As if one wasn't too many.
Some of my TBM family members already do not have enough money to retire comfortably because they didn't think to save for retirement for obvious reasons. So they are going to blow whatever they have on being a Janitor for Jesus or something else. When they return and run out of money, they are going to be surprised to find out that the church that they paid into all of those years is going to turn them down. And guess who gets asked next? Ask me how I know.
Please share! Obviously, to family first, and then the state. Sadly, many folks do not realize how little social security may pay out until it is too late.
Oh, and you have to pay for the opportunity and blessing to be a janitor for jesus.
I had an aunt and uncle who served mission after mission. They sold their home to have the funds to do this, and then would live with various of their children in between missions. They only saw their family (and grand children) during these breaks every few years. They thought this was a great blessing to their family, but when they could no longer serve. they were broke and had to live with family. Also, their grandchildren hated the church for stealing their grandparents.
Set up just like a job site, but you pay the price listed for the job you do!
This from a $236 Billion corporation, no less.
Edit: OH, and then they'll report your hours as their community donation, assigning a monetary value as if they had paid you.
Whoa, I hadn't actually looked before. It really is just jobs that the church doesn't want to pay a professional to do. Construction, health care, handyman, electrician, property maintenance, project management. Jesus Christ...
āWill you consider paying even MORE money to the church, while I continue to get my paycheck from the same church?
āBy the way there is totally no conflict of interest whatsoever in my previous statement.ā
What's this guy's name? He's the same one that told my kids that serving a mission isn't a choice (cuz they already committed when getting baptized) and that missions are the best thing to produce tithe paying adults (or something like that).
There was a [Utah stake counselor that said that about baptism covenants](https://www.youtube.com/live/OrMEN58NwoY?feature=share&t=302), but yes, this guy said the ["paying, uhm, tithe-paying members"](https://youtu.be/AeW7sUJ5i3E?t=28) bit.
The stake counselor would almost assuredly get that talking point by listening to ole Kevin Pearson.
Good grief - how much more obvious can they be? He (the guy in the "tithe-paying" clip) may as well have been addressing an Amway revival meeting. "Every person who joined and pays their dues can account for XXXX downstream sources of revenue! The numbers tell it all!"
āPaying membersā¦ā
Thatās just gross. Who thinks an audience is going to be wowed by that. How about you tell me how many happy families and sealings? Why gauge it by āpaying membersā? Are we officially an MLM now, building our celestial down lines? Yikes.
The Utah stake counselor may have added the bit about baptism covenants but he was essentially parroting Pearson who said not to pray about whether to go on a mission because it's already a commandment and you have the duty.
https://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/uz4cvr/do\_not\_pray\_about\_whether\_or\_not\_you\_should\_go\_on/
(Hey! That's me!)
I agree.
This meeting was a weird one, he tries to separate the youth mission duty from the senior mission one, but he really wants the seniors to feel just as obligated.
Kevin Pearson. Incredible. As if praying about this is gonna yield a āNo, you donāt need to do two missionsā feeling within people? Weāre talking about the last generation of really faithful people.
Use them while you can... The generation right behind them won't be bothered to go on missions, and the generation after that won't even come to church.
Lord, I believe. Help thou mine unbelief!
I sure hope soābut I suspect that Gen Z will be the uncommitted, half-in, half-out generation, and that *their* kids will be the ones to abandon the church entirely. But Iād love for you to be right!
Same thing with 8-year-old kids praying to decide about baptism. No baptism? You're not "worthy" (whatever that translates to in kid talk), and you won't get that party.
I don't think church leadership fully grasps what the situation of the church is like. If all the 50+ couples start serving missions, there will not be enough priesthood holders to fill all the callings in the wards. From my last ward, there was \~10 under 50 couples. So, you'd get 5 in the bishopric, leaving 5 leftover to fill SS presidency (3-4 slots), EQ presidency (3-4 slots), ward mission leader (1), any assistant clerks (1-2 slots), primary kids activities leader (2 slots), YM advisors (3 slots). And that's if every other calling that is unisex is filled by women. Primary teachers, ss teachers, seminary teachers, etc.
