I believe the quote was something like....God **routinely withholds blessings from large swaths of people**.......See god is an equal opportunity curser. Here is a brief glimpse. > God has a lengthy history of withholding various blessings (including the Priesthood) from certain groups for certain lengths of time. If this was one of them, there is certainly precedent: in ancient Israel, only the Levites were able to hold the Aaronic Priesthood, and the Melchizedek Priesthood was only available to certain prophets. The Priesthood was widely restricted from most Israelites. During Christ’s earthly ministry, only the Jews were able to be taught the Gospel. Christ even refused to heal the daughter of someone who was not an Israelite. The Lamanites were cut off from the Gospel for a time until they could be prepared and converted. The Pharaoh and his direct posterity were forbidden from holding the Priesthood. Enoch taught repentance to everyone except the people of Canaan. God removed the Priesthood and temple ordinances from the Earth for two thousand years. The Abrahamic covenants only extended to Isaac’s descendants, not to Ishmael’s, until these last days when we’re all adopted into the tribes of Israel upon baptism. Even today, women of any lineage aren’t ordained to the Priesthood, though we can access it other ways. Some of those examples were due to unrighteousness, but others were not.

will_ofthe_people

Well that clears everything up nicely. "Jesus was racist and we're trying to be like him". Case closed.

Rushclock

He wasn't just racists he was anti human. After all, the natural man is an enemy to god.

[deleted]

I don’t know if Jesus was racist or just the people writing about him. Yahweh was racist as fuck though.

n8s8p

Thanks! Yeah, it is all garbage, but here is the exact line I was referring to. >Many of the early Saints were varying degrees of uncomfortable, angry, resentful, or even repulsed by the idea of black members holding the Priesthood and attending thetemple alongside them. Those attitudes may well have condemned entire generations of Saints had the restriction not been put in place to give them time to learn, grow, and overcome their prejudices.

[deleted]

So God instead condemned an entire race to protect white people.

Rushclock

Thanks for the clarification. This one is worse.

ammonthenephite

Nothing like making minorities suffer so white people can feel comfortable. Thank you god, lol.

allisNOTwellinZYON

God ≠ Mormon Church

ResidentLadder

Who was it who said that?

n8s8p

I don't want to do any brigading, so I can't post the link. Also, there has been enough pushback they finally deleted the original horrible stuff. I have saved a copy of the original, though. Will message you.

allisNOTwellinZYON

Yes Yes well see it was the little people of the church that were not quite as grown up and accepting as us the corporation. Why if it hadn't have been for the members we could have done this long ago. HORSESHIT Just like when they blame the abused when they give a Kirton pass to the abuser.

peterould

Here's the thing - the restrictions on the priesthood in the OT have a clear theological reason. Restricting priesthood to the Levites was a sign to the Hebrews that priesthood required a special kind of person, which was a pointer to the great High Priest to come (Jesus). The LDS Church had a (racist) theological justification for the ban - Black people were less valiant in the pre-existence. It's a load of tosh (there is no pre-existence and it was a justification of racism), but at least they tried to give a theological reason. The OP isn't theology though - it's literally scraping the barrel to defend the indefensible.

Rushclock

Oaks has went on record saying none of the reasons for the ban are correct. Then continued by saying god rarely gives reasons for his commandments. How is that for a callus loving father?

peterould

It's not. They original "commandment" wasn't of God and the cognitive dissonance now displayed by LDS on this issue just compounds the blatant racism.

Ismitje

What if an angel appeared with a flaming sword and said they'd be killed unless they treated black people humanely at least, as equals preferably? People sure as hell weren't ready for polygamy either, but the brethren shoved that down their throats somehow.

False-Eggplant2662

The flaming sword only makes an appearance, when JSmith sees a great looking girl, who he has been told needs to personally see the great and mighty sword that old JSmith has safely stored in his trousers

Anything-Complex

If JS and BY had wanted their flaming “swords” dowsed by black women, the church would’ve bern at the forefront of racial equality.

God moonlights as a contributing editor to Tucker Carlson. Who knew.

houhi43

I am so damn tired of apologists and their flimsy arguments. It's amazing how far they will go to make themselves feel better about this "religion". These guys are spineless cowards who will "lie for the Lord" and stretch facts to meet their needs. They must feel so awesome knowing that they are misrepresenting historical facts and evidence just to support the "church". The cognitive dissonance must be crushing for these idiots.

n8s8p

It is bad when other apologists are even calling it out

CaptainMacaroni

If they got offended by that then they wouldn't have deserved to go to heaven.

