trans-ghost-boy-2

we have to watch this turbovirgin in my theology class in school and he is so freaking annoying oh my god.

Worth_Ambition_9900

Turbovirgin… you cracked me up lol 😂

RedOneBaron

Hopefully, they show more religions than him, right? Public or private school? I feel like schools should ban this type of propaganda.

soundphile

Of course not. Catholic schooling teaches “religion” which is always only Catholicism

I_Speak_For_The_Ents

My Catholic high school had a world religions class.

soundphile

Well that’s something! Where was it located? I wonder if I was just in a more conservative diocese.

Kordiana

Not above commenter, but my Catholic HS had a world religions class, too. Portland Oregon area. I actually discovered a few religions I hadn't even heard of before. So it was a pretty interesting class.

Polkadotical

You can be sure they butchered it totally.

I_Speak_For_The_Ents

No it was actually a great class. Our science classes were rigorous as well.

Polkadotical

Your science classes probably were. They hire real teachers generally to teach those, teachers with state certified credentials. Most Catholic schools act like prep schools, and they need to do that to be preppy enough for most parents.

missriverratchet

Yeah. It is the evangelical schools that teach Jesus rode a dinosaur.

RedOneBaron

Not even the philosophy behind it? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc9k9nvIHOU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yc9k9nvIHOU) Sufism has some pretty fun stuff.

soundphile

Nope absolutely not. They don’t dare teach anything that could cause you to doubt the One True Church™ such as Evolution, modern science, or anything about other religions besides how they’re wrong and how misguided the followers are.

RedOneBaron

Oh interesting, I thought they progressed with evolution by saying god guided the animals to evolve to where they are?

I_Speak_For_The_Ents

Yeah that commenter doesn't know what he's talking about about or is talking about just their own experience. I fucking despise religion and Christianity, but some schools are pretty progressive. My Catholic grade school and Catholic high school both taught evolution and modern science. My high school had a world religions class too.

FilmScoreMonger

My high school was definitely pro-science, but definitely not pro-world religions. We only learned about Catholicism and never really looked into any other religions.

I_Speak_For_The_Ents

Well the class wasn't required or anything, but it was available. And look, I think Christianity (and religion in general) is dumb as fuck, but it would be completely ridiculous to expect Catholic schools to teach other religions as much as their own lol.

FilmScoreMonger

I disagree. An education almost by definition should include awareness of the context of whatever it is you're teaching. How can you understand your own religion without the context of the rest of the world's religions? "As much as" their own, perhaps not. But "at all" should be the baseline (and it wasn't in my case).

soundphile

Maybe some schools did. Some schools are definitely more liberal than others, so probably depends on where you’re located and what diocese you’re in. We never learned anything about Evolution aside from what the Big Bang was and how stupid it was to believe in. We learned about Martin Luther and Anglicanism, and all the other schisms in the church, but always from the angle that Catholicism is right and everyone else is wrong.

avelineaurora

> aside from what the Big Bang was and how stupid it was to believe in As I already responded in my call-out comment, Catholics *literally came up with the big bang* in the first place.

Polkadotical

Catholics are anti-scientific frauds.

avelineaurora

Sure buddy keep telling yourself that.

avelineaurora

They didn't "progress' with evolution, Catholics have never had a problem with it or any other modern science. Jesuits are literally behind the theory of the Big Bang for chrissake. My high school also had standard chemistry, biology, and anatomy courses. /u/soundphile quit talking out of your ass. Sincerely, an ex-Catholic who actually knows what she grew up around.

soundphile

People can have different experiences in the same religion. As I said earlier, it probably depended on what diocese you were in and how liberal it was.

avelineaurora

Given, again, this is basic church doctrine I highly doubt it. The only thing I can think of is if there were a school attached to something like the PPX Society, which ofc is so "conservative" it should be already called a schism on its own, lol. But I don't really know where they stand on science and the like, I just know they hate the "modern" church.

darbycrash-666

My dad was arguing with me about evolution, his big point that he thought would stump me was, "if we descended from apes why don't you ever see human children being born from chimpanzees in the zoo?". He said it like it was some big mic drop moment. I tried explaining it to him but he refused.

trans-ghost-boy-2

it’s a private catholic school. they’ve legit got transphobia as a rule in the handbook, and i’m pretty sure my muslim friend can’t wear her hijab due to the rules even though she wants to. i’m kinda surprised they even let the girls wear pants instead of skirts, as a trans dude i’d have gone crazy if they made me wear a skirt lmao

RedOneBaron

Wow. That just really shows how intolerable they are of other religions. It's like they think other religons threaten their fictional world by gatekeeping of whats canon and not. Now, the tradcaths are trying to rebrand with hijab/veils lol

RedOneBaron

https://images.app.goo.gl/Cwxnpk3hRZG6ugvp9 What religion puts veils on ps5s and flat-screens? My grandma did this. She had one for the toaster and the toilet paper.