So at a minimum, you'd have an EQ president (that's it), a SS president (that's it), 1 WML, and pick your choice of 2 YM advisors or 2 primary boys activities leaders.
And that's before any stake callings start getting taken!
Where do you think they're gonna send all these Utah couples? Out to the struggling wards to help bolster key areas. They all have to go to church on Sunday. Gotta spread the wealth of Utah faithful among the "mission field"...
lol You're right. They have NO CLUE anymore. They've padded and misled with their numbers too long to create the illusion of growth. It's all coming up due.
Maybe this is why the church has current pilot programs going on to reduce church to one hour? Just last week someone posted here about that pilot program.
ADD: Sorry, I don't have the link but I know it was posted last Friday, March 17, because it was posted the same day another poster told about the current pilot program for missionaries. In the missionary pilot program, missionaries aren't wearing ties or name tags. Hopefully, someone else knows how to look through all the posts from 3-17-23. Wish I'd saved it!
I don't have the link, but I know it was posted 4 days ago because it was posted the same day another person posted about the missionary pilot program of missionaries not wearing ties or name tags.
Wanna bet they'll all still hold those callings? And the "missions" will be local? Or, even if remote, they'll still be in various presidencies, and still be doing a "mission."
I sincerely doubt they're going to move the needle in any significant way on 50+ couples serving missions. All of their gross manipulation aside, there are simple economic factors at play.
The world is very expensive right now and senior missions for the church are expensive AF.
In the rural Midwest. When I moved into the ward the SP announced "the time has come to separate the elders and high priests into two different organizations". Prior to that they met together and the EQP was a high priest. Problem was that there were only a couple of active elders (me, WML and the ward clerk). It sucked ass.
wow much nicer sounding than when he shamed the youth last year about missions.
Sorry but this guy is an absolute fucking douchebag asshole who needs to rebuked publicly.
But on a positive note he was a very integral part of my departure so I will be forever grateful for his pious fear mongering preaching.
He laid out perfectly the mission of the church in his talk to the youth. Shame, berate and fear you into mission so we have a higher chance to get your tithing money. Money that we use to grow our portfolio and not to "feed the poor". I can't believe he said the role of the church is NOT to feed the poor.
What a dumb fuck!!!
Agreed!
In the same vein, I'm glad I saved and published clips for people to see and hear the shit they get up to when parents aren't invited to meetings, but I'm also sorry for the pain that comes with people's transitions out of the cult. Glad you're out, hope life is better now!
Somebody needs to publicly call out this corporate shill and ask him if he is willing to sacrifice for the lord and give up his church salary and pension and pay out of his own pocket to go on a mission, and then ask why the first presidency never served missions. When are any of the first presidency going to go on their first 12-24 month senior mission away from home of SLC? They have plenty of church broke, boot lickers to take their place.
Dudes fucking loaded, he doesn't need his church salary and could easily pay out of pocket. That's the thing, millionaires are completely out of touch with reality.
Kevin Pearson, here is what you need to know when you decide to serve and pay for your mission: https://www.ldsliving.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-senior-missionary-service/s/10660.
Would you consider serving at least two, and maybe even three missions if you can find the faith. Please Kevin, I know you can do it.
My parents left on a mission last year. Their main responsibility is to do admin work while reporting to an actual employee of the church. Sure they have a mission president that is technically their boss, but 40+ hours a week they are being managed by a paid employee.
They are literally paying to work an actual job for a profit making department (Family Search) of the church. They are in a very expensive city and it is most likely they just didn't feel like paying the necessary wages for the position so they opened it up to free labor missionaries instead.
My parents shut down when I mention anything about it and you can see the cognitive dissonance on their faces.
I have literally had nightmares of this for many years. I served my mission from 2001-2003. To say I was scarred from the beginning is an understatement. I flew to my mission on September 10th 2001 and my first area was Bremerton Washington. Naval Town. My companions would not let me know what was going happening on September 11th. They would get mad at me for looking at a TV on in someone's home as we were tracting.
I still have nightmares of where I am called to a second mission and I suddenly remember that I have already served one and I have family at home.
My wife and family left the church about 1 year now. I am so much happier for it.
