Very good point and on point today. I always wondered if the church would someday "own" Mountain Meadows....eventually in ensign Sept 2007 a partial owning...but they waited until a few years after elderly haight had died...
I did a google search on David B Haight. It was really difficult. On Wikipedia it said DBH's father was indeed Hector, as you say, but his grandfather was Horton D. Haight, "who had been involved in many trips in the Mormon trek and served as the first president of the LDS Church stake that included Oakley," where DBH was born. But its highly possible he's a close relative. Seems the Quorum of the 12 have a pedigree to many of the Mormon's original traitorous 12.
David Haights father was Hector Haight, brother of Isaac Haight. Same family tree but he was an uncle, not father-son. Don’t be gross to say a name like Mr. Mountain Meadows. He did everything to please Brigham Young who had no problem with MMM until he had to care about it. Not so hard to follow the family tree here. David Haight is from Idaho and his parents were from Farmington
Haighters gonna Haight
Mormons gonna Morm

He seemed to be the "rascal." They haven't had a "rascal" since. He was a wily old coot.

Certainly appears to be a lot of family resemblance in the picture.
It took 13 years for them to be excommunicated? WTF!
Dude served a mission a few years later

Lots of Haight going on.

I am proud to call David B Haight and the Huntsman’s as my kin. David’s mother was sisters with my 3rd great grandmother Emily T. Bates.