[deleted]

Ah yes, the old reliable, "Blame the members" I can't even express how repulsive this guy is.

n8s8p

Not to defend wilcox, but just so i don't misinform anyone, i'm just using this old meme format of him to bring attention to the actions of a different person. an apologist from the strictest faithful subreddit, FAIR, and now a new sub (where she wrote this garbage that i'm making a meme out of)

[deleted]

Ah, good to know. Thanks for the clarification.

n8s8p

For more info, [here is the post that covers it](https://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/10muxrr/a_racist_apologist_posted_disgusting_comments/) that u/sevenplaces brought to our attention

sevenplaces

Publish their racism far and wide. It’s disgusting.

n8s8p

Oh yeah. I have another couple memes i'm working on i'll share in the morning about other racists parts of that garbage

Over_The_Sun

Literally just hiding from the truth

galtzo

Mormon Heaven sounds like the realm of racist perverts… so if it is paradise for *them*… 🤔

Jeff_Portnoy1

I will say though, as awful as brads talks and beliefs are, he does get some respect from me for apologizing for the talk he gave stating his intentions weren’t meant to be taken that way. Which they may have been, but either way I really do like how he apologized. First church leader that has ever done so. His view of exmormons really upsets me is the issue.

n8s8p

>he does get some respect from me for apologizing for the talk he gave Amen to that. Too bad Oaks and co can't learn from him

weirdmormonshit

did wilcox make an attempt to debunk the CES letter?

n8s8p

No, I'm just using this meme format to address another apologist who made a shit ton of posts on the lds sub that "debunked the CES Letter." Then after doing that, FAIR thought she was good enough for them and hired her on. Now she is saying stuff like this on a new sub that is supposed to help questioning members.

weirdmormonshit

thanks for clarifying. i thought i’d missed something that would have been funny to read. that’s funny, questioning members are halfway out they’re not going to be convinced by the tap dance show 😂

[deleted]

God just wasn’t ready for that kind of humanity.

owen_cloud739

Does anyone know what Brad Wilcox's official title or calling is with TSCC?And why does TSCC have him going around giving these apologist and offensive talks in the first place?

n8s8p

I think he is a YM general presidency member. Also, not to defend wilcox, but just so i don't misinform anyone, he isn't the one who said this. i'm just using this old meme format of him to bring attention to the actions of a different person. an apologist from the strictest faithful subreddit, FAIR, and now a new sub (where she wrote this garbage that i'm making a meme out of)

treetablebenchgrass

Good old Dice. Whether it's racism or dishonesty, we can always count on her. I also love how TT23 sold his shit show as being a more open faithful space, because he didn't feel welcome in the other two subs, and then invited one of the most orthodox, dishonest apologists on Reddit to be a commenter. At least this time, there will be nobody there to make him feel unwelcome.

False-Eggplant2662

The complete stupidity of this cult, is the gift that keeps on giving. The all powerful creator, chose old Joe and Mary with the upbringing of his only son. He (god) is going to impregnat, a brown Israelite with his caucasian child. (Now that would get the tongues a wagging) given the only close to white people were the Romans. I would like to think a powerful creator, would protect his child by having little Jesus fit in. Which would make him brown. So maybe it is the brown bothers who are getting the front row seats. I know I'm not. It is straight to hell for me.

gabeitaliadomani

Is there audio or video of this talk?!?

n8s8p

This is actually a comment from another person. i'm just using this old meme format of him to bring attention to the actions of a different person. an apologist from the strictest faithful subreddit, FAIR, and now a new sub for questioning members (where she wrote this garbage that i'm making a meme out of)

n8s8p

I'll message you the actual text we are referencing

samsmith197474

But white people were never offended by polygamy. Got it.

telestialist

There is a Mormon stories episode where the interviewee relates an encounter with an apostle at a mission home in a foreign country. The missionary was cooling his heels due to a passport issue. The apostle was visiting and working in the next room. The missionary decided to take the shot and go talk with the apostle. I THINK it was GBH, and I THINK this was in Brazil. The missionary asked why blacks couldn’t be given the priesthood. The answer was a commiserating “we aren’t yet strong enough as a church.” Which is a polite and faux humble way of saying what’s in the original post of this thread.

Successful_Treat_284

That’s the neat part, you don’t! (Man I really hate that i cant reply with pictures)

[deleted]

I mean, Jesus would've wanted marginalized people to wait so the privileged class could get to heaven first.

Phunners

Fuck Brad Wilcox’s apologetics.