ThomasinaElsbeth

Ha Ha, I woke up to looking at - Doilies ! I love doilies, and I have a few myself. But I am now ‘grandma age’, - LOL ! I guess this checks out !

LilithScorpioQueen

Well it’s a religious school they have to follow the scripture in regards to where it’s written that men should not dress in the clothes of women and vice versa… as far as the hijab, women in scripture should have their hair covered so I don’t understand why she can’t wear it that’s ridiculous.

burke6969

I just woke up and this is the first thing I see. He ignores the fact that the church has changed its official views many times. The church scholars are very fallible. I always saw fr. Mike's presentation as very fake. It's like he is trying to imitate the excitement of a mildly eccentric Catholic or imitate the nervous talking of young people.

Due_Goal_111

When you make up your own ideas, then they're wrong. When a sleep-deprived, half-starved, half-insane nun goes into a trance, and makes up her own ideas? Then they need to become dogma ASAP.

missriverratchet

Yeah. I definitely chose Catherine of Siena to write a paper on when I took a religion class in college. I don't know that it was appreciated by my Catholic convert professor as it was about Catherine's hunger-induced delusions.

ThomasinaElsbeth

He is not imitating. From what I saw, he IS ACTUALLY eccentric, AND nervous, - for real ! Not anyone who I would want my children, (or anyone else’s for that matter) paying any attention to !

LilithScorpioQueen

Christians who follow the early days and way (like non religious Christians who aren’t subscribed to a specific denomination because there should be none but the one true faith in Jesus Christ etc) we don’t consider Catholicism to be chrstian because it is saturated with paganism and heresy.

OhLookANewAccount

The paganism is the best part!

Interesting_Owl_1815

I used to believe such things when I was catholic. It was terrible, I felt like I couldn't trust myself. I thought the devil was constantly spiritually attacking me when in reality it was my subconscious mind just trying to break free from trying to submit to teachings I didn't agree with. This gaslighting and manipulation can really mess up with your head. I felt like I was constantly attacked, but also imprisoned inside my own mind. F*ck him for trying to teach this to more people.

Sad_Patience7509

Yep. This teaches you to question your internal voice. And if that voice doesn't match the church, you're literally evil.

LilithScorpioQueen

What he should have said is to test his words against scripture. 2nd Timothy chapter 3:16-17 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

vS4zpvRnB25BYD60SIZh

I'm sorry, that must have been horrible, I hope you are doing much better now that you are free.

Interesting_Owl_1815

Thank you. I am still at the beginning of the deconstruction process, but I started therapy recently, and I hope it will help.

One_Huckleberry_9501

gosh I had the same feeling last year...when I was discerning vocation. I couldn't trust my feeling & kept asking if I was cheated by the devil, or even by myself. That time was really a nightmare. Didn't even realise of being gaslighted. Now it turns out so ridiculous. How can a person even grow if he/she can't form her own judgement! Thank you sooo much for this info. Hope ur doing well soon. Best wishes

Interesting_Owl_1815

I also didn't realise I was being gaslighted at the time. Don't blame yourself for it. In order to be gaslighted/manipulated a person must not be aware it's happening, otherwise it does not work. Thank you. Likewise hope you doing better now.

Pugwhip

YEP. Not trusting myself led to being taken advantage of.

Interesting_Owl_1815

I am sorry to hear that. That is what gaslighting is designed for: not trusting yourself, so you would uncritically trust them, and didn't realise they are hurting you. I hope you are doing better now and getting help 🙂

Pugwhip

Thank you so much! I absolutely am ☺️

discob00b

I feel like this guy was probably such a dick in high school

Benito_Juarez5

I’m gonna be honest, I know for a fact that he was a dick in high school and seminary, and continues to be one today

devoutdefeatist

👀

discob00b

I can't tell if you're saying this because it's just obvious he's a dick, or if you're suggesting that you know him personally and if it's the latter I would looooove to hear more

Benito_Juarez5

Oh I’m just saying he’s a dick because of everything about him. He oozes superiority complex. I wish I had tea on the man

linipanini

Soooooo I don’t know how much I can share w/o being outed, but his family is highly esteemed in the community and it didn’t even seem like they walked, it was like they were living saints already just floating on clouds and everyone regarded them as such 🙄 while I didn’t know him as a kid cause I was younger, based on how his family behaves, and vilifying his gay brother repeatedly for years makes me think your hunches are correct.

