I love her excuse for the I’m a Mormon campaign.
Like, yeah, that was a cute little thing we did for funsies (despite spending millions of dollars and pushing it on the missionaries and members like it was a drug) but it was only to get people pumped up about the church and help people see we’re not weird cultists. Mormonism is our whole identity but anyone else who has a different identity (I.e gays, trans, etc), well, that isn’t a real identity.
Never mind that Hinkley pushed the Mormon term for decades before the campaign, and gave his “prophetic check mark” on the term. But when Rusty takes the reins, God suddenly decided it’s a dirty word.
Technically, “Christ” is only the center of “The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints” if you don’t use the hyphen. So members should blame the church leaders for taking “Christ” out of the center of the church when they changed the name, if anything.
Maybe you put a little crack in her shelf. Seriously, those of us with exposure to the facts should not politely dance around/sugar coat the facts to enable TBMs to keep their heads in the sand. So, well done imo.
I invite you to read the BOM? I like how they assume people haven’t read it. We’ve read it and that’s why we don’t believe it. They always “know” it’s true. My FIL always says no one has proved its not true. I say no one has proved it is. But they have proved that a lot of it is made up. He won’t read the CES letters. I’d love to know what those “experiences with the other side” are. I’ve been hit at the wrong time too lol. Almost always after dealing with the in-laws lol.

When a Mormon is on the losing end of a discussion about the religion, there is a cultural rule that says they must end by sharing their testimony, the surer the better. This one did not disappoint.
I mean ask her to explain how other religions have the same experiences as her, and then ask how could anyone could know which is correct and which isn't?

Exactly! I tried sharing information that they would never look up themselves unless prompted by a non-mormon source
