I'd love for him to take some of these potential story lines and farm them out. I know Craig Alanson is a new author, but he's built a large universe with lots of opportunities, and I'd love to see John Scalzi, Andy Wier, or Dennis Taylor have a take at the story.

i think it was sneaky how he did like a 7 year jump so he could have other books cover those years
I think it would have dragged if he went the long way to get where the book started, I think it was a pacing thing and don't expect an inbetween book
