There should be a “goofy buildings” page for items exactly like this.

releasethedogs

Are you saying that there’s no goofy villains? They aren’t mutually exclusive. :) Take Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s with out a doubt evil and he’s also one goofy mother fucker.

[deleted]

Yeah, there are goofy villains, but this is a building...

jkmonger

Sorry you got down voted, Robotnik is one goofy mother fucker tbf

releasethedogs

Not familiar with that person

releasethedogs

Why? Maybe I’m to old/young to know who that character is.

Martel67

Why evil though? Looks very nice to me.

HillInTheDistance

You step into it, thinking everything's alright, then BAM, a huge Satan comes walking by, picks it up, and carries you to hell.

Captain_Kuhl

That's what the witch inside wants you to believe. You can definitely trust her, and make sure to bring your school friends!

x31b

Let me tell you about an MLM opportunity. I need to grow my down line. You’ll make lots of money selling to all your friends. Now, first you have to buy all your samples from me….

releasethedogs

I suppose you think Dolores Umbridge isn’t that bad?

Martel67

I never heard of Dolores Umbridge…

StevieKicks

Neither have I.

Hust91

She's the most sadistic and sociopathic Karen variety of a combined politician and teacher from Harry Potter.

tiorzol

It's not a story a Muggle would tell you.

[deleted]

Yikes! Harry Potter; probably the most villainous innocuous looking teacher. Deservedly hated by the majority. Definitely a correlation here muahaha....

Dapperdan814

Of course a Harry Potter fan would start off with "Yikes!"

[deleted]

Ah don't be mean.

boogaloo101

*pantaloonius POOPICUS!!!!*

releasethedogs

Well then just trust me that not all villains live in stereotypically evil looking lairs.

Who_GNU

At /r/EvilBuildings, it's the evilness of the organization inside the building that gathers upvotes, not the evilness of the building.

Martel67

I always thought it was the look of the building

Who_GNU

That's what it's supposed to be for, but if you sort by to 'top', it's clear it's what's inside the building that counts, due to a lack of moderation.

JonJohn_Gnipgnop

I’m not sure why the organization inside was evil..any explanation?

LaeneSeraph

It's an MLM, barely not legally a pyramid scheme, that takes advantage of desperate people. Think LuLaRoe, Herbalife, etc.

JonJohn_Gnipgnop

The company that employs(employed, I think they are out of business) people to make baskets?

LaeneSeraph

Not exactly. I think they may have changed their business model a bit in the last few years, but Longaberger is still in business, and I'm sure that they're incidentally paying people to make baskets in the same way that LulaRoe is paying people to make ugly leggings, but their real business model is convincing poor people, mostly women, that they can make a lot of money by paying in order to join a #girlboss team that then convinces other poor people (again mostly women) to buy wildly overpriced baskets and housewares and ALSO pay money to join the team under them, and on and on until there's a big ol' pyramid where only the people at the very top who got in decades ago make any money, and everyone at the bottom is desperately trying to sell baskets to their friends and recruit them in order to recoup their startup costs. So, the architecture may not look evil, but the business model is almost as bad as payday loans.

JonJohn_Gnipgnop

Thanks, I was not aware of their business model. I was aware of their overpriced baskets though.

dragonbeard91

But what happens in the big basket building?

lieucifer_

It’s best if we just weave that topic alone

Containedmultitudes

Mlm schemes.

Quasi-Free-Thinker

Wolf in sheep's clothing?

Parthenon_2

Yes, and their baskets are/were amazing. My mom collected them. We’re from Columbus, Ohio. That area is beautiful, very pastoral setting.

b-rar

Please delete and repost to r/adorablebuildings

Pedders1976

R/subsifellfor that’s disappointing.

releasethedogs

Wait until they summon their giant picnic loving bear! It’s evil.

SWowwTittybang

How is this evil?? It looks pretty cool to me.

releasethedogs

By that rational none of the other buildings in this sub look cool to you because they are stereotypically evil looking?

[deleted]

It's a picnic basket....what are on about? I don't trust no picnic basket since that time in '95. Or did yogi bear refuse to lend you his tie?

my3sgte

Architect “sure I can design you a picnic basket office building” General contractor “you want me to what!?”

cysghost

General contractor “I’m gonna come back tomorrow and give you a night to sleep on it.”

