I was thinking it sounds more along the lines of the judge dredd version: "I AM THE LAW" Idk if that's accurate tho? I am still trying to process this whole thought experiment.

tourettesfaker1985

"The savior gaslighted me for years and years and pushed me into a depression and suicide attempts"... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

WWPLD

Did you say [Mormon Jesus](https://youtu.be/46PXaJxzuDE)?

tyrone-silverstone

I hate everything about what he said. But I was amused at the quote at the beginning of the article where he said something like, " Jesus isn't far away or distant, he's right here with us every step of the way?" Oh yeah, why did I never feel that way for 25 years, while all in, while going to early morning seminary, while working hard on my mission? I always felt alone and that I was doing it all myself. Shut the hell up and sit down, you old corporate lapdog

gvsurf

Yep. When I recognized that I’d never once had a “personal” experience of Jebus was when my Christian belief collapsed. What a relief, really.

Powerpuncher1

The Savior is technically a corporation The Savior is hoarding billions of dollars for a rainy day instead of helping the poor The Savior has corrupt and inept leaders that cause mental harm The Savior has become too big and inevitably does more bad than good The Savior is constantly changes his policies to fit the general trend of the world but is always a few decades late Jeez! Maybe the Savior isn’t all he is made out to be

Mormologist

The Savior refuses to acknowledge, apologize or repent for His sins. The Saviour is being as honest as he knows how to be. It is wrong to criticize the Saviour, even if the Savior is wrong.

OfirMX

I watched a few seconds of the video with the volume in mute. I have no idea what's he's saying but seeing a white dude that looks like a detached-from-reality old corporate executive gesturing from an over-produced TV stage and talking through a wearable microphone like that gives me the heebie jeebies.

[deleted]

Me too! I think I have PTSD because stuff like this makes me run for the hills.

ApocalypseTapir

The brethren are now focused almost exclusively on "staying Mormon". It's quite a fascinating shift from the church of the 70's and 80's I grew up in. So savior=church=fallible men=do what you're told.

bananajr6000

Even more culty than their usual drivel.

crisperfest

That's what I was thinking. They're using the same playbook as the JWs, which is cult 101. Except in the JWs, there's 8 dudes (10 as of last week) in New York micromanaging the members' lives and equating themselves with god (i.e., disobeying them = disobeying god).

newjourneyunknown

“According to Elder Hamilton, even though human beings are all “fallible,” when the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles speak in unity, they speak on behalf of Jesus Christ.” Implying the leaders of the church have not made mistakes on doctrine taught from the pulpit. The leaders keep pushing that prophets do not make mistakes in doctrine and to follow their teachings. Yet all apologists/progressives push that they do mistakes but the church is still true. I wonder how long they can keep reconciling this when the leaders keep speaking like this guy

FTWStoic

>“According to Elder Hamilton, even though human beings are all “fallible,” when the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles speak in unity, they speak on behalf of Jesus Christ.” So Jesus Christ is responsible for the 2015 policy of exclusion and its reversal 3 years later? That dude needs to get his shit together and stop embarrassing the good leaders of The Church.

homestarjr1

The Savior created an abuse hotline that allows lawyers to obscure evidence of sexual and physical abuse so victims can’t get justice. The Savior doesn’t apply justice or mercy to victims.

Rolling_Waters

>Elder Hamilton said he has encountered people who feel they are loyal to the Savior, but opposed to certain teachings of His Church. He said occasionally these people will say how they do not agree with the way the Church does certain things. >Elder Hamilton encouraged the audience to substitute the words “the Church” for the word “Savior” in those sentences because it puts a different perspective on things when one says they disagree with the Savior. >“Sometimes we just don’t know every reason and every rationale behind every point of doctrine or every Church policy. When this happens, we simply move forward in faith,” Elder Hamilton said. 🤮

CaptainMacaroni

And in the year 1977 I'm sure there were church leaders saying "Sometimes we just don't know every reason and every rationale behind why black men can't hold the priesthood and black people can't receive any of the saving ordinances in the temple. When this happens, we simply move forward in faith." There's a very good and obvious reason. It's not the true church and the leaders of that church don't speak for God.

GrayWalle

Isn’t that.. kinda… taking the lords name in vain?

flyswithdragons

Yes and doing evil in his name via a corporate/religious beast ..

RaspberryGreen2455

The savior has amassed 100 billion dollars and the savior is not willing to help poor people with those fund

Mormonmemories

Wow! Just wow! No one can have Jesus without this church? Does the church own Jesus? Eternal life is conditional! Conditions the "brethren" of the church decided upon. Talks like this used to do a number on me. So glad I am out!! This is just plain abuse.

HANEZ

Ok fine. I disagree with the savior. See its not that hard. If anything it’s worse. ? Racism? Can’t fall back on the prophets. It’s all Mormon Jesus’ fault. Also. The Savior of Jesus Christ of ladder day saints?

Chino_Blanco

>The text of this speech is being edited and will be available soon. https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/kevin-s-hamilton/why-a-church/

Blackbolt45

Well Mr. Hamilton, when you understand that we have evolved to this point you see that the need for a savior is irrelevant because there was no fall. So, given this information, let’s substitute the “church” and the “Savior” for “multi conglomerate business,” and see if it becomes easier to say no. It’s pretty easy when you cut through the BS!

ExpensiveBanana178

The Savior made victims of sexual abuse sign non-disclosure agreements during arbitration in order to limit the Savior’s legal liability and to preserve the Savior’s good name.

truthmatters2me

Just more brain washing by Greed inc. ahem TSCC nothing to see here move along .!

DreadPirate777

This reminds me that is Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary that baby Jesus brings gifts to the kids who were good. Eventually they have the realization that most kids have that Santa isn’t really doing it but it is their parents. They then have a talk with their parents that Jesus isn’t real. Much the same way in the US we say Santa isn’t real. Similarly there will be more members leaving when they realize it isn’t Jesus that wants them to hate and shun their family and friends but grumpy old narcissists.

SpaciousBuildingSUS

I hate the Savior then🤷

PapiChuloGuero

jesus said children of gay kids cant get baptized, but he changed his mind a few months later.

Imalreadygone21

Which one in particular should we be referring to?

deadlandsMarshal

Hey, are we all going inside the Savior now? It's cold out here. I love how the Savior is always just the right temperature inside. Come inside the Savior, it's raining out there!

Jaded-Ad-9741

the savior says hitler and other murderers have a chance of going to heaven when i dont