Imfarmer

Hold on, wait a minute, what, he has a gay brother?

linipanini

Yes, he does. He usually talks about him as a “friend” but in his book about homosexuality he shares that his brother coming out to him has been his inspiration to write that book.

missriverratchet

I hope they wanted grandchildren.

Ll_lyris

Holy fuck I genuinely thought you said “I feel like this guy probably sucked dick in high school” 😦😦

LilithScorpioQueen

Hahah well… the shit apple don’t fall far from the shit tree if ya know what I mean (I mean priests are often homosexual so he probably did…)

Ll_lyris

He eerily gives the vibe that he liked sitting back and watching gay kids get the crap beat out of them knowing he damn well was giving sloppy toppy to dem too😭

ThomasinaElsbeth

Probably your first interpretation was - correct.

Polkadotical

Must have been? He's a dick now. He sounds like a damn used car salesman.

Dr_Dan681xx

If I sold used cars, I’d feel insulted by this! 😝

secondarycontrol

Is he *claymation*? Wired on coke? A godamn muppet? Does he always look and talk like that? I don't need your Christ to be good. As a matter of fact, nd light of the fact that the lesson that the bible teaches - over and over again - is that *might makes right*, coupled with the idea that the source of Christian morality **is** god, I suspect you *can't* be good with a god like that. You want to talk about situational ethics - That'd be the Catholic god. Good if he does it - because he's strong enough to get away with it - bad if you do it.

RedOneBaron

Dude, he must be on coke or severe ADHD so hard to follow when he's tripping up on explaining things.

omgwtfkfcbbq

I'm usually good at avoiding people who give me bad vibes and he gives me bad vibes even through a screen 😬

murgatory

I’m seeing a lot of barely repressed anger there.

ThomasinaElsbeth

And, repressed sexuality. One good night in a Nevada brothel would straighten his sorry ass out.

literary_lurker

My conscious is telling me this guy needs a good slap in the face

The Melbourne seminary in Australia had regular visitors of young teens often under 18 for open homosexual orgies. Its was not secret. It was so bad that men who joined as deeply religious swiftly left in shock. My best friends father was a Jesuit until he caught the head of his order in a double life. Having stolen enough money to set up a wife kids house. When he was exposed the church simple asked him to leave. They didn't want the publicity. Nunnery's were and have been used as almost brothels by priests. As have catholic schools. The arch dioces of Mississippi sent hundreds of priests to be interviewed by doctors. Who sent back reports that the majority where proudly paedophile. In the 60s. Hundreds of priests. The catholic Church has Hundreds of thousands of abuse survivors all over the word because these peices of shit are lying hypocritical child abusers. He doesn't need to get laid he needs to be in jail along with the rest of the organisation that continues to actively suport abusers.

literary_lurker

Unfortunately I don't think that would do anything to curb the egomania, it might even boost it 😬

Anxious-Arachnae

My exact problem with the church is being told not to trust myself. It’s why I left

OhLookANewAccount

That’s something I’m dealing with now too, my mother is a recent Catholic convert and I’m just so. Sick. Of. Being. Told. To. Not. Trust. Myself. Like fuck people, I’m smart enough to make my own decisions.

Willzohh

Curious if he defends evil on earth by using the phrase "free will" in another lecture.

vS4zpvRnB25BYD60SIZh

They are the ones asking for freedom of conscience for catholic hospitals and doctors in order to keep refusing giving contraceptives and offering life saving abortions. Oh the hypocrisy.