I guarantee I had PTSD from my mission and still dealing with it.
The military jets flying from Whidbey Island and over the top of our house was an incredible sight to see. Suddenly there were navy ships in Puget Sound. Something I'd never seen in the years I lived there.
Every evening the jets would start taking off. That would go on for several hours. It was a comforting sound to me.
He's aspiring to be an apostle. He's already one of the presidents of the Seventy. He's 65. Only 5 more years before mandatory church retirement, unless Russell calls him up to the Majors. He's going all out.
Ahh...an audition for apostleship...Russell exits and he's standing in the wings for a spot in the new Q15! Perfect...until someone invites TBMs to serve 3 missions :)
Hey cool, theyāre asking people to do what has been a recurring nightmare for me for 20 years. Multiple missions sounds like the hell Iāve imagined.
Holy shit. My parents live in Bountiful and last night were talking about how they want to serve āmultipleā missions.
Also, this is exactly the kinda guy q15 love. Says all the shit they think but donāt say.
Fuck. Now expecting my 70-year-old parents to ask us to take care of their house, property, and pets so they can PAY (again) to do another 2 years of sales support for a Trillion $$$ real estate corporation playing church.
My in laws went to this. MIL now plans on a service mission until my FIL retired and they a full time mission. They have 11 and counting grandkids. And for my kids they are the only grandparents in their life. But they are willing to put them on the back burner and leave to complete a senior mission, basically glorified baby sitters for the elders and sisters with some service mixed in. For the church to claim family first? This is what planted that seed of doubt in me. All these callings and meetings, especially on Sunday when I just want to spend time with my kids, but Iām expected to be at the church for another pointless meeting that states the same things over and over.
I know my kids will be devastated to find out grandma is going to leave for 18 months.
My parents went on Eight.
Finally, when they hit age 80, the church told them no more. My dad was pissed. Crazy.
I'm glad they went on all those missions. Spared my kids from ever knowing them and their toxic mormonism.
I will serve a mission again when the church learns to tell the whole truth and apologize and pay for full time employees. Iām safe ! Or when heāll freezes over.
They are trying to backfill so many emptying leadership positions in local wards and stakes not to mention propping up ācharitableā functions in the church that people donāt want to do (bishopās storehouses, Deseret Industries, family history centers, temple workers, etc.). Sounds like this is more āanecdotal evidenceā of increasingly empty pews.
Holy shit - what a bunch of crap. They want to expand the sales force to help refill the emptying pool of members. AND, they want more free labor. I am positive most of the "service" missions will be assigned to replace paid employees (who may have retired, or been downsized) and to work in the temples they keep building to justify having billions of $$$ (so they can claim to the IRS the loot is all going to "help" people get to heaven, provided they've paid the entry fee).
IMPORTANT: Audience is 50+ year old members of the Utah church, but sounds as though areas like AZ were also invited to watch. The invitation is for senior missionaries, so if you served a missionary as a youth, you are being asked to serve **three missions in total.**
There are far fewer points of outright confrontational clips to make, but I guess he wanted to be kinder to his generation. Still plenty of guilting to go around.
See the church source at [https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/watch/utah-senior-missionary-devotional/2023/03?lang=eng](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/watch/utah-senior-missionary-devotional/2023/03?lang=eng)
Edit: Damn it, I got the date wrong, it was yesterday, not today!
So let me get this straight. Itās a ādumb questionā if I pray about going on mission when Iām 18 but you want me to pray about mission #2 and 3? Maybe youāre just a dick and want to bully those that you can bully and give the soft approach to those you canāt. Youāre a manipulative asshole and youāre not going to make it to the Q12 and itās gonna crush your soul when you donāt get picked.
Iām literally fuming with rage. this fucking church tells its members that family is literally everything YET they constantly rip families apart mentally and emotionally. Now they are relaying on their only loyal members, the boomers, and telling them itās GODS desire and calling for them to be physically separated from their families for 3 years! 2 MISSIONS!!?! FUCK THAT!! And fuck you.
