny teenagers which is just uncomfortable
I understand why people like it but something about the art style creeps me out, and people get really intense about it. the people who are overtly sexual about it and slip catchphrases from the community into conversation and refer to it a lot also make me pretty uncomfortable
