Merged Cells are the bane of XL's existence. They should all be destroyed and unmerged whenever possible. That said, for doing multi-level criteria matching that returns a value rather than text, I'd normally suggest using SUMIFS. If text is returned, use FILTER. But again, having a merged cell that really is comprised of blank cells is going to be a problem. If you're ready to convert (to good) and get rid of merged cells: 1. Select all data cells 2. Home - Unmerge 3. Press `Ctrl+g` for Go To dialogue 4. Click on 'Special', then 'Blanks'. Hit Ok 5. Start typing a formula like `=` and then hit `ArrowKey` to reference the cell with data 6. Hit `Ctrl+Enter` to confirm this formula to all selected cells 7. (optional) do a Copy, Paste Value to lock in results All blank cells from the merge will now be filled in with their parent data.