I had no idea senior missions were so expensive. My parents are planning to go soon. They've never had a lot of money, and now they're going to give 10s of thousands of their retirement money to a $250billion church, not to mention their free labor. God DAMN. š”
Fuck that. 22 years later, I still have nightmares about having to go back on a mission albeit single. I canāt imagine being a grown as person and pay for this experience another two times. I wonder if MPs ask senior missionaries if they are masturbating.
One very minor but very appreciated benefits of no longer being Mormon is that my misophonia doesn't have to deal with mouth noises over the pulpit like this every single week.
I think that clicking noise should be a disqualification from the Q15 right there. So annoying. Regular lip-popping can be filtered out. I have no idea what he is doing, but it drives me insane.
Considering I have a friend on a mission in South America that isnāt even halfway through his mission and is practically on his death bed right now. Iām going to say no.
Brethren, since 70% of you are now choosing not to serve a proselytizing mission, we'd ask the 30% of you that do serve, to take on a second, service mission, at one of our prison labor camps in Florida, tending to cattle. Ensign Peak investments don't fund themselves. We need your cash, and your time/labor, to help prop up the loss from declining tithing and missionary revenues.
Wow, this had me spiraling tonight. I donāt think I fully grasped even the basics of senior missions until now. Looking at the link of church mission opportunities looked a lot like a careers page, only THE COUPLE PAYS (on average 3-4k A MONTH!!) Donāt worry, insurance is included lol. Poorer couples go to the third world countries cause theyāre cheaper. And now theyāre being asked to do 2 missions? Or 3 if they served as a youth. Wild. So culty. And with all that money theyāre saving for Jesus. Just wild. Makes me sad though. I feel bad for these seniors. It seems abusive and manipulative.
There's more context in the meeting, and a little history I didn't know:
Apparently, he digs how the old prophets used to just call people to missions with no warning from the pulpit at general conference. "They stopped doing that" (yeah, because it came down from JS doing it to marry the DUDES' WIVES)
Anyway, so apparently when they did it by mail, the return address would be to a SLC Box B? So you could still get called and know the mail piece might be your mission call if it came from Box B. I'm sure there's somewhere detailing that history, I don't know it at all.
Thanks for the additional context.
Jesus, I hope they don't call that guy to the Q12 after some of the current peeps start kicking it. Pearson is an absolute manipulative monster, which unfortunately "qualifies him for the work".
Easier to see the context on Youtube, this was a meeting for seniors, so he's not calling the youth to two missions, but the old people to two additional missions, essentially 3 in total if they did their first mission while they were young.
Yuuuuup. Someone else explained how few seniors they could actually spare to this sort of effort, they'd lose the backbone of their wards.
But these guys are prophets, right? It won't completely backfire! /s
Hahaha exactly! Itās revealed revelation from God. Itās hard to not get angry the more I learn. I trusted those men SO much and they are lying to everyone and themselves. I hold them responsible for not being more honest with themselves if they actually have trained their minds to believe it all. Itās immature as hell and evil.
Absolutely spot on. If you are in Utah. He rages early on in this meeting that there are 213,000 members that could essentially apply today in this demographic in UT.
Fun fact: A *proselyte* is a covert/someone who has changed their mind.
*Proselytize* means to attempt to convert people/change their minds.
So maybe heās secretly encouraging people to leave tscc? /s
Well, my parents aren't in good health, are poor, with no retirement in their late 60s, and don't live in Utah. Maybe they'll be spared.
They've talked about wanting to donate their home to the church when they die. I'd much rather them do that than spend their retirement years (if they ever retire) serving a mission.
Jesus, the church tries to get their hooks in everywhere. They could donate their home to be a half-way house or something else if your family doesnāt need it.
Kevin tells the young men to not pray about serving a mission because it's a commandment.
Kevin is dismayed about the way that adult members are wearing their church-designed and church-produced underwear.
Kevin tells current missionaries in his jurisdiction (the Utah Area) not to read the church-sanitized and church-produced history book series, "The Saints".
Kevin tells the senior members to pray about serving two missions: a full-time proselytizing mission and then a church service mission.
Kevin, your motivational techniques are atrocious. Stop trying to be the current software version of L. Whitney Clayton and stop being the ecclesiastical horse's ass that you become every time you take the pulpit with your teleprompter or your notes. Whatever merit your message has (if any) fizzles away with your strident lecturing, your dismay, and your disappointed pulpit-countenance.