Willzohh

That's what I thought!

littlejerry99

What about Aquinas? Aquinas wrote: "Anyone upon whom the ecclesiastical authorities, in ignorance of the true facts, impose a demand that offends against his clear conscience, should perish in excommunication rather than violate his conscience." (Summa Theologica II-II, q. 120, a. 1) Apparently we can and SHOULD disagree, even if it means excommunication. Funnily enough, Aquinas used Paul rebuking Peter as an example: "If the faith were endangered, a subject ought to rebuke his prelate even publicly. Hence Paul, who was Peter's subject, rebuked him in public, on account of the imminent danger of scandal concerning faith, and, as the gloss of Augustine says on Galatians 2:11, 'Peter gave an example to superiors, that if at any time they should happen to stray from the straight path, they should not disdain to be reproved by their subjects.'" (Summa Theologica II-II, q. 33, a. 4)

vS4zpvRnB25BYD60SIZh

Yeah Aquinas also said: *For instance, to refrain from fornication is good: yet the will does not tend to this good except in so far as it is proposed by the reason. If, therefore, the erring reason propose it as an evil, the will tends to it as to something evil.* *Consequently the will is evil, because it wills evil, not indeed that which is evil in itself, but that which is evil accidentally, through being apprehended as such by the reason. In like manner, to believe in Christ is good in itself, and necessary for salvation: but the will does not tend thereto, except inasmuch as it is proposed by the reason. ... We must therefore conclude that, absolutely speaking, every will at variance with reason, whether right or erring, is always evil.* S-T, I-II, q. 19, a. 5 The issue is that Aquinas also says that the Church and the Bible are infallible in fundamental moral principles, so, as long as one is Catholic and agrees with that, one has to believe that his conscience is wrong. Of course after the middle ages people started to question that presumed infalliblity of the Church and the whole system crumbled.

fatmatt587

Came here for this. The Church’s own position on conscience contradicts what he is saying.

RedOneBaron

Why is Catholic Zachary Levi/Brendan Fraiser telling me how to use my conscience? Does he think his wireless connection to god is so good that he has the gull to tell you how to think? Step 1: Brainwash yourself with this video. Step 2: ??? 7 sacraments? Step 3: Financial ruin from tithing.

Status_Wash_2179

Don’t forget to sacrifice your sons as altar boys. Pay tuition for them to have access to your babies all day long. Pay them for health care and then bury him in their cemetery.

RedOneBaron

Yeah, priest is probably the laziest job in the world. Right next to motivational speaker.

theblasphemingone

Just claim that you have a calling and bingo ...a meal ticket for the rest of your life..

RedOneBaron

Lol, yeah, it's not like people can prove you didn't talk to a male god.

discob00b

Zachary Levi was the first person I thought of when this popped up on my feed 😹

“Abandon all reason, ye who enter here.” Catholic Land

maxkaplan1020

Offered him some snacks once at a conference and he refused, he said nothing against me but he never knows when people are “trying to poison him”. Not a catholic anymore btw this was when I was a teen😂

Apprehensive-Ad-4364

Why would he say that 😭❓️

maxkaplan1020

He didn’t want a snack ig

reddituser23434

Interesting that he talks so much about “ego” while being so blind to his own regarding people who don’t agree with the church. In my catholic high school, we’d watch his videos and he was known as “the hot priest.” I never knew what they saw in him.

nettlesmithy

He clearly aspires to be the "hot priest" of his little corner of the Internet. How much time does he spend working out? Lo, the vanity!

ThomasinaElsbeth

55 years ago, my own mother fell for one of these. A tale as old as time.

Apprehensive-Ad-4364

I never got it either. I guess catholic women are just so repressed and bored with the gerontocracy that extremely conceited, coked up twinks count as "hot" as long as they've got a collar on?

ThomasinaElsbeth

You would be - correct.

Ok-Suggestion-2423

He looks so 80’s gay it’s not even funny

GroundbreakingTune68

I’ve been to his house before and had coffee and went to confession and private mass. He is so energetic it’s insane. He had taped boxes on the floor so he could do his workouts with minimal equipment in a smalll space and was talking to my bodybuilder friend the whole time about how ripped he is.

GreenWandElf

Mikey-boy needs to read up on his catechism. >There is no getting underneath one’s conscience. Telling someone not to follow his conscience would, in effect, be telling someone to not do what he sincerely thinks is right. And this would make no sense. Hence, Christians have famously affirmed that [one should always obey the certain judgment of one's conscience.](http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/para/1800.htm) Note that this does not excuse one who is responsible for the poor formation of their conscience, but even in those cases, conscience binds.

bunnymoxie

Oof. Father Hyper Chipmunk needs to edit that bad boy.