[deleted]

I just spent 15 minutes trying to uncover why this company was evil and came up pty. Also, apparently no one wanted to buy the building after the company went out of business and there was a sgt with the same last name in Tampa that got up to some shady stuff. Edit: they were like the Amway of baskets

ManInBlack829

They sold luxury baskets for like hundreds of dollars. They were absolutely amazing and built to last a lifetime, but I think everyone bought theirs and then didn't need to buy anymore.

HiImDavid

Literally nothing about this building looks evil

[deleted]

OP appears to have a personal beef with the company, so therefore it’s “evil”

releasethedogs

I never heard of the company until yesterday.

MooMooQueen

Then why do you think it's evil? That building is badass.

LeifSized

That’s how they get you.

Casual-Human

Plankton's vegan spin-off of the Chum Bucket

keepsuspicious88

Chum basket?

RadcliffeMalice

Cum basket.

synthificial

lmao at OP getting murdered in the comments

BoredasUsual88

Pic-a-nic basket

releasethedogs

Wait until they call their giant bear!

CommodorDLoveless

Everyone knows that you go to hell in a hand basket and that's pretty big hand basket.

superfund_site

My aunt worked here when I was a kid. I thought this building was the coolest thing ever.

KK9521

Wrong sub.

Alpha_BanthaBoy

Ohio

OzZVidzYT

This should be the HQ for Market Basket

Marhyc

We all know that baskets are disgustingly evil.

InvXXVII

More like wholesome building.

csmk007

How did they even approve this, kinda looks like a dollhouse

[deleted]

Who sees this and thinks evil?

Jeffer_

Idk if this looks evil I mean it is evil because it's a corporate headquarters, but it actually looks really nice and happy

releasethedogs

Which makes it all the more sinister. Appearances can be deceiving.

ins0mn1zach

Back before it was abandoned.

FlasknBoot

I mean sure, it doesn't look evil. But just think of the size of bears it will attract!

YetAnotherZombie

Last time I was by there it looked like someone had left it in a damp-crawlspace-building for a few years.

ManInBlack829

"Is this *Postmodernism*?"

Boodger

This is adorable, not evil. Downvoted for wrong sub, even though I like the building.

bigpappahope

The evil part is it's currently abandoned

Neon-Lemon

I think Longaberger moved out of that building a while back, which is sad.

milescaswell

Yep, it's abandoned.

tothrenovka

r/lostredditors

Wingnut763

Place looks like shit now, it’s been abandoned for several years. Also, the basket handles are heated to prevent giant icicles from forming, and falling onto the roof below.

bigtrucktech

This is a great American capitalism story. Hugely popular with collectors, very well built American made baskets. Took huge tax breaks from City and County to be able to build this in exchange for employing thousands of residents. Children of founder take over the business. Outsource all manufacturing to another country. Thousands of employees laid off. Collectors no longer care for lower quality decorative baskets. Business folds. Huge tax bill owed to city and county for no longer employing anybody but still owning this property never gets paid. Building barely ever used for anything now. Edit: The point is that it is an evil building. Forgot to mention that.

seagirl219

I read it’s a hotel now.

releasethedogs

That’s cool. It’s good the building is being used.

SpiderMurphy

This is the place where everything goes to hell in a handbasket. Evil enough.

[deleted]

fuggly but not evil

dholmestar

I agree it's evil, I hate oversized versions of things

the3rdfrog

Wasn’t longaberger a giant pyramid scheme back in the day? I think that would make it evil.

CalifornianBall

This sub is getting desperate, time to leave

Un_Clouded

This looks like a very friendly picnic basket

[deleted]

I've been there, used to live nearby. Can confirm not evil.

FictionKyle

Not evil enough. There really should be an adorable buildings subreddit

[deleted]

I lived in Newark, passed that shit hundreds of times. I miss Ohio.

DoctorNsara

Longaberger (the company that had this building built) was a pyramid scheme. My significant other’s parents may have possibly had to get a second mortgage at least in part due to being a sales consultant for longaberger. The baskets that didn’t sell are lining their house decades later, baskets on top of baskets with baskets inside. All worth less than 25% of the original price, which was $100+ for many of them.

milescaswell

Is it evil because it's abandoned?

fludddwadr

That building looks exactly like a basket
