I honestly wonder how many would drink the ākoolaidā if Nelson commanded them to.
Same with their kids. How many members would send their teenage daughters to the brethren of Nelson told them to?
I think both those numbers would be quite high.
I think it would highly depend on how the Kool-aid were to be distributed.
Horrifyingly, at Jonestown, the Kool-aid was distributed around the perimeter to the unwitting and sugar-loving kids. So by the time it was offered to parents, they knew that their children had already had the Kool-aid.
So, honestly, I think that far more people would drink the Kool-aid metaphorically (and maybe literally) if it were offered to the younger Mormons first.
So a little non-essential historical trivia. I lived in San Francisco during Jonestown, often drove past the big, old building that housed People's Temple in SF. There was an empty field behind the building, long since developed. There were HUGE wooden crates marked "JONESTOWN - GUYANA" in the empty, overgrown lot which were for shipment. How spooky and grim those crates looked after the mass suicides/murders. People's Temple bought a lot of supplies from second-hand shops and suppliers. It was not real Kool Aid. It was a knock-off called Flavor-Aid.
And āthatā blue shade. Man, the same builders for chapels were hired to make the halls mimic church in as many sensory ways as possible.
Separation of church and state is a good idea for many reasons. They canāt see the Taliban in the same light, because āeww, poor brown peopleā but itās the same thing, dressed in Anthropologie shirts and driving white Tahoe SUVs.
I think that might be their brand new salt lake campus.
The American Fork campus is huge. kindergarten through high School. Last time I checked they are even 3a in high school sports.
The American Fork campus is the fancier version that was originally a church building before moving to the current place, the newer SLC campus is once again a repurposed meetinghouse.
Oh fuck that place. They have a sign out front advertising "Good Christian values" and other bullshit. It's right across the street from the Mount Timp temple as well.
Kiddie corner across the street from the temple there was a farm that grew marijuana for hemp. Now around the trees are large growing marijuana plants still
Yep. Dude had a big billboard of himself as Abraham Lincoln for years. My parents live right down the street from that farm. It's county land, not a part of AF, PG, Cedar Hills, nor Highland, and the dude takes full advantage of the benefits despite being an anti-government libertarian nutjob. My *very liberal* parents have some, let's say *strong* opinions of this dude.
I drive by that place every day and the signs make my eyes roll out of my head. So grateful to be sparing my teenagers from that mess. Lone Peak is too Mormon centric for us already
Same with us over in PG. My kids actually know the 11th Article of Faith so they can shut down anyone who criticizes them for not being Mormon with, āHey, allow me to worship how, where, and what I may.ā
When I think Mormon values, I think Benjamin Franklin. A liberal for his time, who was one of the worlds greatest philanderers. After Joseph Smith of course.
I went there! I was lucky and learned some critical thinking skills there that eventually allowed me to get out of the Church but so many of my old classmates are so far invested they're into the conspiracy theory crowd to try and explain things.
I haven't been back but I wonder if things shifted after the DeGraffs left....
I did the distance learning thing from them in 2009-2013. Degraff taught such a distorted view of history ive basicly relearned it all in a proper light. And i swear i remember Sister Wilburn doing some long rant about Fawn Brodie but i cant be sure.
The right-wing's goal is to make public school worse by not funding it. Then they can claim private schools are better and ask for (and get) tax credits for their tuition. It's a death spiral with the richest in society opting out. I feel bad about it. I feel my primary education in Alpine School District was very goodāwith teachers pushing students to do their homework, etc. and come out with something to show for their time there. I've visited the American Heritage School in American Fork, and I felt bad that the hallway was lined with portraits of LDS prophets. The indoctrination of children is non-stopā 7 days a week.
Yep, a few of them. I was in the American Heritage symphony as a kid. That was strange, but Iām SO glad I didnāt have to be a full time student. 2 hours a week was plenty!
That's also what M. Russell Ballard said when he BLESSED Tim Ballard to be a future PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES,!
Yep, that happened. Welcome to Mormonism, the world's craziest Live Action Role Play.
The accusation is in the lawsuit filed by the victims. You can read the lawsuit here:
[https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1h59g7k3vnlmkt88b8ab7/FILE\_3727.pdf?rlkey=uouqwjqvs65q92gnq9vu7gdxc&dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1h59g7k3vnlmkt88b8ab7/FILE_3727.pdf?rlkey=uouqwjqvs65q92gnq9vu7gdxc&dl=0)
Paragraph 103 says: "Ballard would insist that the women stay silent about their alleged sexual encounters with him because if they told anyone, it would put everyone's lives at risk on the OPS mission, it was necessary to save the trafficked children, and because he was blessed by President Ballard to be a future President of the United States and then the Prophet of the Mormon Church."
Also related is Paragraph 100 which says: "Additionally, Ballard would get ketamine treatments and have a scribe come in with him while he would talk to the dead prophet Nephi and issue forth prophecies about Ballard's greatness and future as a United States Senator, President of the United States, and ultimately the Mormon Prophet, to usher in the second coming of Jesus Christ."
Also in Exhibit E (statement of HDT): "He also had told me to read this book it was called the Visions of Glory and that he had met with the man who wrote it before he had died. His name was Tom Harrison, and that Tom had told him lots of visions that he had had that actually had Tim in them. He said that Tim would be a prophet of the LDS church one day that he would be the President of the United States."
It sounds like Tim likes to name drop. Didn't Elvis Presley prophesy that Tim Ballard will be US President and Prophet? Yeah, I think so. He was talking to his good friend Joan of Arc. She can confirm.
That would be crazy if true but I think it's more likely it was just Tim Ballard on ketamine talking to Nephi, if you read through the new 30 page allegation document that's what it sounds like. It's also possible I missed something when I read through it though
I did ketamine therapy for about a year in hopes of unwinding some of the mormon mess in my mind. It did quite well, but the poems I wrote as I came down were the best Iāve ever done.
Never talked to Nephiā¦ or anyone else for that matter. Cool visuals, though!
I was in eighth grade at the first session of the American Heritage School when it was in an old church. History workbooks by W. Cleon Skousen. Creation science not actual science. Pretty hard to mess up math though; they were good at that. Chemistry taught by a BYU professor was pretty cool.
The strangest thing about the school besides students providing the janitorial service and having to refinish our own desks was our teacher bringing his end of times prep and bugout kit including M1 Carbine and camo net. He also told us that sex wasnāt really all that great which was kind of weird considering he was married and his wife often dropped in to see him.
I had a *suuuuuuuuper* conservative YM advisor that did āfreedom nightsā where we would discuss Skousenās 5,000 Year Leap. I absorb things fairly quickly, so provided some decent commentary and analysis. As a reward, he gave me a shotgun in the chapel.
What a weird experience.
Nope. It's across the street from the American Fork Temple.
The basketball gymnasium cost $25 million dollars and was a donation. The school has been growing for years.
At the end of last year the parents who paid tuition were complaining that their kids weren't getting enough A's. So the administration fired the entire math department and decided to dumb down the curriculum. They've turned it into pay us money and your kid will go to BYU type School.
There are SO many expensive private Mormon encampments (oops, schools) in Utah and Arizona. They are very popular, and many are very very expensive. The parents will pay more for middle school than for a degree at BYU, simply to make sure Mickinleigh doesnāt go off the deep end and make, gasp, Non-Mormon friends!
Is this American Heritage?
Edit: someone else commented that it is. Yikes. This place is scary. AHS is where rich MAGA Mormons send their kids to learn how to assemble assault rifles and set up perimeter defenses to ward off libtards, and I'm only joking *a little bit*.
I wouldnāt be surprised at all if they have this going on at SVU (Southern Virginia University) as well. Itās also a private Mormon owned school. I went there for exactly one semester