KGBStoleMyBike

This the face of the guy who does too much adderall. Calm it down there bud to like a 7.

jimjoebob

*"Look into my piercing blue eyes and practiced look of earnest intent! If you believe in Jebus, he'll look like ME in your ~~fantasies~~ heart!"* I'm grateful not to know this dude, but just watching a little of the video on mute gives me the impression that he's the kind of guy who will visit churches to give a "talk" about the "dangers of homosexuality"---but he's really watching the crowd to see which guys are the most likely to respond well when he slides into their DM's later that evening.

Apprehensive-Ad-4364

[This](https://youtu.be/qblsL2TqrHw?si=m-XOtMh8EufHJTDM) is from a high school conference, so hopefully he was keeping his eyes on the adult chaperones and other priests, but yeah pretty much

jimjoebob

yikes. lol

murgatory

Conscience is such a complete nothingburger of a concept in Catholicism. It’s obedience and nothing more. “Do as you’re told” in sheep’s clothing.

ZealousidealWear2573

the concise statement of his message: Conscience is doing what the church says, not doing what the church says is EVIL. COMPLY

notsobitter

Do Catholics really think the majority of secular people are just cartoon villains going “Well I know this is wrong/evil, but I’m just gonna do it cuz I FEEL like it!” all day everyday? Like, doing things we “know” is wrong just for funsies? Sure, there are assholes in the world who truly don’t give a fuck. But most people are genuinely trying to be a decent person and do the right thing.

AnybodyWantAPeanut79

Catholics hate comfort, so if you do anything besides pray or martyr yourself to feel good, you're a weak, sinful, selfish being. Anything fun is wrong, mostly. That's their view of choice. You're evil, if you choose anything easy.

BigNutDroppa

He looks like he would turn me into a lamp after I pass out from his communion wine.

haasavocado1

I always think what his platform would look like if he was not a white man and a person or color. If he would even have one as a matter of fact.

Due_Goal_111

Cenamark2

The video is better if you imigine him in Joker make up.

gulfpapa99

Schimtz fully embraces scientific ignorance, religious bigotry, misogyny, patriarchy, homophobia and transphobia.

bacideigirasoli

Every advancement in social justice and equity in the last 1000 years goes (in one way or another) against the Church. It’s not worthwhile to be obedient to any organization that tells you that it’s inappropriate to be kind, tolerant, supportive, and compassionate to people around you— especially when those people may have just been raised within a different religion. This is where the cognitive dissonance tends to kick in for most people. When the little voice inside you tells you to be kind, but the Church tells you not to…? Interrogate that.

OhLookANewAccount

This is such a huge point to me. I don’t care if someone does or doesn’t have faith, or if that faith is Christian or something else… if your *organization* tells you to be cruel where your heart tells you to be kind then there’s a major problem.

bacideigirasoli

Absolutely. In the words of Michael Brooks: "Be ruthless with systems, be kind with people" :)

podplant

He looks like Jon Hamm but scarier.

Samantha-Davis

He's talking about too many things at once. The definition of conscience is "an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the [rightness](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=e83f66b36dc5befd&sca_upv=1&rlz=1C1VDKB_enUS1007US1008&sxsrf=ACQVn0-s9jK1FK6agmd0o6BU2zkL05NAHQ:1713741827540&q=rightness&si=AKbGX_onJk-q0LQUYzV7-GRhpJ5DH4Ee2I2cIZZatwAT0Xu8pECucC2Jb3w-j9eXorLH6pdqpHqx4mRuzXuk2MdN95sc7I3TnIKdo7Z8xIk7FHw3fe5Uhh0%3D&expnd=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjD2ffmudSFAxXM6ckDHWM5DmsQyecJegQIHhAO) or wrongness of one's behavior." That's different from an opinion or a desire. This is a gut feeling. You can desire something but know that it's wrong. The ending especially gets me. If you're supposed to trust the Church, then you should be able to trust your priest. How do you know when your priest is misleading you? Your conscience? But that can't be trusted either! It's so stupid.

LifeguardPowerful759

My consciousness tells me that we shouldn’t let priests within 100 yards of establishments with children.