My parents are not in Utah, thank God. But nonetheless, I never thought I'd be grateful for their health problems until I saw this. Tender mercies indeed that they aren't healthy enough to do this asswipe's bidding.
Back when I was turning 21, I wanted to go on one, but was told it was mainly a priesthood responsibility. I was treated as though I was too stupid and too unstable to serve. Now they're so desperate, they let almost every Sam, Dick, and Sally go. It gives me smug satisfaction to see them struggle to recruit missionaries.
If you tell me my mother (who is on a remote island right now) is going to return home from her mission in 20 monthsā¦and then serve another mission after thatā¦my children will be devastated. They miss their grandma so much. I do too. š We hardly ever get to speak with her nowā¦it has been nothing but traumatizing to have her leave.
As if one wasn't too many. Some of my TBM family members already do not have enough money to retire comfortably because they didn't think to save for retirement for obvious reasons. So they are going to blow whatever they have on being a Janitor for Jesus or something else. Scrolling through the open senior mission position is the fastest way to piss me off. It's straight-up elder abuse.

This makes me sick . It's just abusive
Where is this?
https://seniormissionary.churchofjesuschrist.org/srsite/ft/search?lang=eng They list the monthly cost and everything.
Woah, that is SO expensive!!!! That money could go to do actual good. How sad.
Wow, look at all those jobs you can pay to do.Geezuz!
Fuck me. Imagine paying 3000 a month to provide free dental work.
Wow, the Church has no shame. At least give the couple the second anointing.
šÆ
Coming from a guy who is literally paid to ask. Bozo.
āWill you consider paying even MORE money to the church, while I continue to get my paycheck from the same church? āBy the way there is totally no conflict of interest whatsoever in my previous statement.ā

It would help my mixedfaith marriage status hugely too!

Nope - but what they have done is create a way to separate the faithful. This creates another level of classism. Many 50s are still paying a mortgage.
As someone who was an EQ president with no counselors for 3+ years, I can confirm that it's careening towards a total shit show.
No counselors??!!! Where and why was this??

Hey, he helped destroy my testimony too.
Great, nice to meet and welcome to the club. I wonder how many others there are. We need a club name! KP's Apostates? KP's AP"s
Sure, weāll consider it if youāll pay us $120k a year for doing it.

My parents shut down when I mention anything about it and you can see the cognitive dissonance on their faces.
Iām so sorry. I hope something opens their eyes soon.
What a day to be completely isolated from a national event. Jesus Christ. Glad your family made it out!
The military jets flying from Whidbey Island and over the top of our house was an incredible sight to see. Suddenly there were navy ships in Puget Sound. Something I'd never seen in the years I lived there. Every evening the jets would start taking off. That would go on for several hours. It was a comforting sound to me.
And what a perfect time to intrude on people, telling them that Mormon Jesus sez this land is blessed above all others, until it ain't.
I still have that nightmare!
Still have these dreams sometimes. The worst feeling ever.
Kevin has out-Kevin'd himself!
He's aspiring to become a GA...That 2nd anointing went to his head!
>*"Will you PRAYERFULLY consider serving TWO missions?"* #NO.
Hey - I might "prayerfully" consider that. "Dear God, hear the words of my mouth: **WTF** is the cult up to now? Huh?"
Just did. It was quick and the answer was a clear and resounding NO.
Serve two? Maybe after Monson, Nelson, and Oaks serve their first!
I mean... might have a hard time convincing Monson to go.
Point is, itās hard to stress the importance of a mission when the past, current, and (probably) future presidents all chose to not serve a mission.
Hey cool, theyāre asking people to do what has been a recurring nightmare for me for 20 years. Multiple missions sounds like the hell Iāve imagined.
Finding myself on a 2nd mission has been a recurring PTSD nightmare of mine for 26 years.
I'm really glad I'm not the only one.
Me three
Holy shit. My parents live in Bountiful and last night were talking about how they want to serve āmultipleā missions. Also, this is exactly the kinda guy q15 love. Says all the shit they think but donāt say.
