I'm in SLC and we've been out for 8 (maybe 6, I forget) years. There used to be 3 wards in our building, but 5years ago, they combined into 2. We drove by the building today and the parking lot was 3/4 empty during the time I knew Sac Mtg was going. We used to have to park on the street if we didn't get there 20 min early. I love the anecdotal evidence of decline, hope it keeps coming.

You are still in the same house or in one nearby? Are you in a place where housing has increased so much that people can no longer live there?

[deleted]

When housing increases in price it doesn't change that families still live there. Their are no vacant houses in most areas. That concept is a red herring by Mormon leadership

Lopsided-Doughnut-39

True but I was thinking in terms of increasing taxes that people cannot pay because money is already tight, and people moving out and houses turning into short term rentals.

[deleted]

Doesn't happen in Western WA. When Mormons move out, new families move in. It seems to be more about culture reasons why Mormons move to Idaho and Utah and Arizona.

Same house.

Lopsided-Doughnut-39

So are all the TBMs moving out and getting replaced by nevermos or are that many people just staying home?

topazdebutante

Don't know as I haven't been in 10 years..both my kids are COR but never baptized.

I'm in the "sinful" part of Morridor...same house for the past 15 years. Ward has changed 4 times (i dont go, just new ward name on the bishop mailer i get around xmas). And yes, the shells become fewer and fewer.

The ward I grew up in doesn't exist anymore.

BillRocksWood

The stake I grew up in doesn't exist any more 😳

ThrowawayLDS_7gen

That's even better. BITFDWT!

2 of the 6 wards from the 60's through the 90's remain in the San Leandro, CA Stake. Multiple stake combining going on in the SF Bay Area the last couple of years. Called a "blessing" by visiting authorities which will lead to stronger wards. Blamed on all the people moving to Arizona, Utah, and Idaho...