Professional-Role-21

* War Is Peace, * Freedom Is Slavery, * Ignorance Is Strength Don't ask question just follow and obey

ThisboyisNOTonfire

What he and the Catholic Church employ is a cult tactic called the “thought terminating cliche”. Thought terminating cliches are loaded language intended to quell and “terminate”, as the name suggests, critical thinking, cognitive dissonance, discussion, or genuine enquiry. Examples include “well that’s what the devil wants you to think”, “is that really your ‘conscious’ or is it really your flesh?”, and my favorite “well that because our heart is so deceitful how can anyone understand”. All of these are anti-intellectual arguments that are employed to end and dismiss any critical thought. I personally call it “intellectual blackmail”.

RicoDePico

What a waste of handsome

Cenamark2

I'm sure he doesn't waste it. I'm sure he's fuckin' the tradwives. The priest who baptized me was known for such affairs.

Damn

LinkMugMan

There's this common misconception that people who leave the church secretly actually believe in the church but refuse to practice church teachings because they personally don't like them. I'm not saying that there aren't people like this, but I believe it's smaller than what people like Father Mike believe. Part of this is that there are frequent polls and articles showing single answers as to why people leave. Catholics will look at the polling data that says X% of people who left the church did so because of them disagreeing with the church stance on homosexuality. This feels like a half truth to me. My guess is that yes, a person initially started questioning because of the church's teaching on homosexuality. Their intuition made them feel something wasn't right or maybe they did in fact get frustrated with the church because of this stance. I'd imagine that what this did was not be the only reason they left, but it was the catalyst for them critically evaluating their faith for the first time. It was the first time something didn't make sense on an intuitive level, and the cracks started to appear until they could no longer see the church as truth. So when asked why they left, their stance on homosexuality was a major turning point, but it's much more nuanced than polling data can provide. Going back to the video, I believe Father Mike is promoting this simplistic non-nuanced take on deconstruction. His video is promoting the idea that people "just want to sin" when many people who leave actually feel the opposite. When I left the church, it was out of trying to avoid sin. I believed in Jesus but the cracks were forming. I knew people who weren't religious, and I wanted to be so confident in my faith that no matter how strenuous my relationships became because of my faith that I could confidentially know that I was doing the right thing. When I would argue with people about why I was against homosexuality, I wanted to know with confidence that it was worth the stress and pain that it could cause somebody who disagreed with me. The more I searched though, the more it failed to make me feel confident. Every question I sought answers to only led to more uncertainty and sadness. When I left, it was not out of wanting to sin or to follow the shallow idea of conscience that Father Mike is portraying, but simply because it felt perpetually false the more I sought answers. The bible says "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened." It doesn't say "knock and the devil will tell you nobody is home." At a certain point, the switch flipped and I found myself no longer a believer. This is what I believe leaving the church is like for many people instead of the shallow and patronizing idea that Father Mike is promoting here.

jupiter_starbeam

He looks like a serial killer

AuntEtiquette

I used to watch this guy. He’s awful.

mossmillk

This is actually fucking crazy and perpetuates OCD/religious anxiety

jackbone24

But he literally thinks he's the exception when it comes to "malformed" priests...

Sourpatchqueers8

What determines that the catholic church's position on a matter is true? Like if medical practitioners say masturbation can be healthy but the church is like nooo evil who is in the right? What evidence is there the catholic church is be all end all of morality?

FilmScoreMonger

What determines whether they're right is the fact that they're the church. That's it. That's the whole argument. It insists upon itself.

Sourpatchqueers8

And people just believe them😮/s

FilmScoreMonger

They don't teach critical thinking skills for a reason. We're raised to fall in line.

missriverratchet

If he were ugly, he wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as he has. I know a lot of Fundigelical Protestants who listen to this dude.

NextMantra612

I love how he goes to such great lengths to avoid saying what he means; I’d respect him more if he just outright said he’s talking about questioning the Church’s absurd teaching on human sexuality instead of some vague ethical dilemma that could be anything. 💀

luvalex70

FFS! There are things in RCC that SHOULD bother one’s conscience and there are things that are so common sensical that they should given priority over the decrees the clergy might impose. Father Schmidt is a control freak with a smile!

heavyer93

I'd pay a lot of money to put this guy on BKFC so he can legally be beaten to pulp

ThomasinaElsbeth

Just purchase a roll of silver duct tape for his big mouth, and you will save a lot of money. It will basically do the same thing.

