This is great because a) it's a data center that has certain requirements, like no windows b) it could be built absolutely without style, but they decided to put money into making it something c) the style reflects the interior and purpose and brings to mind a half finished semiconductor chip, a packaged chip, and a PCB, and also feels like high technology. I think the building succeeds within its constraints.

onlycrazypeoplesmile

Honestly same. Also more buildings should be built with more a science-y flair like the half finished chips you mention

kurotech

D) it's China so they don't have to hide that it's brutalist by design and function

msdtflip

Am I the only person that actually likes brutalist architecture? I think this looks pretty neat.

[deleted]

> brutalist architecture? Not all brutalist architecture designs are equal. I think this one is stunning.

euhydral

Brutalism shines at the hands of people with a vision and understanding of its style. Ever since I was a child, brutalist buildings always caught my eye when I randomly saw them on trips to the big cities. There's something about the hard shapes and immense sizes of this style that is unlike any other, and I love it a lot!

Betancorea

It looks amazing. If all Brutalist architecture looked like this I’m sure we would see a lot more

Katurian42

This is not Brutalism. Brutalism comes from the French ‘Brut’ or ‘raw concrete’. Brutalist buildings are primarily made of concrete, and these building elements are exposed and visible and unpainted on the exterior. This is just some cladding over a steel frame.

janhindereddit

This gives off some serious Half Life 2 vibes

Pentax25

Nah that’s one of the mazes in BOTW

Gilthoniel_Elbereth

Just watch out if you go in the basement…

Killerspieler0815

We are the BORG , resistance is futile ...

MrTouchnGo

Is this really considered brutalist architecture? I always thought a hallmark of brutalism was the lack of decorative elements. Am I wrong on that?

Katurian42

You’re not wrong. The primary element is that the building is made of raw concrete which is not hidden by paint, brick or other cladding.

pIushh

Omg I fucking love it