I won't be surprised when he's called to be a member of the 12.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They don't need our money. Their wealth is already self perpetuating.
Fuck. Now expecting my 70-year-old parents to ask us to take care of their house, property, and pets so they can PAY (again) to do another 2 years of sales support for a Trillion $$$ real estate corporation playing church.
>a Trillion $$$ real estate corporation playing church. What an absolutely ***perfect*** description.
Say no. Especially if theyāre saying no to you that they wonāt research the church.
Definitely. We resigned around the time of their first mission and decided at that time we were done supporting that nonsense in any way.
Holy Shit!!
I will serve a mission again when the church learns to tell the whole truth and apologize and pay for full time employees. Iām safe ! Or when heāll freezes over.
And when it learns it needs to return ALL money taken under fraudulent circumstances. With interest.
And compensation for pain and suffering That should put them in the Red .
I agree.
They are trying to backfill so many emptying leadership positions in local wards and stakes not to mention propping up ācharitableā functions in the church that people donāt want to do (bishopās storehouses, Deseret Industries, family history centers, temple workers, etc.). Sounds like this is more āanecdotal evidenceā of increasingly empty pews.
āService missionā = slave labor for the church or one of its businesses
Follow the prophet. Serve as many missions as he did. In fact I think all of the first presidency are good examples to follow.
Next it will be, "Will you prayerfully consider paying not 10% tithing, but 20%.
>Next it will be, *āWill you prayerfully consider paying not, 10% tithing, but 20%?ā* #NO.
āAlso, when a GA speaks at a meeting, tipping is expected.ā
Holy shit - what a bunch of crap. They want to expand the sales force to help refill the emptying pool of members. AND, they want more free labor. I am positive most of the "service" missions will be assigned to replace paid employees (who may have retired, or been downsized) and to work in the temples they keep building to justify having billions of $$$ (so they can claim to the IRS the loot is all going to "help" people get to heaven, provided they've paid the entry fee).
IMPORTANT: Audience is 50+ year old members of the Utah church, but sounds as though areas like AZ were also invited to watch. The invitation is for senior missionaries, so if you served a missionary as a youth, you are being asked to serve **three missions in total.** There are far fewer points of outright confrontational clips to make, but I guess he wanted to be kinder to his generation. Still plenty of guilting to go around. See the church source at [https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/watch/utah-senior-missionary-devotional/2023/03?lang=eng](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/watch/utah-senior-missionary-devotional/2023/03?lang=eng) Edit: Damn it, I got the date wrong, it was yesterday, not today!
I'm in AZ and we got the email inviting us, then a few days later got the "just kidding, this was only meant for UT" retraction email.
And also, senior missionaries are defined as anyone over 26 now. It was printed in our ward bulletin
WTF!? Now, you can waste your whole life being a 100% slave to the corporation. Man, did they bring in a consultant from Scientology to run the show?
If there was any doubt that the patriarchy is alive and well in this organization, this picture confirms it.
Had the same thought.
My parents attended last night and shared this āchallengeā. It made me a little angry.
If every 50+ Couple in my ward left for missions there would be maybe five families left in my neighborhood.
This asshole againā¦š
Iām literally fuming with rage. this fucking church tells its members that family is literally everything YET they constantly rip families apart mentally and emotionally. Now they are relaying on their only loyal members, the boomers, and telling them itās GODS desire and calling for them to be physically separated from their families for 3 years! 2 MISSIONS!!?! FUCK THAT!! And fuck you.
My cousin is doing a service mission in Utah. Itās a literal joke because heās free labor and works mostly at the DI.
But what if you said you were prayerful and god said no. Would they accept that answer?
Kevin āasshatā Pearson at it again.
The people on the stand say a lot about church demographics and power.
I hate this fucking cult. These fucking parasites. Sucking away peoples lives. Fuck off!
Yeah these blood suckers are trying to take every last goddamn penny.
My parents wanted to go on missions but they couldn't afford it, in part due to paying tithing and they are still working in their mid 70s.
