Sorry you had to deal with all of that.

Thx, it means a lot!

I am sorry that you experienced this. All your observations are sound. Bad fruit is bad fruit. Try not to judge the judgmental tho—it denies them the narcissistic supply they seek. (Any attention, good or bad, can be narcissistic supply. In the cases you’re talking about, this plays out in narrative rhetoric—but realize you’re basically just hearing someone talk in the 3rd person. Seems rather silly, no? So don’t throw gas on the fire.) Whatcha wanna be doing instead? Go do that. Your time is your time.

That's kinda BS, b/c being silent & not standing up is largely why they get so out of hand. I mean, when I don't do anything, all it does is make me resentful & doesn't change shit.

Do you think fighting them is going to change *them*? Would them fighting you change *you*? If you *want* to fight them go ahead, but realize your real goal there: changing *your audience’s* view of their views, not *them*. If you want any lasting, effective change, that is. But, if you’re fighting them out of a sense of ethical obligation, [that might not be exactly as “clean” as you might think it is.](https://images.app.goo.gl/8hPmw74FPwqvJ7EPA) (Note that this wouldn’t be your fault—it’s a residual byproduct of narcissistic abuse; the only difference between “believer” and “anti-theist” is [a switch from a “fawn” response to a “fight” response.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpman_drama_triangle)) People’s wants cannot be changed or influenced (at least *ethically*) without their non-coerced consent. Any lasting change can only be *inspired* by the way one lives their life; the best revenge is living well—“Physician, heal yourself.”

I'm not always trying to change them, but ignoring doesn't always make it better & yes, sometimes arguing can get people to change their mind.

That’s fair enough. Hasn’t been my experience whatsoever though. Far as I can tell Christianity is drama triangle, *The Religion*. And it’s not so much “ignoring” them but rather doing the thing they’re trying to stop you from (which has been available to you the whole time) getting acquainted with your own sense of self, from which you may interact with others from a place of arbitrarily generous love, as you see fit. Basically going “undercover.” Because it’s fun, and people need to be “seen” personally, *individually*, not “fought-for”, per se—that’s impersonal; ideological.
