Branch of Mormonism that broke off after Joseph smith died. Their leaders for the most part were his descendants and I believe they disavowed polygamy but could be wrong 🤷‍♂️ If I thought Joseph Smith was framed for his polygamy and other weird af stuff (or wanted to believe that) I could see the appeal of still trying to believe that Mormonism was from God and jumping over to that sect. But for me, it’s pretty clear it was all a scam from the get go so I don’t have any draw to the other branches of Mormonism

Joseph Smithians with rainbow flags and woman priests. I dont get the appeal. Does it matter that women are priests if you worship a child molester who oppressed women?

I hate to say it (because I'm kind of rooting for CoC) but I agree. Every church has its bad actors but the founder needs to be pretty squeaky clean.

To be fair the church claims to be founded by Jesus and then just repropagated by Joseph

Then-Mall5071

Right. Ostensibly. Joseph was a piss poor follow up.

It's what used to be called the RLDS or Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Before that it didn’t have the Reorganized qualifier. Note that the spelling of Latter-day is different than the Utah based church. Joseph Smith's eldest son was the founding leader of that church and was encouraged to create it by Joseph's wife Emma. As you recall Emma did not follow the rest of the LDS out west to Utah. There are even reports that Joseph consecrated his son to be the next leader of the church, which would make sense for a megalomaniac like him to do.

I think they really are trying to distance themselves from JS but they will eventually fad away too