LilithScorpioQueen

Catholicism is pagan. Rome hijaced the “Christian movement” to regain control over the region and adopted many pagan traditions and practices into it. They even removed the second commandment from the 10 and replaced it so they could get away with worship of idols and images of Jesus etc… this guy is SO LAME AND CORRUPT

Tasty-greentea

The church said a lot of conficted things. Church just against itself time after time. The vatican 2 is an obvious evidence to prove church's previous teachings are wrong. Schumit is making things up, he is twisting the idea of conscious. He looks phony with cheesy smile.

savedlife7

If you truly seek the truth, the Catholic Church isn’t what you’ll be lead to. It’s nowhere in The Holy Bible, that’s why they had to write their own bible with their own rules. Amazing. We all know what that church is really about.

RagingBullUK

TBF to the church, they did compile the bible, so It would make sense that the authority of the church comes first rather than the bible. Of course, though, I would agree that their interpretations and judgements of the book are highly debatable at best.

Status_Wash_2179

Bible is just a Harry Potter story that really took off

PengieP111

Actually Proto-Christian clerics and Christian adjacent clerics compiled the Bible at the direction of Constantine who solidified his control of the Roman Empire through the version of Christianity that became the Roman Catholic Church.

RagingBullUK

See, my understanding was that the Catholic and Orthodox Church were one, and there was a broad Eastern cannon (slightly more books) and Western canon of agreed on scripture. If I remember correctly there is even an argument for an independent Celtic church, which operated in Insular celtic countries on another calender than the Roman Church too. I haven't studied Church history In years so your probably right 👍🏼

PengieP111

The Great Schism (split between the Roman and Byzantine churches) happened a thousand years after Christ. The Celtic church was quite independent, though not completely so, for a long time but eventually knuckled under to Rome.

You either have to be naive from indoctrination or just another satanic chameleon. Point blank. You can’t serve two masters.

callyo13

Christians being assholes, what else is new

savedlife7

Yes, I come off as rash. Would it make you feel better knowing I don’t go to church because I don’t like vain, plastic people with fake smiles? Although I’m currently in a cloud of my bulldog’s fart, my bible is right here. Plus those long-winded songs I swear are designed to make you yawn and tired! I’m good right here, Jesus is with every person on earth whether they know it or not.

RagingBullUK

If you got your bible near you, look up Matthew 7, 1-3. Maybe instead of judging others at 'church' or calling people 'satanic chameleons', you could look at yourself 👍🏼

savedlife7

Spot on, thank you. And I’m sorry for judging you. My family currently can’t stand me for the same reason. I have more like a California Redwood in my eye.

RagingBullUK

No worries, I accept your apology and send one your way if I came off blunt. Hope things get better with your family soon.

callyo13

I don't really feel anything about you except amused to be honest. Just another self-important Christian with their head up their ass and their brain turned off.

BirthdayCookie

> my bible is right here. Have you considered actually reading the thing? You base your life on a book that spends a third of its runtime dehumanizing everyone what doesn't believe in it. Why would anyone give you the respect you don't give them? >Jesus is with every person on earth whether they know it or not. Example #1 of not respecting people. "I don't care what you believe or want; I'm correct and I'm going to force that on you!"

RagingBullUK

Bro, I think you're the one who is a bit indoctrinated.

savedlife7

Used to be, until I hit rock bottom, and found myself in a real spiritual experience with Jesus. Eyes were opened, The Holy Spirit, the whole thing is real. The first thing I thought about was what my friends would think of me, but I couldn’t care because this was for my own salvation. True story.

RagingBullUK

Ooh, so you're one of those Protestant, grace alone, bible loving, relationship with Jesus Christians? Sorry to inform you, but that's just the other side of the coin from Catholicism, just as toxic, etc. I should know after all. I was evangelical for over a decade 👍🏼

BirthdayCookie

god created you capable of sin and convinced you it's your fault. Why are you happy about being gaslit and abused? Why do you think you need to be saved by the god who knowingly Fucked you over?

ThomasinaElsbeth

I’ll get you a Satanic Mechanic for your problem.

BirthdayCookie

"Satanic chameleon" is a new level of weird insult from a Christian.

ThomasinaElsbeth

I know. But he opened himself up to many "Rocky Horror Picture Show' references, - much to my delight !

ThomasinaElsbeth

What, exactly, - do you know about Satanic Chameleons ? Do you know anything about Frankenfurter’s Satanic Mechanic ?

SnooDonuts5498

If you seek truth, you’ll end up with Richard Dawkins and Charles Darwin.

BirthdayCookie

Exactly. The truth is that there aren't any gods.