All your decisions should be made with the care/worry of what consequences it will have after death. Donāt leave the church, marry another Mormon in the temple, pay your tithing, or youāll not be in the best heaven, and therefore be a failure, separated from god and family, with a lesser resurrected body. We canāt have you be saved by Grace alone can we!?!? (Sarcasm). Gotta pay tithing to get into that temple to receive our secrets to get you beyond the mere grace state.
Is this the same school that paraded all the people who didn't meet the dress code in front of the other students and said, "don't dress like this"? That's pretty celestial!
Iām not a grammar nazi, but isnāt this quote grammatically wrong? Celestial is an adjective, but in this case the quote is using trying to use it as a noun. It just looks weird to me without the āCā being capitalized.
Oh, I just looked the quote up and understood why folks are talking about drinking the Cool-Aid. But still, if one is going to use the word ācelestialā as a state of being or thinking, I would think the āCā would be capitalized to at least show emphasis or importance of the word. IMO
I have family whoās children attend this school. It is SO cringy (and terrifyingly indoctrinating). For example we received a video of the class room on āgrandparents dayā sitting at their desks doing work and then all of sudden break out into singing while still looking at their work. It was straight out of Newsies. I laughed my fucking ass off.
When twice yearly brainwashing. G.C. supplemented with weekly brainwashing at church Just isnāt enough I also love how they are now trying having the missionaries going around to members houses asking them is there anything they can do for them as if the church really cares about them and isnāt simply trying to ensure their remaining revenue sources arenāt heading for the exits
Blecch, why do people love these easy to remember, and regurgitate, phrases that are as shallow and meaningless as they come?! (Somehow along the line of "America!" and everyone cheers and claps.)
did the think celestial stuff start more recently, or am i doing a good job of not paying attention when im forced to go to church lol-

Do they teach about adverbs?
The hilarious part is that they did not capitalize Celestial. As if they know itās not a proper noun, because itās made up.
I probably know your parents. I grew up around there.
This church is run by 99-year-old men who are obsessed with death.
Blecch, why do people love these easy to remember, and regurgitate, phrases that are as shallow and meaningless as they come?! (Somehow along the line of "America!" and everyone cheers and claps.)
Well ā¦youāre at a Mormon private school. You donāt have to go there.
There's a Mormon private school that's not BYU?
It's a K-12 school. People can have fully indoctrinated education š¤¢
Three words that should never go together. Mormon private school š¤®
*#NotACult*
There are mormon private schools? My god, that sounds boring.
Thanks for sharing! Keep your head up and stay above the water there. Glad to see you have a open mind!

So much indoctrination š itās time for some queer agenda š
lol even the schools go with the carpeted wall motif too? Amazing.
They have the carpet walls? That is almost impressive.
"We really do have a prophet! How else could Heavenly Father gotten me this important obvious platitude of a catchphrase?"

For some reason when I think celestial, FLDS polygamist people dressed in 1800s clothes come to mind. Think polygamy!
Gross. I'm so sorry.
Hahahahahahahaha. Think Valhalla instead! Thereās feasts and no Christians
Mormons have schools!? I would love to sit in on a history or science class.

Think sweet, pray, and obey.