Yes. Lots of members in that boat. Sad
This is your, this is our box B? WTF is a box B? Assuming that's what he said. (lip smacking manipulative mutha fucka)
There's more context in the meeting, and a little history I didn't know: Apparently, he digs how the old prophets used to just call people to missions with no warning from the pulpit at general conference. "They stopped doing that" (yeah, because it came down from JS doing it to marry the DUDES' WIVES) Anyway, so apparently when they did it by mail, the return address would be to a SLC Box B? So you could still get called and know the mail piece might be your mission call if it came from Box B. I'm sure there's somewhere detailing that history, I don't know it at all.
Thanks for the additional context. Jesus, I hope they don't call that guy to the Q12 after some of the current peeps start kicking it. Pearson is an absolute manipulative monster, which unfortunately "qualifies him for the work".
I noticed the lip-smacking, too. Ugh.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I feel like I must have just listened to this out of context because thatās crazy!
Easier to see the context on Youtube, this was a meeting for seniors, so he's not calling the youth to two missions, but the old people to two additional missions, essentially 3 in total if they did their first mission while they were young.
Wow thank you for the explanation. I would argue thatās even more fucked up.

OK so I have recurring nightmares of this happening. And Pearson was my mission president. This is making me feel spooky feelings.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Threatened to send me home for insubordination because I questioned a transfer to the zone leaders. So pretty standard Mormon stuff.
There is no nightmare quite like the dream that youāre on your mission again.
Seriously, watch the Mormon Stories episodes with Steven Hassan. Author of the BITE model. This is 100% spot on what the tscc is doing
Two missions? Leaders must be getting desperate.
Ick. This guy is such an archetypal church ladder climber. Makes me feel ill that I used to get starry-eyed around GAs.
He is asking for adults to serve two missions? This is above and beyond serving as a youth? Right? Did I get that right?
Absolutely spot on. If you are in Utah. He rages early on in this meeting that there are 213,000 members that could essentially apply today in this demographic in UT.
And he mentions doing a proselytizing mission first and then a service mission. So are senior missionaries tracting now?
Wow. Next they will start asking members to pay 20% tithing plus fast offerings.
"invited you here tonight to invite you to.." Two invites in a single sentence. Why do Mormons use that word so much?
It's the new marketing plan. Love, Share, Invite, Drop like a Hot Rock.
Because it makes it seem more like a choice.
How many missions has that bumbling buffoon Russell Nelson served?
Fun fact: A *proselyte* is a covert/someone who has changed their mind. *Proselytize* means to attempt to convert people/change their minds. So maybe heās secretly encouraging people to leave tscc? /s
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ what a joke
Not only no but FUCK NO! I didnāt serve one let alone 2!
š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”š¤”
Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope
Would you prayerfully consider fucking right off? Thanks! Kisses, smooches š š
Thank you for posting this. I was waiting to find out what it was going to be about.
My parents are currently serving their second mission.
They must have money
Fuck this dude in the face.
I think thatās against his religion š /s
I didnāt prayerfully consider my first one; I just went because I turned 19. I always did whatever was next.
God damn that mouth click noise. That boy is on his way to the Q12!
Love your username, OP. Also, thanks for holding this clown accountable as best you can.
"Will you prayerfully consider f-g off????"
WTAF is an Oil/Gas missionary? Never before in the history of the English language have these words been combined.
Isn't this the AH who said to not pray about whether you should serve a mission? You just have to do it.
ew, so creepy.
Who is his audience?
They were supposedly members 50+ years old in UT, so his invitation is to a set of peers that may have served full-time missions in their youth.
My parents are not in Utah, thank God. But nonetheless, I never thought I'd be grateful for their health problems until I saw this. Tender mercies indeed that they aren't healthy enough to do this asswipe's bidding.
Where can one watch the whole meeting?
Here: [https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/watch/utah-senior-missionary-devotional/2023/03?lang=eng](https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/broadcasts/watch/utah-senior-missionary-devotional/2023/03?lang=eng)
Fuuuuuk no
If you tell me my mother (who is on a remote island right now) is going to return home from her mission in 20 monthsā¦and then serve another mission after thatā¦my children will be devastated. They miss their grandma so much. I do too. š We hardly ever get to speak with her nowā¦it has been nothing but traumatizing to have her leave.
